  3. The Ganzfeld procedure exposes the participant to ‘unstructured’ sensations usually by placing half ping-pong balls over the eyes so they can only see diffuse white light and by playing white noise through headphones. It is probably best known for its uses in parapsychology experiments, but it is also used to induce hallucinations and sensory distortions which are much more likely to occur in the absence of clearly defined sensory experiences. The article reviews the sorts of hallucinations reported in during these experiments and discusses what electrophysiology (EEG or ‘brain wave’) studies tell us about what happens in the cortex when these perceptual distortions kick off. Some of the descriptions of hallucinations are really quite striking: “For quite a long time, there was nothing except a green-greyish fog. It was really boring, I thought, ‘ah, what a non-sense experiment!’ Then, for an indefinite period of time, I was ‘off’, like completely absent-minded. Then, all of sudden, I saw a hand holding a piece of chalk and writing on a black-board something like a mathematical formula. The vision was very clear, but it stayed only for few seconds and disappeared again. The image did not fill up the entire visual field, it was just like a ‘window’ into that foggy stuff.” “an urban scenery, like an empty avenue after a rain, large areas covered with water, and the city sky-line reflected in the water surface like in a mirror.” “a clearing in a forest [Lichtung], a place bathed in bright sun-shine, and the trunks of trees around. A feeling of a tranquile summer afternoon in a forest, so quiet, so peaceful. And then, suddenly, a young woman passed by on a bicycle, very fast, she crossed the visual field from the right to the left, with her blond long hair waving in the air. The image of the entire scene was very clear, with many details, and yes, the colours were very vivid.” “I can see his face, still, it’s very expressive… [I could see] only the horse that comes as if out of clouds. A white horse that jumped over me.” “A friend of mine and I, we were inside a cave. We made a fire. There was a creek flowing under our feet, and we were on a stone. She had fallen into the creek, and she had to wait to have her things dried. Then she said to me: ‘Hey, move on, we should go now’.” “It was like running a bob sleigh on an uneven runway right down… [There] was snow or maybe water running down… I could hear music, there was music coming from the left side below.” “In the right side of the visual field, a manikin suddenly appeared. He was all in black, had a long narrow head, fairly broad shoulders, very long arms and a relatively small trunk…. He approached me, stretching out his hands, very long, very big, like a bowl, and he stayed so for a while, and then he went back to where he came from, slowly.” You can simulate the Ganzfeld procedure in your own home by taping two half ping-pong balls over your eyes and listing to the radio tuned to static in an evenly lighted room. The other articles in the special issue are also fascinating, and range from a study finding greater body asymmetry is related to higher levels of unusual beliefs – likely reflecting asymmetrical brain development, to an experiment looking at the cognitive psychology of people who believe they’ve been abducted by aliens.

  7. comments section of video menschkeit1 6 years ago where was this EEG purchased? David Spector 5 years ago Always get advice from an expert when you do scientific research. I've done published brainwave research and it's clear to me that this machine IS NOT measuring what we call brainwaves. It appears to be measuring movements of the muscles of the head, with an automatic gain control that causes the measurements to reduce to zero over time. That means, whenever the head moves there is a large measurement on most of the channels, which then decreases to zero. Ken can therefore cause his "brainwaves" to decrease to zero merely by keeping his head still, which he does first lying down and then sitting up. True brainwaves do not work like this, and do not decrease to zero even when the subject has been in a state of self-realization for many years. I had heard that Ken Wilber was an authority on spirituality and am saddened to see him perpetuate a scam like this. Either he is incredibly ignorant about science and brainwaves, or else the scam is deliberate. Either way, shame on you, Ken. M McManus 5 years ago Then how do you explain the asymmetry between the two hemispheres when he is talking at the beginning and only the left side is showing activity? You think he is somehow moving muscles on only the left side of the head? This is a very crude EEG machine, and tons of great research has been done with much more sophisticated equipment. Also how do you explain at 8:10 when he demonstrates a theta wave, as the rest are still near zero? So you actually think this machine is not measuring any sort of brainwave? He would go through the trouble to plot this elaborate trick? He's measuring his brain with a crude EEG machine sir, but it is still an EEG. David Spector 5 years ago @Michael McManus The asymmetry is explained by movement of the head from left to right, or from right to left. The machine is not a crude EEG apparatus. It is a fairly good electromyograph, which measures muscle contractions, which produce several times the voltage of brainwaves. Please specify what you mean by "tons of research" in this context. You