"Until someone demonstrates a method better than science, it is the best we got." -- Matt Dillahunty -
Wow. I was thinking about this series before he posted it lol! This is awesome! I have just graduated with a psychology degree and I am going into graduate college to pursue a Master of Science in Mental Heath Counseling. Here is the "objection" I wrote on YouTube (if you already read it, please skip the section): —————- One of the points in my science class was that we never use the word “prove.” Science does not prove anything. It tests hypotheses and verifies if they are reliably verified over time. I would avoid using the word the science proves evolution because evolution is a theory, not a law. I agree with many points in that it is completely relative, but just know that science does not prove things it merely tests hypotheses to see if they hold up. I think in your next episode, it would be cool to see you distinguish between a theory and law. In my own contemplation, I see that laws are also relative. But in sciences defense, a scientist or at least a good scientist avoids absolute words like “proof” “always” “never” “proven” etc. By the way, I recommend you look into Matt Dillahunty on Youtube. I think a discussion between you and him would be awesome! I have really wanted you to talk with him on his show “The Atheist Experience” for quite some time. I think it would be a powerful talk. Please watch the video above! He is trying to respond to the assertion that "Science is his God." —————— In my experience, science is highly relativistic. Even mental health disorders in the DSM are mental maps that we construct and verify with other mental health professionals, cultural differences, etc. Science is helpful in this case because science does research to help clinicians to verify the best treatment outcome for their clients. There are so many research designs used in science such as between-subjects and within-subjects design, small-n design, pre-test/post-test, factorial designs, quasi-experiments, and there are different ways to sample. Even though, I agree the science will never discover truths about Consciousness, I believe that science is highly beneficial to discovering better ways to flourish and navigate the truths within the contents of Consciousness. For example: Assessments are vital in counseling and help us measure where the client is at intellectually, mentally, emotionally, etc. It helps us formulate a diagnosis. There are many limitations to assessments and diagnoses, but science helps us investigate the validity of certain assessments, procedures, diagnoses, etc. Our current way of doing science has been highly beneficial to research in a variety of disciplines. It is the falsifiability of the hypotheses that allows scientists to perform tests and studies that demonstrate a certain hypotheses to be false. If the hypotheses withstand scrutiny, they become theories. It is this reliability of measurements, investigating, falsification, etc. that helps mental professionals collaborate together with the latest scientific finds to best help our clients. We use the findings of scientific research to provide psychoeducation to clients to help them navigate through their life, find meaning, and overcome obstacles. Positive psychology is a very important scientific discipline that does not receive as much attention. Here are some of the problems that I have seen in science: Scientists have this distinction between the hard sciences and the soft sciences. (Biology, chemistry, etc. are hard scientists, whereas psychology, sociology, political science, anthropology, etc. are considered soft sciences). People in the hard sciences, I have noticed, tend to discard soft sciences as not real sciences because they are so subjective. Psychology has been criticized by hard sciences as not being scientific, and it has made it more difficult for this field to grow. It is funny how the sciences that view humans as parts are seen as more scientific than rather than the sciences that focus on people as whole beings. Positive psychology is a branch out of psychology that came to being because of the negative bias that psychology was in. Martin Seligman, the founder, wanted to investigate the question of "What are people doing well instead of what are people doing wrong?" "What is self-actualization? How do people become self-actualized? What are the qualities of self-actualized people, etc.?" Science is such a broad and vague enterprise, but our culture suffers from materialism. Science to me is anything that intends to investigate reality. This means that witchcraft, psychonauts, shamans, philosophers, psychologists, biologists, chemists, meditation, religion, contemplation, etc. are all facets of science. The principle of science itself has been good for exploration, but the paradigms that culture places onto reality and processes in science inhibit exploration. Science researches psychedelics, but the paradigm they interpret and research from is limited. Another major problem that we see in the field of psychology is that there are not many studies being replicated. Replication is a crucial part of science, but I remember my psychology teacher saying that one of the reasons why we have this problem is because the Journal companies in which research is published typically do not care as much about replication studies. I think the word "care" is used a bit misleadingly, but the fact is that scientists' reputations are also a thing to consider. A scientist wants their study published by one of the best Journals out there. Replication studies are not viewed as "important" reputation and credential builders. Scientific studies that make huge discovers warrant recognition, fundings, etc. I think funding plays a huge part in science. The Universities are funded to carry out certain investigations. The problems with replication is that scientists do not usually ever fully try to replicate other studies, rather they replicate them and then add their own interpretations and insights. Not to mention, there are cases where scientists have plagiarized and fabricated data to get more money. There are many ethical dilemmas that are tied to the ego. For instance, consider the case of a scientist who is having pressure to produce a valid experiment (sometimes, experiments fail and their hypotheses are null). Scientists do not get paid for null hypotheses/results as I understand it (Don't quote me on that). But for the scientist who has their job on the line or their credentials are on the line, what do you think they are going to do? What happens if a scientist has invested years into a research project that all of a sudden fails? Some scientists have fabricated data to make the data appear as if it is significant rather than null. Just think about this, if replication is a huge problem in science that we are seeing, how do we catch people from fabricating data if we are not replicating studies? So yeah there are many positives to science, but the way in which the ego coopts it for its own gain and worldview is very tragic. I intend to keep learning more about science so that I can use good science with future clients of mine and become the most effective mental health counselor that I can be!

