You're literally watching the universe's consciousness secondarily expand and contract continuously through its creative structures, aka humans, as much as there are incalculable untraceable thunderstorms in neural networks, New Years Eve fireworks and milky-ways forming, transforming and breaking down as there is stars in the clear nights sky to view the beauty of through an aurora. The way you interpret the contents of this forum is an entire energetic mirror to you. What matters is the pairing between actions with intention, vision and energy. In this sense, you can will anything. It's all about alignment. Alignment, alignment, alignment. That's the crux of alchemy in the way I painted it in the context of improving the harnessing of the free will you have. -

As a side note this is why the subject of alchemy (see the appropriate context) is so important of course, but why would someone be interested in alchemy if they didn't believe they could slowly get better at regulating the energy and powers of your their will here? I mean, that's as close as you can get when it comes to learning how to use, deepen your understanding of and strengthen the functions of free will. Free will is essentially conditional upon the understanding that you have any awareness at all and to the extent that you have said awareness is the beginning for providing the descriptive parameters for said free will. But again, let's take this one step at a time so there's no confusion along the way. Good to entertain discussion, good to see an open mind. -

@illbeyourmirror It's better to work in a step by step debunking (of determinism) and bottom up sense so that any model I put forward is more readily accepted if that's okay plus its a more useful investment of my time. Moreover there's no need to have any model of the larger universe to accept free will as it is as some people have affirmed, with or without the declaration that you're on in the same the same fact remains. It's the same as knowing your alive, you don't need verification that anything outside of you or the larger universe is alive in order to validate your own perception of your "aliveness" as the definition affords. Can you distinguish between thought and your awareness? Can you distinguish between thought and emotion with your awareness? Can you distinguish between your energy and all of the above? There is a reason why its called "free will" which is often a confusing subject for most people. It is not that "you are free from causality", it is that you have the power to be free relative to said power and that power describes your relative freedom of will. Let's take this one step at a time and please ask insightful questions for clarification, elaboration and greater differentiation. Moreover I invite anyone here or elsewhere to intelligently retort up until they've correctly identified what it is that I'm trying to say and their ability to refute it. One step at a time... Slowly restoring intelligence to the subject. -

@Someone here So I'm so far reading that you're not really looking for values per say, but rather this seems to be more about your state of being, referencing point "direct experience" and "happiness", state of being of which encompasses both as opposed to values which would be more about ones philosophical culture / cultural philosophy. What is it that you were hoping values could offer you in terms of serving your state of being? Is it because you associated value building as an identity building game which in return would feed you fulfilment and therefore happiness? What kind of happiness if this is true were you thinking you could derive from this greater sense of self? Just a greater sense of self that was lifted by a sense of meaning? What is it about values and meaning that you think will bring you happiness? If this is really about yours state of being, why not just focus right there instead or at the very least instead making this activity secondary? I understand the temporary dopaminergic feeling that value building can give us in the context of facing the perceived suffering of life, but it isn't a complete antidote to any suffering we may be going through. It is important though to provide us with direction to help us psychologically manoeuvre through suffering especially if our state of being is already experiencing suffering. If I am correct in my estimations, I recommend focusing primarily on organic ways of enhancing your state of being that are outside of thought and instead using thought building here which is synonymous to the value building as an indirect way of influencing emotion as the supplementary means of ordering the minds relationship with its perceived sense of self and reality. What else is at work when it comes to pushing you towards value building? What other sense of gratification, if any?

@illbeyourmirror There's just freaky stuff going on in reality as well that you just gotta be open minded to. For example... At around the exact moment I posted my thread (On Free Will - posted in the Self Actualization section) I got a spontaneous intuition about a thread on free will in the Meditation, Consciousness section, I thought the intuition was telling me to post it in there, but I thought no I'll leave it. Hours later (10 minutes ago), I notice that your thread here was created pretty much at exactly the same time as mine (within the same 6 hour span). That's unusual to say the least, I rarely visit this area of the forum as well so it was only by chance that I noticed it in the general Main Discussions area bumped to the top of course. Reality is weird, we have to get used to that. -