seem to have a funny understanding of the science of brainwaves. There is a lot of misinformation out there, especially in New Age or Mystical circles. I hope to God such misinformation doesn't creep into Nonduality circles as well thanks to Wilber. Cheap toys cannot measure brainwaves. Period. Yes, he is either surprisingly ignorant of brainwaves for a well-known public figure, or he is attempting to scam people knowingly. Either way my opinion of him has been affected accordingly. Again, this is clearly not an EEG apparatus. Check with any neurologist you know who runs EEG equipment on patients routinely: have them watch the video and ask them if the lights show EEG or muscle artifact. They will tell you it's all artifact, not EEG. Rey Brannen 5 years ago @David Spector I looked up the machine he is using, it is a model of EEG called the Mind Mirror. You can use a search engine to find static images of it online. Someone in another comment noted that the brainwaves measured on that machine clips at 38 Hz so there is no higher gamma which is often measured in advanced meditation done by Tibetan monks, so perhaps the experiment is flawed in that way. That is to say, perhaps all brainwaves stopped except for gamma but that was not measured so we do not know. Yet at least for now it seems it really is an EEG machine, even if rather crude. I thought perhaps the EMG signals could be interfering with the EEG when he moves, but that would not necessarily normalize it to zero, if anything it should be additive? I suppose there could be other problems with the setup. It does seem a bit odd that the video gets paused when the signal goes to zero instead of allowed to just run. I agree that if someone can really do this it would be great if there were more controlled and formal studies. So I want to believe this, what are your thoughts in light of it being an actual EEG machine? David Spector 5 years ago @Rey Brannen Just because the device used is called a Mind Mirror, and claimed to be a scientifically validated and calibrated EEG machine does not prove that it is working the way an EEG machine should work. Scientists are always careful to weigh and consider deeply what they read, and not believe what they read, as you do, immediately and fully. Advertisers and government leaders love people like you, who believe any claim they read. :-) As I wrote in my other comments, I have observed and worked with high quality medical EEG machines. I know what brainwaves look like. These are not brainwaves. They are muscle contraction signals, along with an automatic gain control circuit that makes the signal go to zero when the muscle activity ceases. Where one would expect to see brainwaves, this machine shows zero signal. This is not happening because Ken Wilber is creating no brainwaves (that is impossible--the brain can''t do that), but because the machine always displays zero when the head is still. As I wrote above in detail, the Mind Mirror only shows a signal when Ken Wilber moves his head. The signal therefore comes from the muscles in Wilber's head. I know you desperately want to believe in wonderful and miraculous events, like Wilber being able to stop his brainwaves, but it isn't happening here. And as I said, either Ken Wilber is incredibly stupid or he is trying to fool people. I can't guess which. But either way, I no longer trust Ken Wilber as a reliable Nonduality academic, as I did previous to seeing this video. Rey Brannen 5 years ago @David Spector You jumped a bit far assuming that I believed this, I thought I made it rather clear that I was skeptical myself. I think that is in part because I got the wrong impression from your original message. I thought you were inferring that the machine was not an EEG machine, whereas after I read it again I see you just said it was not measuring brainwave signals. So my leading off with the statement that it is an EEG machine probably made you think I was trying to refute your position. In point of fact, I also am still quite skeptic of this video. In the intervening few hours since my last comment, I started a thread in a Facebook group of high level biohackers to try to look at this in more detail. Thus far there has been only one full response, but that person is also doubtful of this video. "No way, I've been using brainwave tech since 07 , even then the tech was slower. This video was uploaded in 06 and looks to be older than that. He's using a band , but what lobe is it measuring? There are frequencies groups in every lobe , so to just look at left right is over simplified." He also pointed out as have a few others on the youtube comments have, that full cessation of brainwaves would imply death. So from my vantage point this would also be tantamount to claiming resurrection, of which I am obviously also skeptical :-) Now yes, I want to believe in this in the sense that it would be an amazing result. That is not the same as actually believing it. In the same thread, I also pointed out that recent studies with Tibetan monks, where they are hooked up to 256 electrodes with extremely high resolution EEGs, show a great deal of activity in Gamma during meditation, a result that I suppose Ken would not have predicted back in 2006 if he were looking to prove his own equivalence with contemporary mystics. So, to summarize, unless presented with more compelling evidence, this looks extremely doubtful to say the least. I am all for science working to help