I don’t think there is really such a thing as a Mormon nondualist. By identifying with a certain belief system and religion already embodies duality. Nonduality is about transcending religion to see it as parts of a whole. This is one of the problems with Hindus and Buddhists that I see. A true Buddhist does not identify as a Buddhist because any attachment leads to suffering. All identities, beliefs, ideologies, politics, and religion are imagination inside the Dream of Life. Any worldview is duality. Notice this. -

Same. I think I see your point and you make an interesting point. Conspiracy theories are just low consciousness speculation and come out of fear. Astrology and such are higher consciousness spirituality related aspects that encourage open mindedness about different spiritual elements. Whereas conspiracy theories can get you sucked down a deep rabbit whole. Just talking about crystals, astrology, and chakras are fine, I think we would have a problem if people become too dogmatic about it all. That kind of behavior isn’t allowed here and is lower consciousness. Leo did start a conspiracy thread, but then when he saw what was going on, he stopped it. People couldn’t even engage in an open minded discussion about conspiracies without being dogmatic about them. I think that is the main issue. Astrology and such is treated as hypothesis and another perspective on spirituality. If it ever becomes dogmatic, then it may be problem. But I don’t see people on here who are dogmatic about that stuff. It is generally the conspiracy theories that create controversy. These forums aren’t supposed to be wars lol, they are a way to learn and expand our consciousness. -

Yeah I hope so. I mean if everyone could just wear a mask and social distance for a month, we would have no more covid. Which this is another reason why Libertarianism doesn't work because people do not make responsible choices for the benefit of the collective. If everyone has freedom, then we will have millions of deaths by now. Hopefully Bernie Sanders runs again in 2024. I don't know what is going to happen to America if Trump is reelected. Pray to Infinite Love that Biden will win!<< I heard Leo talking about vaccinations and how they can have certain chemicals in them that lower consciousness. I am going to have to do my own research, but if you guys find anything, please let me know. My goal in life is to strive for High Consciousness and Infinite Love as much as I can! <3 -

One of the best ways to know how corrupt a teaching is, is to measure the amount of Love in the teaching or in your own worldview. If the teaching or worldview is based in fear, selfishness or anything Low Consciousness and lacks Self-Love, it is corrupted teaching. If the teaching embodies Self-Love, it is a good teaching. I learned this from Actualized.org's video on Self-Love. Wearing a mask is one of the most selfless things you can do in this pandemic. You may hate it, but doing it anyways to embody and accept others completely as an aspect yourself is Love to me. -
All Trump does is the red herring fallacy. He is so good at communicating and manipulating people, which is not really so good lol. I love Biden! The only thing I did not like was that he was demonizing Kim and North Korea by calling them Thugs. He did fine at everything else. I think Joe Biden is at Stage Green whereas Obama was at Stage Yellow, and Trump is Stage Red (which represents every Red state L0L!).