@illbeyourmirror My position: Free Will exists and we have it. Let me know if you’d like to know how I’ve reasoned this into existence other than sharing your thoughts. Or if you’d like to have a discussion on just furthering those mechanics, or lack thereof which is my basic contention (the lack of mechanics beyond comprehension). The crutch, you’ll have to ditch cause and effect thinking and embrace an awareness based energetic paradigm (hence why there’s a “lack of mechanics”) unless of course you can invent or at least demonstrate something better which I’d be more than open to hearing about. And yes, for me I'd agree, all discussion on the topic is mostly either "willy-nilly" or trapped in cause and effect deterministic thinking. Nuances here. But that's where I'd start. -
@levani No aspect. And I mean that as literally as possible. No aspect of life should ever be uninspiring. Meaning you should never be uninspired. But by the same token, you should never uninspire your uninspiration, meaning don't punish yourself for being uninspired. This is the level that you can get to by learning to use and leverage your awareness and the powers that create it to move towards increasingly greater depths of love which produces that natural flow of inspiration. But let me explain briefly... Uninspiration or lack thereof simply describes a physiological state in which the cells are not singing together, so once the human body with the power of awareness and through that free will, learns to increasingly advance the degree to which it can produce the frequency of love those cells within the body will begin to singing better and better together, much like a choir, thus producing a natural state of inspiration that we refer to as flow. It's really as simple as this. Sure, it'll take some practice. But that's a dream worth having that can be created regardless as to ones past. All one has to do is implement. Totally up to them. Can't do it for them.

@levani It's the intentionality towards love that brings out the inspiration to create things out of inspiration. So it's always 100%, anything else is just resistance you're transmuting towards a higher frequency of love. We don't know the full depths of love, one moment you think you've reached the peak and then in the next you've just ramped it up to an entirely new level. Why does inspiration and love go hand in hand with true creativity? Simple. Inspiration is the effect of the higher vibrational and even cellular frequency produced by love, the former that as an effect is a mental creation and the latter the cause from the bodies cells including neurons harmonising together at a higher level (meaning you're literally using more energetic mind and body power, that's literally what inspiration is, like they say you only use 10% of your brain power (which is false) analogously this is using more than 10% of both your mind and body through inspiration).

@Someone here Well, we can discover it together through direct experience. What is truth to you? What is happiness? What are you searching for? What is your conception of a human and why are you attached to this conception? Can you imagine a human as something else?

