@tsuki I don't think that's entirely true. Understanding can be pointed to with language, and the number one way this is done is with analogies. They force you to think about what the author is trying to communicate. This is why sages speak in parables. An indicator that someone understands something well is that they can explain it in their own words and is articulated well enough for the reader to be able to grasp. Analogies is one of those ways. Understanding itself is the integration of the many aspects involved with a complex idea. An analogy could be analogous to the idea of the archetypal dream, which I believe, is the integration of the emotions involved with a complex idea. Obviously there is more to that portion, but this is the simplest explanation. If an idea is miscomminicated or communicated improperly, it is an indicator that the author doesn't really grasp what they're saying even if there is some kind of fuzzy vision they have. In these instances, I'd stop blaming language and start being skeptical of the source of the ideas beyond the ideas the author is promoting. Whatever you think about JP doesn't really mean much in this instance because he is 100% correct here. If you cannot articulate your ideas well, you should put a disclaimer that you don't grasp what you are saying well enough yet.

@Leo Gura It's important to note the methodology behind why people are drawn to conspiracy theories to begin with. They're stimulating, and if you do not have a sense of anchoredness or groundedness, those ideas have a gravitational pull to them. So conspiracy theorists benefit from their theories because it gives them idea-highs. Most people are not looking for truth. They're thinking dopamine into their brain. -

@John Paul I'd say the most obvious tier 2-type business today is a clinical psychology practice depending on the psychologist. Also the creative fields like certain bands, etc., because those are businesses too. That's all I got. -

@Javfly33 Okay, I'll help. When metal rusts, do you say that the metal "died" or that it radically changed its state? Of course you say it changed, but what exactly is the "it"? Well it's the experience. The fact that there was experience did not die or go away, so that's what remained in the change. Why would this be any different for your body? Do the things that make up your body suddenly dissapear because you disintegrated? No, of course not. That idea still lives on the metaphysics that the soul is in your body, when in fact, the soul is your body. When you die, maggots eat you; the gasses in your body go up into the air; you fertilize the soil, etc. What else could it be, but a radical shift in experience? This was hard for me to accept, but science itself is based on studying the subjective human experience. The very foundation of it is to study the world through the senses, but the problem is that those senses are arbitrary to what is needed to survive through the process of natural selection. Other animals and organisms experience the world differently because time and space are experienced differently for them. This means an "objective" understanding of reality is humanly impossible because you are finite. It goes back to the age-old question; what is something beyond its quality? Nothing obviously because a "thing" implies quality to which there is only that, and it is subjective. Ponder it from that angle. -

@Leo Gura That's funny. I could've sworn it was consciousness lol -
@Andrew John I would stop looking at enlightenment as a whole when it comes to people being ready for it. Who cares how long it will take or who's ready for it? The "world" was certainly "ready" for it in some way otherwise Leo wouldn't have gotten a platform to begin with. Obviously, it's .001% of the population, but that doesn't really matter. The seed has been planted. Just focus on you. The world can take care of itself

@Rajneeshpuram Oh for sure. I think it should be said that there is a real issue with stoicism as a worldview however, or maybe another way to put it is using stoicism as it's own end. I find the being stoic is a state of mind or consciousness as a result of seeking a higher goal, so that's important as well. There needs to be a higher purpose in your life beyond the means to get there. Otherwise you just end up suppressing negative feelings you actually have towards things you don't like, and that creates a real clusterfuck in your mind. Just wanted to add that.

@Rajneeshpuram Happiness and fulfillment are not the same thing at all. Chasing after happiness gets you absolutely nowhere. The foundation of living is to suffer because the priority of a living being is to survive. This is where discipline comes in, and Elliot is 100% right on that part, although, I don't agree with everything of course.

@DreamScape You haven't taken a real good peek into the abyss then. At a certain point in development, or the entirety of it, if your hopes and dreams are constantly squashed; if the people around you ignore and abandon you too much, etc., the very light that others have becomes its own darkness to you. The light is a constant reminder of what you didn't have or can't have. All that's left is void. There are only two options people take here: suicide or making others feel the void you feel constantly. If these types go into the violent direction, what other action is there to take but put them put of their misery (if it's called for). Obviously you don't go out and do that, but if someone starts shooting up a place, you best believe if you have a gun and authority, that is the loving option. -
@JohnIsDoe Bro you've got no reason to stop. You're not "cheating" on her. I guarantee w/ 90% certainty the reason why she's so insecure about it is because she watches porn herself. Pretty much every human does and that's never going to change. You're good homie.

@The Mystical Man 20 years old here. Used to jack off everyday, but that stopped once I had a lot more going on in my life. Now it's more of a weekly thing, and I don't even use porn. The reason why I mention that is because I think daily maturation really just comes from boredom. Instead of trying to fight that impulse just do other shit, and it will go away naturally. It was weird - at one point it was a semon fest, and then I completely forgot I was jacking off everyday lol. People masturbate so much because they crave stimulation. That's it. Find something else. Edit: Grammer. Also it's my belief that if you've been jacking off everyday, and you suddenly stop, the reason why you get clarity for the week or two after is because, to your brain, you've been having sex everyday, and now there's none of it, so it puts itself into gear to find another "partner". That only happens because it's daily. If you were to do it weekly and suddenly stop, it would be the same deal. Going in some holy war against your balls is some stage blue shit. Again, if you want to stop jacking off, just have more going on in your life. You're bored.

