This is wreckless advice. Yeah I agree I'm skeptical of anti-depressants, but don't tell people not to take them. You are not a doctor, and you don't know that person. Anti-depressants do help some people. You should never advise anyone to take or not to take their medications. If you want to advise on the impact it could potentially have and just state facts, then fine, but you're not an expert or a professional. Telling someone to take or not to take medications is irresponsible. No one on here should be saying this. Give people the facts and let them decide for themselves. Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't you the guy who gave his girlfriend a psychedelic and it harmed her mental health massively? @ShardMare - Take everyone's advice about medications on here with a pinch of salt. I personally don't ever want to take anti-depressants, but they can be useful in some situations if someone is really bad. Anti-depressants have saved lives, even if they are not a good long term solution, that's a fact. I'm not a fan, but some people have said it's helped them, so I wont argue with them. Read into the science, anecdotes and evidence, and then decide for yourself.

Why can't you just stop coming to the website? I didn't use the website in over a year for a while.

What do you consider his job title exactly? Since you think that being on a forum hours a day is his job.

The much better option would be to just stop giving a fuck. Go outside with your stomach showing, stop hiding it, convince your brain there's nothing wrong. That feeling is priceless.

You keep saying you're not engaging with me anymore, but every time you respond with a rant, and don't even address any of my points. You're also trying to out-ego me by saying you're just too far ahead of me lol. Are you serious? Grow up. You sound very unstable, which is what makes me think you are mentally ill even more. I wouldn't give a shit if you dismissed my traumatic experiences because I'd be resolving them on my own time and deal with it myself or with professionals who are trained. I'd be trying to practically resolve them, not seek validation from people online and getting triggered over everything. You keep saying you're not interesting in debating me, yet you keep responding. I keep on making arguments and you don't even bother responding to the points I'm making, you just get triggered over one part of them, and go on a rant. You'd see that I've made way more of an attempt to discuss this topic here than just insult you. -

What about instinctual fear of a grizzly bear running at you. -
It depends what you mean by free will. If you mean the freedom to make decisions based on your own will rather than being slave to someone elses, then sure. But your will is not controlled by you. Your will determines your actions, and your will is not chosen by you. So there is no free will, at least not as a human. There is no free will in the sense that there is no choice for you. That's an illusion. The decision making process happens like any other natural process, on it's own, and you can watch this happen.

Wow you're actually discussing the topic for once, finally!!! And your points aren't too bad! I understand your point about so called psychotic people potentially being able to access levels of perception that most people are not, and It's a point I've considered at times. "How could we disprove it unless we're them experiencing it?". Maybe all those labelled psychotic as simply blessed with super powers or higher levels of awareness? The problem here is what we risk to try and find out. If you couldn't experience these spirits naturally, like you weren't "blessed", you may end up turning to psychedelic drugs for the answers, and risk ruining your mental health. Even if not drugs, who would you turn to for advice on what techniques to use to see so called spirits? Probably others who claim they've experienced them. People who could be mentally ill or malevolent. It's a big risk, and who's to say you'd interpret your experience in a healthy way if you have it? If I was to have a similar experience to OP, I'd be really cautious about labeling the experience or establishing any belief on it. But the fact would be either the experience would be pleasant or not, and if it would impact my ability to function, and what caused the experience. And the reality is many of the people who are labeled psychotic, who claim to have experiences of such things as spirits, often end up experiencing very distressful symptoms, which you could assume is merely the cost of the gifts you may believe they have, or it may simply be confirmation that all of these things that they are experiencing are a product of mental health issues, which seems to be the most likely explanation in this case, as OP is showing signs of being unstable and easily offended. "It could be a higher dimensional entity representing itself in etherial human form. The word ghost or spirit is being used here but I think he knows that those words are just placeholders and it could be interchangeable with anything else. He's not claiming that he understands this fully he's just genuinely communicating his experience". The term "higher dimensional entity" is about as useful as the term "spirit". The reality is neither you nor him have any idea what he's experiencing. You place more faith in the term higher dimensional entity, and seem to have confidence that such a thing exists but less faith in the term spirit. This is the whole reason my bullshit alarm arises when viewing this thread. You're all so quick to throw a term on to this, and I keep saying "it could be aliens, it could be a time traveler, or something beyond understanding so much that there's not even a word for it". You both try to imply that I'm close minded, but you're both far quicker to be certain of what to label what he's experiencing as if you fucking know!!! Spirit, higher dimensional being - These things could be WAY WAY off what this 'thing', if it even exists, actually is! The reality is, OP is claiming to have an experience, and if it's true, his belief about what it is could be massively different to the reality of it. I fail to see how all the people on this thread validating OP's experience, asking the OP to ask the spirit questions, are supposedly more open minded, for blindly accepting OP's explanation that he's experiencing a spirit. They could be very well validating the experience of a mentally ill person. You ask me to be open minded, but you need to be open minded to the possibility OP is mentally Ill also. -

I haven't done this at all. I said that is the possibility that I consider most likely based on the evidence, but I never said it was definitely the truth. And you're not even really responding to the points I'm raising now. Just because I do not accept blindly that you're talking to a spirit doesn't make me close minded. I just see no more reason to believe it is a spirit than an alien, demon, angel or something that's completely an utterly beyond anyone to create an apt label. You've taken massive offence to what i'm saying, you sound unstable and easy to upset, and now you're trying to out-ego me by saying you're way ahead of me lol. Your ego is the thing most hurt by this. You've done investigations but wont share them, because you're afraid they will be refuted most likely. What does it say about you that you're only willing to share your investigations/proof of it being a spirit with those who aren't going to challenge them, and just believe them? If you were really that certain of yourself, you wouldn't be so easily offended by what I'm saying. You being psychotic is not proven, but it's a possibility that people on this thread should be open to, as the people on here blindly accepting your spirit could be contributing to something unhealthy. It may not be possible for a psychotic person to gain insight into their condition without medication or the correct guidance, so you investigating your own experience may not be enough unfortunately. If you're not psychotic, you could be experiencing something extraordinary, but don't be so certain that it is a spirit, it could be many different things. -

