  1. “The pollution of the planet is only an outward reflection of an inner psychic pollution: millions of unconscious individuals not taking responsibility for their inner space.” ~ Eckhart Tolle I don’t want to tell anyone how much water they should use or shouldn’t use. But whatever you do – make it as conscious as possible. If you become conscious, you will only use as much as you need to. This will make a world of difference. Right now, we are behaving as if we’re the last generation on the planet. ~ Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev When you live consciously, your response to situation that arise will be agile and appropriate. ~ Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev

India has gifted over 55 lakh doses of coronavirus vaccine to neighboring countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives and so on. Shipments to Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Mauritius were awaiting regulatory clearances. https://science.thewire.in/health/india-vaccine-deliveries-south-asia/ India authorised two vaccine candidates this month for emergency use at home, one licensed from Oxford University and AstraZeneca and another developed at home by Bharat Biotech in partnership with the state-run Indian Council of Medical Research. Both are manufactured locally. Many low and middle-income countries are relying on India, the world’s biggest vaccine maker, for supplies to start COVID-19 immunisation programmes and bring an end to their outbreaks. “The Pharmacy of the World will deliver to overcome the COVID challenge,” foreign minister S. Jaishankar said on Twitter, adding the first vaccine candidates’ lots had reached Bhutan and the Maldives.
  3. Yesterday, as I was arriving from the market after buying a pair of slippers, I stopped at a scenic place full of greenery and with young buffalo calves tied to trees. As I was enjoying the scene I found that there was a slaughterhouse in a nearby building and the animals were actually meant for slaughter. Having seen a few youtube videos recently on the brutality of animal slaughter in slaughterhouses, I sympathized with the young calves and felt sorry for them. One of the calves was bleating a lot repeatedly indicating stress, and I went forward to it hoping to comfort it a bit. Interestingly, the calf, seeing me coming near, itself came near to me indicating interest in sociability and companionship. I stroked his head and face lovingly for some time, at which he visibly relaxed. He poked his face at me for some more strokes which I obliged. The continuous bleating stopped, and he started eating the grass around staying next to me, peacefully. While stroking, I was surprised to see a clear dark line of tear streams from his eyes to the lower part of his face. I wondered whether this was actually tears of emotion, or tears associated with eye infection or hormonal biochemical changes or something. (Checking the internet today I found that there had been an instance of a calf visibly crying after its mother was knocked down dead by a truck while crossing a road. There were similar articles in this regard. https://sg.tv.yahoo.com/newsflare/buffalo-calf-cries-mother-gets-120000441.html ) Later reflecting on this experience, I remembered a orphaned girl I met a decade back, and whose head I stroked affectionately. She had similarly and very tangibly relaxed after a single friendly stroke on the head. Imo, based on these experiences, children, whether human or animal, are quite sensitive and insecure when without their family, and suffer from high stress levels. I think, in terms of animal rights, young calves should be exempt from slaughter at least till they had matured or grown up. Returning back home I was glad that I had turned to vegetarianism and was not contributing to animal slaughter in this regard.
  4. You might find these sayings by Swami Vivekananda, insightful and helpful in strengthening your convictions for self-mastery and identifying the natural bliss within yourself. https://vivekavani.com/swami-vivekananda-quotes-pleasure/
  5. As per the Prajapita Brahmakumari religious philosophy, peace and joy are the natural qualities of the soul, but these are obscured by intense desires in the form of cravings and aversions for pleasure and pain, due to identification with the mind-body complex, and which produces misery and suffering. Rather than being in the state of pure consciousness , one identifies blindly with the temporary body and consequently experiences negative emotions and vices in the form of lust, hatred, greed, inordinate attachment and egoism. This state is known as body-consciousness, and body-consciousness is considered as the source of all vices. Considering oneself as an eternal conscious soul in a temporary body and identifying with the consciousness within is considered as soul-consciousness. This generates peace and tranquility in the system. Thus heaven and hell is considered as a state of mind or consciousness.
  6. There is a lot of truth in this statement. Georges Hébert , the French founder of Hebertism ( a training programme encompassing physical fitness and ethical behavior) had as his personal motto , "Être fort pour être utile" ("Be strong to be helpful"). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georges_Hébert
  7. Psychological pain arises when the situation at present does not conform to our desires (craving/aversion). The magnitude of pain will be proportional to the degree of magnitude of our desires not satisfied. Or to the extent we are unconsciously rejecting the situation or present moment. Stronger our desires, the more the mind will be in psychological time, that is, in the past or future rather than present moment awareness, and this is said to be productive of psychological misery in corresponding proportion due to its unnatural state. We can either try to satisfy our desires, which however tends to multiply with time, or we can consciously reduce our desires with reasoning based on wisdom, and focus on our legitimate needs instead.
  8. https://www.downtoearth.org.in/coverage/bon-appetit-with-sun-40457 In 2007, both the German and Indian governments worked with the spiritual institution of Prajapita Brahmakumaris to create the world's largest solar cooker and a solar thermal power plant in Talheti at the base of Mount Abu, Rajasthan, India where the international headquarters of the Prajapita Brahmakumaris is located. This resulted in considerable decrease in consumption of carbon based fossil fuels and creating a pollution free environment. 38000 vegetarian meals can be potentially cooked at one go at the solar kitchen. At present, the food is being cooked for around 17,500 people from India and all over the world who are either residing in or visiting the campus. The kitchen and the roof have been designed by Switzerland-based Wolfgang Scheffler, regarded as the father of solar community kitchens, along with BKWSU’s renewable energy department. The entire solar installation generates 3.6 tonnes of steam every day which is used for preparing food and drinks. Around 50 kg of rice can be cooked within 12 minutes. “It saves around 200 litres of diesel and 1.2 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions in a day. The kitchen also saves 184 kg of LPG every day,” says Aneta Loj, research and development coordinator, India One Solar Thermal power project at BKWSU. The project was conceived and executed with the objective of developing a green technology which is suitable for India and can be replicated elsewhere. Hopefully, this successful model of green energy can inspire similar initiatives all around the world, especially community kitchens, and reduce dependence on fossil fuels further.