prove the 'spiritual' side of life, but I do my best to try to maintain objectivity in that regard. I recently debunked a German study claiming that electrical tCDS stimulation results in lucid dreaming. This was picked up by all the Spirit Science type websites and FB groups as actual proof... and that was a result I wanted to believe as well, because I am an avid lucid dreamer. Anyway, thanks again for your perspective, though it came with barbs it was exactly what I was hoping for :-) David Spector 5 years ago @Rey Brannen I am very relieved to know that I jumped to the conclusion that you had believed that this video truly showed that Wilber was stopping his brainwaves. You have restored my faith that people will not all be taken in by lies. Thank you! Read the other comments, though, to see that some viewers believed what they were told. Well-known and authoritative-sounding people like Wilber have a great power over others that they need to exercise in an ethical and responsible way. Why hasn't he deleted this posting in the past eight years? What does this imply for all his other teachings? Rey Brannen 5 years ago @David Spector I am more skeptic of the results than the intent, I personally do not think that Ken was trying to mislead anyone. Especially after listening to the audiobook for Kosmic Consiousness where he talks a bit more about the experiment. He says that much more advanced research has been done and was rather humble about the results. In that audiobook he also notes that it is not complete cessation of brainwaves, though it does look like it on this device. I suppose that if he did a new experiment in a controlled setting with more advanced equipment we would see different results, but they would still be impressive as he has been meditating for over 40 years now. He states that what he did was not that special and that he expects people who have meditated as long as he has to be able to get similar results (at least on that machine). David Spector 5 years ago @Rey Brannen Demand proof, or at least evidence, of amazing claims. Don't be such a pushover! I've been practicing Transcendental Meditation for 44 years. I doubt that my brainwaves are anything special, even though I have received benefits in my daily life from TM (elimination of stresses). It is clear to me that Wilber has a gigantic ego, and gets a rush from controlling people through spiritual nonsense. Why is this not clear to everyone? Rey Brannen 5 years ago I guess I do not know enough about him to make a real judgement either way, and even if I did I still probably would not be too bothered by it. I tend to have a jeet kun do philosophy, i.e. "take the good leave the bad", so even if he does have a huge Ego as you say, that is unlikely to bother me. And I certainly don't feel controlled by him in any way. I practice dream yoga and there were some interesting things I learned from listening to Ken that related to this practice that I had not heard anywhere else despite a lot of study in that area. And this video made me think in new ways regardless of what we have already discussed about its likely demerits. Plus, I learned a lot from you as well David, and I thank you for that. If all this makes me a pushover, then I will just stand guilty as charged :-) Namaste! David Spector 5 years ago @Rey Brannen I am not blaming you for anything. Like most folks, you don't have the scientific background to appreciate Wilber's incredible ignorance of science (or possibly his ability to scam). I am only concerned because Wliber has a great ability to partner with others in creating events and organizations. I don't want anyone to be hurt by him in any way.
  8. Global dimming Global dimming is the gradual reduction in the amount of global direct irradiance at the Earth's surface that was observed for several decades after the start of systematic measurements in the 1950s. The effect varies by location, but worldwide it has been estimated to be of the order of a 4% reduction over the three decades from 1960–1990. However, after discounting an anomaly caused by the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991, a very slight reversal in the overall trend has been observed.[1] Global dimming is thought to have been caused by an increase in particulates such as sulfate aerosols in the atmosphere due to human action. It has interfered with the hydrological cycle by reducing evaporation and may have reduced rainfall in some areas. Global dimming also creates a cooling effect that may have partially counteracted the effect of greenhouse gases on global warming. The incomplete combustion of fossil fuels (such as diesel) and wood releases black carbon into the air. Though black carbon, most of which is soot, is an extremely small component of air pollution at land surface levels, the phenomenon has a significant heating effect on the atmosphere at altitudes above two kilometers (6,562 ft). Also, it dims the surface of the ocean by absorbing solar radiation Recent reversal of the trend Further information: Clean Air Act (United States) Sun-blocking aerosols around the world steadily declined (red line) since the 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo, according to satellite estimates. Credit: Michael Mishchenko, NASA Wild et al., using measurements over land, report brightening since 1990,[12][13][14] and Pinker et al.[15] found that slight dimming continued over land while brightening occurred over the ocean.