Is learning a language brainwashing myself in a culture? I'm actively teaching myself Arabic as I am half Lebanese (half-Lebanese, half-Russian), and I want to be able to communicate with my relatives in Lebanon. I also want to visit Lebanon, and know for once what Lebanon is, and who are these people for whom I'm genetically related to. Am I going to be brainwashing myself with Arab culture? I ask this because the goal of spirituality is to expand our sense of selves. Higher conscious people (SDi is a good example of this) have greater senses of identity which encompass more of the universe as they become more conscious. Will this be lowering my sense of self? When I was a young child, I was sent to a Russian language school every Saturday, which was primarily focused on language and culture, to what extent was this brainwashing?

No. Half of my family is Muslim, and a lot of my friends at the University are from the Muslim Student Association. I have visited the Mosque my family goes to as well. Muslims are mostly normies, if performing salah counted as prayers, then why are they so unconscious?

Is it recommended that I join culture clubs at my local University? It is a good way to socialize, but, again, the concern of brainwashing myself into a culture.

I've been doing meditation for an hour a day, and sometimes even more than an hour, for a few years now. In the past I have tried to get out of my comfort zone, most notably I've successfully done Shamanic Breathing every Friday for 13+ weeks straight. I have done yoga in the past, but I was never disciplined enough to make it a daily habit. The only book on yoga I have is 'The Secret Power of Kriya Yoga', by Santata Gamana. When recommending to me a daily yoga schedule, keep in mind that I'm quite busy, as I'm a working student. But I do want to create a daily habit. Is 15 minutes a day a good idea?