How do you know? I am my own scientist, and think for myself after I have evaluated all the evidence. If you think for yourself without evaluating other sources outside of yourself, then the whole idea of "thinking for yourself" turns into "believing for yourself." Don't just think for yourself, but think about other people. If wearing a mask has evidence to reduce Covid (which it does), then wear a mask. I do not see any science suggesting that walking around NYC with a naked face will reduce spread of Covid. If you find research though, please forward it to me. I have been looking all over for empirically validated sources. How do you know you are not deluding yourself with your stance on No masks? Are your references coming from peer-reviewed empirical studies? If so, please post them below. When it comes to spirituality, you are your own scientist, but when it comes to survival, we all have to come together for the collective. If the collective goes down, you go down. This is the fallacy of libertarian ideology. Not necessarily. Conspiracy theories are people making up crap and speculating to confirm an ideological position. Paranormal is a direct encounter with the divine. Hence, the word paranormal, which means beyond "normal reality." Check out Leo's booklist for books about paranormal experiences and how there are case studies that support this phenomenon. -

What do you mean that he is right? Lol! I followed him for a while and was even indoctrinated into his Bill Gates Cabal microchip conspiracy. I dismiss him because I saw that his teachings were not at the highest degree of Love or Truth. All he is doing is speculation and cites misinformation. Once I started to really think for myself and did my own research, I saw the power of influence and how corrupt his teachings are. I mean to encourage people to party in a pandemic is operating at a low consciousness level of Love. Saying "I don't know" has no political opinion. It is the fact of reality. When you look at his politics, they come from fear and Right wing ideology, not from Love. Right wingers are living in the past and generally do not support multiculturalism. I value diversity, respect, Love, liberty, and Consciousness FOR ALL! l (not excluding Blacks and women like white people did in past and still do today). -

Lol! And you know what is true? How can I have an ideology if I admit that I don’t know what’s true? Don’t you have to believe that your beliefs are true to then be considered ideological? I follow Science and reasoning. If you look at multiple sources, they all say that masks reduce Covid. But you can believe whatever you want to believe and that is what I think you are referring to as sheep. -

Yeah. I used to listen to Ralph Smart a lot in the past. But since Covid, all of his new videos are conspiracies and Right wing ideology. If I had to guess, he would be voting for Trump lol, but I don’t know that. I haven’t listened to Teal, but on a Netflix documentary about Cults, it listed both Ralph and Teal in the documentary. I even got myself sucked into the whole Bill Gated Bullshit microchip theory, but after I was looking at my hand, I realized that all of that Bill Gates horsecrap is concept and imagination. I mean it’s all mental speculation and this was when I realized that I deluded myself and I cannot imagine how many more people were also deluded too. Ralph is also expressing Right wing Libertarianism. I doubt that Ralph or Teal are enlightened. They are pretty much the blind leading the blind. At least, that’s how it seems to me. -