[16] Hence, over the land surface, Wild et al. and Pinker et al. disagree. A 2007 NASA sponsored satellite-based study sheds light on the puzzling observations by other scientists that the amount of sunlight reaching Earth's surface had been steadily declining in recent decades, began to reverse around 1990. This switch from a "global dimming" trend to a "brightening" trend happened just as global aerosol levels started to decline.[2][17] It is likely that at least some of this change, particularly over Europe, is due to decreases in airborne pollution. Most governments of developed nations have taken steps to reduce aerosols released into the atmosphere, which helps reduce global dimming.[18] Sulfate aerosols have declined significantly since 1970 with the Clean Air Act in the United States and similar policies in Europe. The Clean Air Act was strengthened in 1977 and 1990. According to the EPA, from 1970 to 2005, total emissions of the six principal air pollutants, including PM’s, dropped by 53% in the US. In 1975, the masked effects of trapped greenhouse gases finally started to emerge and have dominated ever since.[19] The Baseline Surface Radiation Network (BSRN) has been collecting surface measurements. BSRN was started in the early 1990s and updated the archives in this time. Analysis of recent data reveals that the surface of the planet has brightened by about 4% in the past decade. The brightening trend is corroborated by other data, including satellite analyses. Relationship to global warming Some scientists now consider that the effects of global dimming have masked the effect of global warming to some extent and that resolving global dimming may therefore lead to increases in predictions of future temperature rise.[20] According to Beate Liepert, "We lived in a global warming plus a global dimming world and now we are taking out global dimming. So we end up with the global warming world, which will be much worse than we thought it will be, much hotter."[21] The magnitude of this masking effect is one of the central problems in current climate change with significant implications for future climate changes and policy responses to global warming.[20] Interactions between the two theories for climate modification have also been studied, as global warming and global dimming are neither mutually exclusive nor contradictory. In a paper published on March 8, 2005 in the American Geophysical Union's Geophysical Research Letters, a research team led by Anastasia Romanou of Columbia University's Department of Applied Physics and Mathematics, New York, also showed that the apparently opposing forces of global warming and global dimming can occur at the same time.[22] Global dimming interacts with global warming by blocking sunlight that would otherwise cause evaporation and the particulates bind to water droplets. Water vapor is the major greenhouse gas. On the other hand, global dimming is affected by evaporation and rain. Rain has the effect of clearing out polluted skies. Brown clouds have been found to amplify global warming according to Veerabhadran Ramanathan, an atmospheric chemist at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, California. "The conventional thinking is that brown clouds have masked as much as 50 percent of global warming by greenhouse gases through so-called global dimming... While this is true globally, this study reveals that over southern and eastern Asia, the soot particles in the brown clouds are in fact amplifying the atmospheric warming trend caused by greenhouse gases by as much as 50 percent. Possible use to mitigate global warming Further information: Solar radiation management, Mitigation of global warming, and Albedo Some scientists have suggested using aerosols to stave off the effects of global warming as an emergency geoengineering measure.[28] In 1974, Mikhail Budyko suggested that if global warming became a problem, the planet could be cooled by burning sulfur in the stratosphere, which would create a haze.[29][30] An increase in planetary albedo of just 0.5 percent is sufficient to halve the effect of a CO2 doubling.[31] The simplest solution would be to simply emit more sulfates, which would end up in troposphere - the lowest part of the atmosphere. If this were done, Earth would still face many problems, such as: Using sulfates causes environmental problems such as acid rain Using carbon black causes human health problems Dimming causes ecological problems such as changes in evaporation and rainfall patterns[ Droughts and/or increased rainfall cause problems for agriculture Aerosol has a relatively short lifetime The solution advocated is transporting sulfates into the next higher layer of the atmosphere - stratosphere. Aerosols in the stratosphere last years instead of weeks - so only a relatively smaller (though still large) amount of sulfate emissions would be necessary, and side effects would be less. This would require developing an efficient way to transport large amounts of gases into stratosphere, many of which have been proposed though none are known to be effective or economically viable.[33] In a blog post, Gavin Schmidt stated that "Ideas that we should increase aerosol emissions to counteract global warming have been described as a 'Faustian bargain' because that would imply an ever increasing amount of emissions in order to match the accumulated greenhouse gas in the atmosphere, with ever increasing monetary and health costs."