I never said I was certain you had a mental illness, I said this could very well be a symptom of a mental illness. Like I said before, it could be a spirit, but it could also be an alien, time traveler, or something beyond words to describe. And yes, it could well be a symptom of psychosis. I'm not saying it is, but it could be. Like I said, if you are so certain your spirit best friend exists, you wouldn't take so much offence. Why would you care what I have to say if you are so sure? Unless you believe hallucinations and delusions do not exist, you accept that people are capable of having mental illness symptoms that cause them to believe they are talking to beings that don't actually exist. And these symptoms can be indistinguishable to reality. I am open minded to many different possibility as to what this is, you are clearly not. -
Just on a typical day? I know a lot of you will have gotten rid of your TV's and playstations and shit. What do you guys do with your lives daily? What's your routine?

Isn't that because most causes of death would happen later anyway?

Good life 40 years definitely.

It's the type of carb that matters, but I've heard many fat people say low carb helped because fats and proteins satiate them for longer than carbs.

I actually agree with this somewhat, and I am a vegan. People think it's as simple as meeting all your supposed nutritional requirements, but it's not actually that simple, everyone is different. I've been vegan 6.5 years, and I've sometimes been curious about trying some meat just to see if it makes me feel better. I don't feel bad being vegan, and the worst of my issues came way before I was vegan, but you never know unless you try. It's like the people who try these crazy diets, like frugivore or raw vegan and think that because they thrive on it, everyone will. My mindset was at one point that as long as your environment doesn't restrict your options, veganism should work, but then I contemplated more and realised that we live in multicultural societies now, and different people have different genetic and ancestral lineages, and therefore will be more likely to thrive on certain diets, and more likely to suffer from certain health issues. @Nilsi The only thing I can suggest is use a website like cronometer, and put your daily vegan diet in there, and it outlines all of the nutritional requirements being met or not being met by your daily diet, and maybe you missed something? Not insulting you just showing you what helped me avoid deficiencies.

Here's an idea that may work - Go out to the beach and don't hide your belly. Walk out with it showing. Do this regularly for a while. It's exposure. If you can walk around looking like that in front of people, not deliberately drawing attention, but just walking around, then It may send signals to your mind/brain that there's no issue. Your issue is with how it looks. I find when I spend less time looking in the mirror, I feel better. I was insecure, for some reason, about my hair at one point. So instead of styling it, I would often go outside doing nothing with it, and let it be messy. It may not make the insecurity go away completely, but it may make you care a lot less.

The fact that you're so offended by me saying your spirit friend is maybe a hallucination, tells me that you're not completely certain of it's existence either. Dismiss me as a rationalist or whatever if you want. All I'm saying is you may want to get yourself checked out. You claim you have been haunted which I assume may caused you great distress at one point. Your experience of having a "best friend" who is a spirit, may be the result of mental health issues. You tell me to be open minded, yet you're clearly not open minded to other explanations as to what you're experiencing. It may not be a spirit, and it may be a symptom of mental health problems. Don't tell me to be open minded to it being a spirit if you're so set on believing that it's a spirit 100% and there's no other possible explanation, and denying the possibility that it's a symptom of psychosis. You seem pretty determined to believe it's a friendly spirit who's your best friend. Like I said in my post before, maybe you are experiencing something that's not a hallucination, maybe it's something completely different that we have no word/name for yet? Maybe by calling it a spirit, you're blinding yourself from the reality of what it actually is. It could be anything! Maybe it's a time traveler? Maybe it's an Alien? How do you know that it's not? I am not the close minded one here, you are. Keep convincing yourself that I am the one with the problem here, and you are "enlightened" and I'm just a close minded rationalist lol. -
How long we talking here brah?

You can clearly distinguish the person from the subject they're discussing though. I wasn't really that offended, it was just frustrating to have the comments derail from the subject and focused on the person. I'm frustrated at myself for not just ignoring what you were saying in the first place. In relation to how we find out - We go into it and find out. I'm open to seeing what evidence can be provided for the existence of spirits or the things that exist believed to be spirits, or what people believe I require to be able to perceive them. -

I made a very good point in the post above that you've failed to take into consideration. Look at point number 3 in my post above. It's arguably the best part of my post and you completely ignored it. You're doing here what you did on the Teal swan thread. You cherry pick part of my posts to respond to, you don't keep the discussion on topic and you often ignore some of the better points I make. You divert attention away of the topic being discussed and start to try and focus on the individual making the posts, probably with this b.s. idea that you're enlightening everyone. Unless the poster is the subject of the post specifically, please stop doing this unless invited to do so, and focus on stating your opinion on the subject at hand. If you stray off topic and try focus on me as an individual going forward, I'll just ignore your posts as if I need help identifying my own mental flaws, you are definitely not the person I would look for for guidance. I can do this myself. No one on here needs you to psychoanalyze them, no one here needs you to enlighten them to their own bias. Stay on topic, or I'll just ignore you going forward. P.S. I know you'll just say that i'm focusing on the OP here, but this is because OP is the subject of discussion here.