Why? I mean you do have a choice, but it is a higher consciousness choice to wear one. I see so many people at bars and at parties not wearing masks or SD. -
Hello guys, I am wondering how do you discover Infinite Love? The only exercise I know that may increase Self-Love to the realization of Infinite Love is through Loving-Kindness meditation. Loving-Kindness (Metta) Meditation is the main meditation that I know to increase Self-Love to the whole Universe. Here's how you do Loving-Kindness or Metta meditation: - The basic tenet of Loving-Kindness is to bring Love and Joy to every atom of the universe. - You are well-wishing every living thing in the Universe and accepting it completely as it is. Step 1: sit down and just BE with yourself. BE in Direct Experience Step 2: Imagine yourself with a white light that surrounds your being. This white light is angelic and represents God's Infinite Love for you. Step 3: Feel this white light energize your body and feel it bringing joy and love to every cell of your being. Step 4: repeat the mantra: "May I be happy." "May I be safe." "May I be strong." "May I be guided by Infinite Love." Step 5: Once you have brought the white light of love to yourself, expand it to your loved one, a neutral person, a hated person, animals etc. Step 5: Realize that in order to be guided by Infinite Love, you have to overcome your fears, hatred, and resistance towards all thing. See the white light emanating the entire Universe and breathe out your Love into the world. You will be in Infinite Love when you are about to BE and fully ACCEPT the world as it is with joy, wonder, and care in your hearts. All fear, hatred, and negativity will be gone, and all you will be left with is peace, love, and well-wishing for all creation. Please post your exercises for Infinite Love because Metta meditation is the only exercise I know to be in Infinite Love.

I would much rather you master one form of meditation than to know many forms of meditation. The fact that it’s hard for you to do a body scan for one hour, shows you that it would be best for you to master this basic form of mindfulness before getting lost in meditation techniques. Realize that meditation has no technique. Meditation is about connecting to the NOW. It is being in tune with the “observer.” Become the watcher. Be mindful of the sensations of breathing, sight, sounds, and feelings. Listen into the wisdom of silence. Watch your mind and bring it back to sensations. That’s pretty much it. Just BE with yourself and The Eternal NOW. You can also look at your hand for an hour and just BE with your hand. Observe your hand and marvel at it. -

There is no “my” consciousness because that implies a “your” consciousness. There is only Consciousness. “My” consciousness is Consciousness and there is nothing outside of it. With that refrigerator example, apply that to what you call “other” people and “other” minds. Then you’ll realize that this is a Dream, and everything in your Dream is dream-stuff. -

The beginning of this video was what I was trying to explain to you. All others and yourself are imagination. All that there is, consciousness. All other layers that you are imagining are imaginary. Imagination is the layer of reality. Nothing is outside of consciousness. All that exists is consciousness. -

There is no you or me. There is no perception. Nothing fancy? Man. Reality fascinated me every day. Nothing ordinary at all about reality. Ordinary is your current state of consciousness. It has nothing to do with reality. -

You already assume duality as truth. There is separation between you and me. All dualities are more imaginary. I have already explained this. If you have any more questions, please look at the old posts on here, and I will do my best to your questions. But if you really want answers to your questions, then look within. Do the work. Asking me isn’t going to get you enlightened because I am not even enlightened. That right there should tell you that you are the authority and you need to do the work yourself. -

r0ckyreed replied to r0ckyreed's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Make a distinction between knowledge and belief. Whatever is in your firsthand direct experience is knowledge. Everything that you Imagine is belief. So for instance, the Earth is round. I am imagining that the earth is round and I believe that it is round. I never had a direct experience of it being round. All of your memories are not you remembering necessarily, but they the past events that you are imagining. Notice how your memory is not the entire picture of what happened. Memories exist in Consciousness. Think about COVID-19, that also exists in Consciousness. Everything is Consciousness. But you have to discover this on your own. Pull out your hand. Look at it. That is Consciousness. Think of your hand. That hand also exists in Comsciousness. Existence or no existence is also something held in Consciousness. Anything you think about that doesn’t exist in Consciousness is also Consciousness. Anything you think is outside of Consciousness is also in consciousness. Any idea, thought, rationalization, Logic, knowledge, belief, imagination, experience, or memory is consciousness. Everything is an appearance in Consciousness. When you realize that Infinity exists, you no longer have to believe it anymore. Belief is something you do when you do not know. Once you know, there is no longer a need to believe.