Depersonilized replied to The Mystical Man's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@The Mystical Man Psychedelics are simply a tool to become wise as long as it's taken seriously. Wisdom is sourced from experience, and psychedelics obviously give you the experience lol. What needs to be pointed out is the experience means absolutely nothing if it is not integrated, so yes, while a psychedelic experience is not going to cure you in the long term on its own, if you're putting in the work in integrating all that seriously there shouldn't be an issue. It should also be noted that understanding the insights alone is not wisdom. Wisdom is the act of embodying truth/Truth through action. Thats why pairing psychedelics with other practices like meditation, self-inquiry, etc., is a must. There needs to be a level of maturity going into the experience, so if you feel you are ready, go for it. There's nothing to fear. -
@Leo Gura Growing up in a Christian household in a non-denominational church I can definitely say that a lot Christians in the environment are more stage green than you think; especially the ones that leave the faith and then come back later. This is a VERY common thing which I believe is associated with being stage blue, rebelling into stage orange, and then coming back at stage green but with stage blue/orange values still there. I've seen it for myself. There is an opening of the heart that happens. Just wanted to point that out because I think that's missed. Spiral dynamics is more complicated than the model would have you believe; of course you've pointed this out for yourself. Just because someone loses certain dogmatic beliefs and moves into stage orange does not mean that it won't come back later in a different way as they move up the spiral in some areas.

I just made this observation recently after studying the emergence of blue values in things such as religion and myths (obviously some of that goes higher, but you get the idea). I think it's possible that the use of the multiverse concept in a lot of movies, shows, comics, etc., is the emergence of yellow values. Suddenly you don't have to hate another portrayal of an original idea or the "right" way because it's still part of an overarching multiverse. I sense an expansion of consciousness happening and coming up almost like a dream here. I'm not 100% sure, but let me know what y'all think. Post more of these observations if you want. I think that would help make things clearer.

I was just thinking about this, but every time I've had a deep awakening or gotten to that state, it always feel familiar. It's like the dream I have every night. The presence I felt connected to as a child but didn't understand and couldn't really remember. I knew this feeling once yet only now I understand. Anyone else get this feeling? I can't quite explain it. It's such a mysterious feeling to me yet at the same time so clear at that moment.

@The_Truth_Seeker Please reconsider this post. Play "devil's" advocate. I'm not sure why you think @WaveInTheOcean 's answer was toxic, but I have to agree with them. Counter-intuitively suicide is highly selfish, and using spirituality is a fantastic way to hide that. Find it within yourself to enjoy what life has to offer, and stop trying to rationalize suicide. Hopefully once you open your eyes, you'll see how deep a hole your digging yourself in. Good luck my friend.

@SonataAllegro Weird because I was going to post this a day or two prior but put it off as I decided to think about it a little longer to make sure that the cautiousness was warranted. Synchronicity is funny that way. Thanks for the response! I think I agree. @nistake@Rilles To clarify, I don't want to stop doing music. I just want to surrender what I believe to be an unhealthy attachment to it that I think may lead to negative consequences since I have an addictive personality. I want to be happy without any crutches, and I feel that a neediness for music may actually interfere with my creative process and other talents I have. I'll definitely try the two week idea out and see how it is. Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated.

To start off, I absolutely love music. I started my journey as a musician about 5 years ago at around 14 years old with drums before I picked up the guitar at age 15. My dad has always been a musician as well. He never tried to force me. I just decided one day that I wanted to learn and haven't stopped since. Now all these years later, I find myself getting more and more amped up to try to write and make music for a living. The problem is that I don't feel like I could possibly be happy or at least at peace without music or any other creative expression. I don't really want to feel this needy for music. I feel that I have to surrender this attachment/addiction and let go of it if I want to press on with my self-actualization work. I'm curious if anyone else here has this issue, and if they have found a solution. Thank you!

Depersonilized replied to Ernest Werbel's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Ernest Werbel Too conceptual. Look right in front of you. The present moment is the beginning and the end and neither. It's the literal definition of eternity. Get out of the conceptual bubble you've put yourself in and derive answers from actual reality -

@HERO_ You can stay like that if you want, but I don't recommend it. This is a spirituality forum, so I think answers to these kinds of posts tend to gravitate towards that subject, but I don't think that it really answers the post in this case. I don't think being alone for too long is good for humans. It has a tendency to make people get a little unhinged, and it seems like it's unhealthy. I recommend at least finding more online communities related to things you like, and who knows, you might make some friends there. Just be careful. You might find that having a close friend allows you to grow farther than you could have alone. Were all built different though so maybe this is the best place for you. I have not a fucking clue. I can only share what's in my experience. Best of luck to ya!

@Truthboy Lets be real here. You're looking for some kind of approval. It isn't spirituality that's causing it. It's just a tricky way to justify silly behavior. You need to see a therapist or psychologist right away before this develops into something that's going to bite you in the ass later. Good luck my friend, and I hope that you can get some help.

@SamC Does it really matter? Just be yourself. You dont really want to try to get a girl you're not going to like or is not going to like you back based on whether you're "horny" or "masculine" or whatever lol. That'll just end up in a weird place. You do you though!

SomeOrdinaryGamers had a great video on it if anyone is interested. It plays well through Linux and fixes some of the frame rate issues. I'm sure the developers themselves were trying to make a game that was athestetically pleasing along with the Deus Ex style story. Management was just too orange for all them green ideas for the game the devs had. One day, if we could make management less orange, we'd have some amazing games in our hands.