  12. Bruce Lipton says the subconscious mind responds to repetitious affirmations that are done over time (The reprogramming part is discussed 28:25 before that related discussion on epigenetics etc) Bruce H. Lipton, PhD is an internationally recognized leader in bridging science and spirit. Stem cell biologist, bestselling author of The Biology of Belief and recipient of the 2009 Goi Peace Award, he has been a guest speaker on hundreds of TV and radio shows, as well as keynote presenter for national and international conferences. @hypfi Dr. Lipton began his scientific career as a cell biologist. He received his Ph.D. Degree from the University of Virginia at Charlottesville before joining the Department of Anatomy at the University of Wisconsin’s School of Medicine in 1973. Dr. Lipton’s research on muscular dystrophy, studies employing cloned human stem cells, focused upon the molecular mechanisms controlling cell behavior. An experimental tissue transplantation technique developed by Dr. Lipton and colleague Dr. Ed Schultz and published in the journal Science was subsequently employed as a novel form of human genetic engineering. In 1982, Dr. Lipton began examining the principles of quantum physics and how they might be integrated into his understanding of the cell’s information processing systems. He produced breakthrough studies on the cell membrane, which revealed that this outer layer of the cell was an organic homologue of a computer chip, the cell’s equivalent of a brain. His research at Stanford University’s School of Medicine, between 1987 and 1992, revealed that the environment, operating though the membrane, controlled the behavior and physiology of the cell, turning genes on and off. His discoveries, which ran counter to the established scientific view that life is controlled by the genes, presaged one of today’s most important fields of study, the science of epigenetics. Two major scientific publications derived from these studies defined the molecular pathways connecting the mind and body. Many subsequent papers by other researchers have since validated his concepts and ideas. Dr. Lipton’s novel scientific approach transformed his personal life as well. His deepened understanding of cell biology highlighted the mechanisms by which the mind controls bodily functions, and implied the existence of an immortal spirit. He applied this science to his personal biology, and discovered that his physical well-being improved, and the quality and character of his daily life was greatly enhanced. Welcome to PSYCH-K® and the Evolution of Consciousness Rob Williams, Originator of PSYCH-K® The overall mission of PSYCH-K is to Nurture Sacred Global Evolution. To be more specific, I have noticed that many people seem to have forgotten their true identity as spiritual beings having a human experience. When your subconscious beliefs are aligned with this fundamental truth, you will be freed from a kind of prison of limiting beliefs. These beliefs can limit who you are, as well as who you want to be. My personal life experience, as well as 14 years as a psychotherapist, taught me that the source of nearly all suffering, no matter whether it is mental, physical, or emotional, comes from the basic illusion of separation from our true Spiritual Nature. There are many paths, and many names for our Spiritual Source, but all paths have to navigate through the “roadblocks” of the subconscious mind. Often the subconscious is like a mine-field of limiting beliefs and old outdated “programs” that are no longer worthy of who you are, or who you are becoming. These limiting subconscious beliefs affect all aspects of your life including; your relationships, self-esteem, financial prosperity, career choices, even your health and fitness. PSYCH-K helps you clear a safe path through those “roadblocks” to a new place of expanded potential in every area of your life. We are in the process of a monumental shift in human consciousness, of which we are all playing a part, consciously and subconsciously. The bad news is that the problems we face are formidable. The good news is that solutions are available. And, the best news is that we are the solution! That is, if we can evolve our consciousness to a new level of thinking. As Albert Einstein said, we can’t solve a problem from the level of thinking that created it. Research shows that PSYCH-K creates a Whole-Brain State, which in turn acts as a kind of “gateway to higher consciousness,” elevating thinking capacity to new levels of functionality and creativity. It is this higher state of consciousness that is needed in order to help solve the problems we face, personally and globally. When you change yourself, you change the world! PSYCH-K is: a non-invasive, interactive process of change with a proven record of success for over 25 years! a simple, yet powerful process to change subconscious beliefs that are self-limiting and self-sabotaging a unique blend of various tools for change, some contemporary and some ancient, derived from contemporary neuroscience research, as well as ancient mind/body wisdom a ground breaking approach to facilitating change at the subconscious level where at least 95% of our consciousness operates. a process that transcends the standard methods of visualization, affirmations, will power, and positive thinking especially effective in the areas of behavioral/habit change, wellness and stress reduction ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ @Hypnofrik If you get a chance maybe you could look over these videos a little and maybe comment but some of it might be related to your aims What if the script address the root or the problem and then you listen to a recording of the session later? Also how efficient is self hypnoses as compared to seeing a hypnotherapist and what is your favorite book on self hypnosis that you think would be most useful to someone trying to use it on themselves ?
  13. So he measures people's muscles to determine their level of consciousness. Can you link published any peer reviewed articles in science journals of his on this particular research?