@longusername12345 I use a mental streaming method combined with the well known mindfulness meditation I adopted for my own purposes. I find it gets to the root core of belief outside of regular conscious reasoning as well because awareness is teaching itself to deal with inner phenomena directly rather then what I’d comparatively say is indirectly via say reasoning, which has unique effectiveness, however doesn’t listen to belief nearly as fast so if you imagine yourself doing baseball training where you got the ball gun constantly firing balls at you that you’re trying to hit with your bat, the balls here are the “beliefs” as we’ve concretely termed them and you with your bat is the technique. You don’t have time to screw around needless to say. The method: So other than closing my eyes and watching my breath the next step is to give awareness to rather than ignore the mental stream of thoughts in your mind. But instead of consciously interacting with them as most people do with their inner dialogue, which is why I reaction and thinking gets a bad wrap in this sense, I simply “stream” those inner landscapes (thoughts, strings of thoughts, mental phenomena, projections) + combining it with an emotional tag, love. All this streaming involves is perceptually differentiating to the greatest extent, say if a cat comes to mind then you’ll visually examine all those features as much as possible combined with perceiving any patterns you notice internal and external to the cat while focusing on and feeling the vibration of love throughout this process. This generates a priming effect which alters your subconscious minds future interpretation of not only cats but your entire beings future perception because you’re slowly conditioning yourself on the level of feeling (love) and analysis (perceptual differentiation). In combination then even when you’re thinking you’ll see life more and more through the vibration of love, naturally. This means no more worries, no more anxieties, no more traumas. Because when they appear in the mind you’ll be: (1) training your mind to fully perceive the phenomena rather than resist them in any way (2) this examination won’t be caught up in complicated emotions but instead will be streamed lined through love which slowly alter the underlying beliefs, those automatic baseballs I mentioned get fired by our subconscious mind more and more overtime This is a recent adaptation I’ve invented. You won’t here about it anywhere else. This doesn’t fully “quiet your mind” of course, however it “fully calms the mind” relative to your needs whether it’s in an orderly slow state or a comparatively chaotic fast state. I think most would agree the latter is the more generally applicable state, meaning something that’s more generally useful as opposed to say trying to zombify yourselves. You can also use this technique for mentalising about and therefore bringing a higher state to anything. See the problem with our human mental condition in the context of our psychology is that we mostly totally miss the bridge between conscious and unconscious thought. Most of us just feel perpetual victims to literally any reactions that come to us in the moment that we’ve become attached to given them entitlement over ourselves and our self concept, meaning no matter what we reaction we have we falsely attribute that to our self structure / ourselves. There’s no clear distinction there being made most of the time unless we’re closely and slowly examining ourselves like an Olympian would in the video replay of their performance to watch for improvements. This technique is designed so that, you can use the very combination that creates belief, perception + emotion, at the root level to give oneself the best chance at altering those underlying hard to reach structures through just everyday regular processing + any specific event or mental modality you want to take your mind to such in the case of traumatic memories. Just in the case of any specialised event such as that you would apply the noted streaming sequence plus any additional features you needed to implement to fully process the corresponding conditions. For example in the case of a traumatic memory, let’s say it was physical violence, you would simultaneously “stream” not linguistically think of all the adaptations you would sensibly make to put yourself in a better position if the incident were to happen again to give yourself the best chance at learning from the situation. Experiencing and harnessing the full power of the vibration of love of course is not the absence of intelligence otherwise you wouldn’t be bother spending your time differentiate the mental contents as clearly as possible. Most people’s problem with thought and feeling outside of capacity which they can slowly build in this sense is the ability to do it at the root level and in combination with one another. Quite often people will try to think but because their emotions aren’t aligned they’ll have either maladaptive thinking or emotions which make the task of thinking unproductive. The same too with emotions, in the case of processing emotions they will often give too much or too little meaning to those emotions they’re experiencing such that they can traumatise themselves further or not heal from the trauma release process enough. In general I’d recommend doing trauma releases just very naturally without this process but in the case of regular emotions I think it’s pivotal at slowly weaning yourself off the attachment to automatic reactions as being a part of the intrinsic definition of self and pruning away maladaptive reactions. By focusing on the vibration of love combined with full perceptual differentiation you change the underlying structures that give initial rise of the corresponding thoughts and emotions relating to the situation or general mental phenomenon whatever happens to be. I use the following ontological categories on occasion in warming up this kind of differentiation. They take a bit of effort to learn and this method which you won’t hear of literally anywhere else likely of course only favours the open minded. Habit/Behaviour. This is of course after enough training where you’re able to apply it in the moment as opposed to just sitting with your eyes closed being mindful of your breath. Why does it work so effectively once you get the hang of it? Simple. You’re establishing a bridge rather than being always at the effect between thought, emotion and awareness, the bridge here being between awareness and that duo. As implied, this lack of a bridge is what leads us to falsely attribute the quality and kind of thoughts ad emotions we have as something that defines our identity and sense of self rather than being a temporary and ephemeral state of being that is simply waiting on intelligent instruction from your conscious awareness which is what this method aims to achieve in a sophisticated way. Sounds too good to be true, right? Well am I asking for money? Nope. I have nothing to gain by telling you so no reason to fool other than to playfully troll which I have no interest in doing here other than inwardly speaking . If anything all I ask in return is that you let me know it’s working after consistent practice for even just say 35 minutes a day but the more a better. Consider this the prelude to generating techniques that get more at the epistemological root of being where we truly regenerate and generate novel interpretations that alter and even upgrade our lenses of reality rather than just at the psychological level where we just play back and fourth between pre-existing beliefs.

@Gabith just time to fly then, sounds about right On negative visualisation, what I would look at more is the underlying need “i.e. fear of failure”, which may create “positive familiar feelings” for them because they’re attached to those fears and doing negative visualisation brings them a sense of safety because they interpret the alternatives as unsafe. It would work hierarchically if it worked on the level of feeling/thinking, here then we operate on the level of underlying beliefs so we don’t just do activities because they feel good because we could fall into the trap of reinforcing underlying misaligned beliefs. That’s the problem with so many unproductive behaviours of course, people are unknowingly addicted to producing those states because they receive some kind of positive inner reward even though there’s a negative outer reward. That’s how I’ll reverse engineer my own patterns. best

@Gabith i spend too much time using visulisation just to extend my abilities (if im to use visualisation at all), I'm surprised people have time for this stuff. maybe the only negative visualisation you should do is on not being aware. western culture including "stoicism" movements are just numb on their own drugs they can't feel creative perspectives enough. when i look at any visualisation, for me its always about extensionality, evolution, etc. there's always the simultaneous question of what is a visualisation and everything that participates in its creation but separate to (i.e. awareness). im interested though what makes you want to do negative visualisation? for stoicism or to try stoicism or for you about what you think stoicism can provide? on the law of attraction you just need to follow the shortest highest quality path, then you're all good. I wouldn't watch any YT videos on it but yeah what do you know about the law of attraction?

@soos_mite_ah yeah that's what empathy does, but the meanings we give things affect that a lot. once its in there (our bodies), we have to let go just as much as we learn to let go of anything else meant and not meant for us (meant here ---- implies meaning, everything around us is neutral and is only as meaningful as the meanings we give it)