  14. Yes sometimes it takes years of work but it seems to comes to people in different ways. some other spiritual teachers, some very famous, claim to have become enlightened spontaneously with no preparation and by surprise, Sadhguru and Eckhart Tolle and Sadhguru for instance. Theirs was not sparked by psychedelics. However within the psychedelic enlightenment here you report only a few experiences but others have had years of experiences with psychedelics yet often do not report permanent awakening as do. So there seems to be a lot of variation. Certain types of trauma can also inspire these events here is my other thread maybe you can comment on it I love you ha. first
  15. @LfcCharlie4 The "Map of Consciousness" illumines heretofore unknown aspects of consciousness. With each progressive rise in the level of consciousness, the "frequency" or "vibration" of energy increases. Thus, higher consciousness radiates a beneficial and healing effect on the world, verifiable in the human muscle response which stays strong in the presence of love and truth. In contrast, non–true or negative energy fields which "calibrate" below the level of integrity induce a weak muscle response. This stunning discovery of the difference between "power" and "force" has influenced numerous fields of human endeavor: business, advertising, education, psychology, medicine, law, and international relations. https://www.amazon.com/Power-vs-Force-David-Hawkins/dp/1561709336/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 Sir David R. Hawkins, M.D., Ph.D. is a nationally renowned psychiatrist, physician, researcher, spiritual teacher and lecturer. The uniqueness of his contribution to humanity comes from the advanced state of spiritual awareness known as " Enlightenment," "Self–Realization," and "Unio Mystica." Dr. Hawkins entered the field of medicine to alleviate human pain and distress, and his work as a physician was pioneering. As Medical Director of the North Nassau Mental Health Center (1956–1980) and Director of Research at Brunswick Hospital (1968–1979) on Long Island, his clinic was the largest practice in the United States, including a suite of twenty–five offices, two thousand outpatients, and several research laboratories. In 1973, he co–authored the ground–breaking work, Orthomolecular Psychiatry with Nobel Laureate chemist Linus Pauling, initiating a new field within psychiatry. His clinical breakthroughs brought appearances on The Today Show, The Barbara Walters Show and The Mcneil/Leher News Hour. In the 1970s, he co–founded several psychiatric organizations, including the Editorial Board of the Journal of Schizophrenia and the Attitudinal Healing Center in New York. What can we do for Mankind? Dr. Hawkins answers, "We can be a more forgiving, loving, understanding, compassionate kind of person we can be, toward all of life; the reverence for all of life, in all of its expressions. "..."So what we do for all of mankind is to be as loving toward all of life as we can be, thereby blessing all of mankind, thereby raising it's level of consciousness, thereby lifting all with us." 17. 17 Levels of Consciousness Description of Each Level of Consciousness from the book Power vs. Force , 2002 by David Hawkins I will provide a description of each level, starting with the bottom-most level. As you read this, think about the level that you resonate most with now: 1) Shame (1-20): Someone at this level feels humiliated, has low self-esteem, and is paranoid. Common feelings by someone at this level include feeling like he/she has “lost face,” wishing that he/she is invisible and feeling worthless. Some individuals react by becoming overly rigid or neurotic perfectionists. Vibrating at this level for prolonged periods leads to elimination (of self and others), such as suicide, turning into serial killers, rapists, or moral extremists who apply self-righteous judgment onto others. A person’s life view at this state is misery. 2) Guilt (30): Feelings of blame and remorse hover in this level. These feelings are used to consciously or subconsciously manipulate conformance to certain forms of thinking and behaviors. This level is dominant in governments who are high-handed and uses heavy public punishment; in societies with a blame culture; and in religious institutions with a preoccupation with “sin” and “salvation.” This level cultivates destruction. Hawkins cites the life view as evil, though I disagree and feel that condemnation is more adept. A person at the level of guilt is not necessarily evil nor does he/she see the world as evil, but rather focuses a lot on condemning self and others. 3) Apathy (50): A state of helplessness, despair, and despondency. Someone here is needy and dependent on others for help, such as the homeless and poor. Because this level feels “heavy” and is seen as a burden, many people usually avoid those vibrating at these levels. For example, in some countries, we see how the poor and less fortunate are segmented away from mainstream society. We also frequently see situations where the aged are abandoned by their own kin because they are seen as a liability. This level is associated with abdication, which means to give up one’s power to others. The life view here is hopelessness. Advertisement 4) Grief (75): Feelings of regret, sadness, and loss are abundant here. Many people vibrate at this level in times of loss — of loved ones, relationships, possessions, jobs, and wealth. The outcome is mourning, feeling remorse, regret, and being hung up over what has happened. Someone grieving feels despondent and bleak about the world and life around him/her. The life view is tragic. Grief is a higher level than apathy because one starts feeling more energy at this level, albeit energies of sadness and loss. 5) Fear (100): The energy at this level in anxiety. Common kinds of fear at play would be the fear of rejection, fear of failure, fear of uncertainty, fear of challenges, fear of aging, fear of death, fear of loss, and fear of strangers. This emotion is often played on by marketers and politicians to achieve their agendas. Fear leads to paranoia and can turn into an obsession. At this level, one views everything uncertain as fearful and thus undergoes a state of withdrawal. Thus, fear prevents personal growth from taking place. Someone at this level sees the world as frightening. 6) Desire (125): At the level of desire, the emotion of craving becomes dominant. We have people pursuing money and status as end goals for a better life, lonely singles longing to be in romantic relationships believing that it will complete themselves, marketers conditioning ‘wants’ in people via enticing advertisements and promises of happiness with the consumption of goods, and fashion industry playing on people’s desires to be more attractive and wanted, just to name a few. Addictions are outputs of desire, such as the desire for food, video games, fun, sex, shopping, and money and power. One becomes looped into enslavement at this level because desire is a never-ending emotion. The life view is disappointing, which happens when one cannot obtain what one desires. Desire is a higher level than fear because the desire for something propels someone into action rather than withdraw into a corner. 7) Anger (150): The emotion at this level is hate. Anger expresses itself as resentment, frustration, even revenge. Common manifestations of anger in our society today can be seen in people’s irritable behavior, toxic conversations on the internet, arguments between family members, and at the worst end of the spectrum, murder and war. Because anger is a highly charged feeling, someone who channels this energy constructively will move up to the next level and create positive change — such as via activism (of animal rights, human rights, environmental causes, etc.). Such uses of anger have resulted in the liberation and great movements in society. On the other hand, people who use anger destructively such as to shame, hate, and harm others, create more destruction. The process one undergoes is aggression. The life view here is antagonistic, where one is hostile, unfriendly, and acts in opposition against others. 8) Pride (175): Hawkins cite scorn as the dominant feeling of pride, though I disagree. I feel dignity is a more representative emotion for this level. Scorn comes as a result of this dignity, though it may be too subtle for people to recognize. In our current society, pride is a level that is encouraged and seen as positive — for example, the pride of being part of a group, institution, company, nation, religion, and race. Advertisement But this leads to a duality, which acts as an invisible force to separate people. For example, nations exist because people identify themselves more with a geographical location rather than a common, universal identity. Religions exist because people attach themselves to their beliefs of god and values, which separate them from the “others.” On a personal level, people develop pride based on their possessions and career achievements, and this is dangerous because such conditions can be removed at any point in time. Pride results in denial and arrogance. At pride, one undergoes inflation (of ego) rather than see things objectively. The life view here is demanding. 9) Courage (200): Affirmation is the key emotion here. This is the separation point between Power and Force, where one starts to create change by using constructive uses of power rather than destructive force. This is the first waking point when one starts to wake from his/her sleepwalker status. At the lower levels before this, the world is seen as hopeless, tragic, frightening, demanding, and antagonistic; people below 200 see themselves as victims, at the mercy of life, and subjected to the forces of the external world. At the level of courage, one sees the world as exciting and filled with possibilities. One undergoes empowerment here. This marks the start of active pursuit of growth. When one sees a gap in their knowledge and abilities, they will act to fill it. For example, learning new job skills, embarking on further education, pursuing personal growth. The life view is feasible – anything is manageable since the person is willing to take action to deal with uncomfortable situations in life. People in levels of >200 recognize that their happiness lies in their hands. 10) Neutrality (250): The emotions at this level are trust and safety. Here, people are non-judgmental, objective, and able to see things as they truly are. They are not attached to possessions, situations, results, and can roll with the punches in life. If they are not able to get something, they are equally happy settling for something else. This is NOT the same as apathy – the power of neutrality comes from a positive place, where one recognizes his/her power, ability, and worth, and does not feel the need to prove anything to anyone. On the other hand, apathy comes from feeling forsaken, resulting in nonchalance and jadedness toward the external world. The process is one of release (of everything). The life view is satisfactory, where anything goes. These people are easy to get along; however, they are difficult to engage toward causes and visions because they are detached toward everything. 11) Willingness (310): Optimism runs high here. At Willingness, the individual is open to doing anything and everything – he/she is not bounded by others’ judgments or limitations. For example, he/she is willing to take on menial jobs if he/she cannot get jobs elsewhere. The difference between Willingness and the levels below it is that at Willingness, one is passionate about doing things well rather than just doing things. Someone at Willingness can readily bounce back from setbacks, is easily moldable, and is genuinely open to everyone. Success follows them easily. The process one undergoes here is of intention (to do anything). The life view is hopefulness. At this level you have people who perform extremely well in their careers in corporations, startups; however as they develop great skills, the question comes to whether they are investing their energy in the best way. 12) Acceptance (350): In my opinion, this marks the second waking point for an individual, where he/she is fully awake from his/her sleepwalker status. Here, one realizes that he/she is THE creator and source of his/her life, as opposed to having relegated part of his/her power to someone else or a different entity. He/she (1) is aware of the social constructs present in one’s life, whether family, society, nation, religion, or work, (2) is able to discern against (limiting) beliefs, viewpoints, and social conditioning, and (3) can consciously craft his/her life above and beyond these social constructs. The behavior at this level is acceptance vs. rejection, seeking for resolution vs. judging whether something is right or wrong, having a long-term vs. short-term view, engaging in life harmoniously based on its terms vs. resisting it, and striving for excellence and growth. Forgiveness is the dominant emotion. The process one undergoes is transcendence (above what one faces in life). The life view here is harmonious. 13) Reason (400): The emotion is understanding and rationality. One seeks out huge amounts of information and analyzes them to infinitesimal detail before reaching a conclusion. This is where the noble prize winners, leaders of science and medicine, and great thinkers of history are at. However, someone at the level of Reason falls into the trap of over-intellectualization in concepts and theories. When theories clash and each argument is sound on its own, we reach a blockade, leading to the inability to resolve discrepancies. This leads to the process of abstraction or preoccupation with data. The life view is meaningful. 14) Love (500): This represents unconditional love – love that is pure, unfaltering, unwavering, not subjected to any external condition. It is not the same love commonly portrayed in mass media, which is rooted in lust, desire, pride, control, addiction, attraction, jealousy, and possessiveness. While the media often establish love and hate as opposites, hate is actually rooted in pride (desire for control/possessiveness), not actual love. Reverence is the main emotion in this level of (unconditional) love. At this level, duality becomes an illusion; the feeling is one of entirety that rises above separation. Unconditional love is inclusive of everyone and expands beyond self. While reason deals with data, love deals with entirety, thus giving rise to the capacity for instantaneous understanding. This aspect is often linked with intuition. The process one undergoes is revelation. The life view is benign: there is no separation, fear or negativity. According to Hawkin, only 0.4% of the population (1 in every 250 people) ever reaches this level. 15) Joy (540): The dominant emotion is serenity and compassion. This is the inner joy that arises from every moment of existence rather than from an external source. This is the level where saints, advanced spiritual students and healers dwell. At this level, one is characterized by enormous patience and an unwavering positive attitude in the face of harsh adversities. The world is seen as one of perfection and beauty. Individuals are motivated to dedicate themselves to the benefit of life rather than for specific individuals. Here, transfiguration occurs, where there is an inner serenity and emanating of radiance and compassion for others. The life view is completeness (of the world). Near-death experiences have the effect of temporarily bumping people into this level. 16) Peace (600): The emotion is bliss. At this level, there is no longer any distinction between the observer and the subject. People here become spiritual teachers and great geniuses in their field to effect great contribution to mankind; they transcend formal religious structures and replace it with pure spirituality which is where religions originate. Perception becomes one of slow motion, suspended in time and space. Everything is perceived as interconnected by an infinite presence. The process one undergoes is illumination. The life view is perfect. Hawkins claims that this level is only attained by 1 out of 10 million people. 17) Enlightenment (700-1000): The emotion is ineffable, in other words – inexpressible. This is the pinnacle of the evolution of consciousness by mankind. The greatest people in history have attained this level, such as Krishna, Buddha, and Jesus. Here, the body becomes recognized as a tool to project consciousness. One’s existence becomes all-encompassing and transcends time and space. The process is described as pure consciousness. The life view here is simply ‘Is‘. As we achieve our highest potential and live our best life, we should strive for the highest possible level of enlightenment.
  18. "reason" in this context means "good reason" as in "reasonable". As in one choice is is terrible but the other is reasonable or satisfactory/acceptable The word "cause" is different. So what we are really dealing with three questions 1) Is every event that occurs caused by a previous event ? 2) Does everything happen for a good reason? 3) If an event occurs and it's caused by a previous event does that mean it's random? Also you have created a topic that is not in question form but your initial post is in question form. The title also has the word "random" in it but that word is not mentioned in the initial post. "Reason" and "random" in many instances are relative terms. meaning that they are applied to interpret specific events in relation to person's personal interest
  19. I see this is another list based on 1000 from the books Power vs. Force Paperback – March 5, 2002 I wonder if this inspired Ramaji's LOC list from 2014
  20. @LfcCharlie4 Is that LOC chat ever used to describe temporary awakenings?
  21. @blankisomeone there you have his definition and it may not have been your defintion Now lets go back to your whole inquiry here and switch to equivalent term: The "existence" of "evil" and "suffering" as EVIDENCE of Infinite Freedom I watched Leo's most recent video about death. At some point in the video he says that some people can't bring themselves to "believe" that Life as we perceive it is the result and manifestation of the purest form of Freedom. People have difficulty seeing this because of the existence of evil and suffering. But Leo said something along the lines of evil and suffering being not only non-existent but also EVIDENCE of Infinite Freedom. _________________________________ So he's saying the highest meta form of love is freedom. Other forms like romantic love directed at an individual or love of chocolate ice cream or Beethoven symphonies are not the same thing, they are preferential attitudes