  9. I like the way you systematically charted out your progress for total review. Inspiring and educative indeed.
  10. Thought alone, when it is no longer connected with the much vaster realm of consciousness, quickly becomes barren, insane, destructive. ~ Eckhart Tolle When scientific or rational thinking is grounded in presence it has a completely different outcome. It can never be monstrous. ~ Jean Klein
  11. I am glad to see your love for your mother and interest in her rejuvenation. There is an Islamic saying that heaven lies at the feet of mothers. My mom is also a bit of a perfectionist and used to lose her temper for trivial reasons. Her temper improved a lot after we got a sweet dog for ourselves who loves mom deeply and follows her around. Also we got a new house where she could work on her garden which she lacked before. She loves gardening. I think you need to find your mom's interests and provide an outlet for her creative energies.
  12. This was very insightful and helpful. I remember reading similar sayings of spiritual masters who similarly stressed mental equanimity and calmness ... If the mind wavers, difficulty will embrace you. ~ Ambalal Muljibhai Patel ( Dada Bhagwan ) Falling suddenly into a lake persons who do not know how to swim, can save themselves by simply preserving their equanimity. The specific gravity of man being less than that of water, he will keep floating on the surface. But ordinary human beings lose their balance of mind and by their very struggle to float get drowned. So oftentimes the very unrest for the future causes failure. ~ Rama Tirtha It is good to be reminded of such wise sayings from time to time, in order to impress it better in our minds needlessly agitated by worries and fears.

  14. An excerpt from the book 'How to think' by Sister Pari of the Prajapita Brahmakumaris on the necessity of thought management for proper life management... A problem is solved by making an indepth study, understanding its root causes and managing it intelligently. Here we find the Prajapita Brahmakumaris stating that the habits and characters we develop have their root cause in the thoughts we allow ourselves to think. Rather than allowing our compulsive thoughts and emotions to propel us to compulsive behavior and activities, by being aware of our thoughts in the first place, we can put a rein on our turbulent thoughts and emotions and restrain them from carrying us to activities which are wasteful and shallow, and instead divert these energies to productive channels.
  15. Wholesome virtuous behavior progressively leads to the foremost. ~ Buddha AN 10.1 When even one virtue becomes our nature, the mind becomes clean and tranquil. Then there is no need to practice meditation; we will automatically be meditating always. ~ Swami Satchidananda If you do right, irrespective of what the other does, it will slow down the mind. ~ Rajini Menon
  16. https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/goa/brahma-kumaris-assist-collectors-office-help-police-on-duty/articleshow/75957598.cms The Prajapita Brahmakumaris rose to the occasion assisting the civil administration in Goa, India during the Covid crisis by distributing immunity boosting Ayurvedic tea among policemen on duty as well as assisting the office of the North Goa collector in packaging essential items for supply to the needy. When the state government appealed for assistance during lockdown period from March 31 to May 3 2020, the Prajapita Brahmakumaris unit in Goa responded enthusiastically. “The sisters of Brahma Kumaris sewed masks in keeping with the medically approved design and distributed them at the district collector's office and other government offices ", said Shobha Behenji, Goa Zone director, Brahmakumaris. This is a great example of how spiritual institutions can work in tandem with state governments to plug the gaps in manpower or resources or facilities during times of humanitarian crises, and ensure proper and timely services to those in need. The Prajapita Brahmakumaris is the only spiritual organization in the world led, administered and taught by women and they have teaching centers in almost all countries in the world where they teach their religious philosophy and meditation techniques freely to the public. One of its dominant themes is the empowerment of women to roles of spiritual and social leadership throughout the world to effect positivity and harmony in society.
  17. Supernatural powers were discouraged by Sri Ramakrishna on the grounds that it builds the ego and strengthens the false self rather than eliminate it. This results in spiritual exercises becoming counterproductive. This is because the ego seeks attention, and supernatural powers ensures this attention is attained. This also explains the desire for political power or wealth beyond one's legitimate needs.
  18. Self-awareness is yoga. ~ Nisargadatta Maharaj The great perfection is non-conceptual awareness. ~ Dzogchen Evil is an extreme manifestation of human unconsciousness. ~ Eckhart Tolle
  19. Sister Shivani of the Prajapita Brahmakumaris also similarly states thus, "The more we blame people and situations for how we feel, the more we will cross every scene unaware of our responsibility. When we take personal responsibility for our state of being, attention will be only on what we create, irrespective of situation." By accepting the situation as it is and people as they are, one makes the mind immune to outer influence and concentrates instead on one's inner state of being. This makes the mind equanimious and still, leading to better clarity of mind. Better clarity of mind will translate to correct actions externally, appropriate to the situation . On the other hand, outright emotional rejection of the situation and people around will lead to negativity and reactivity, which makes the mind turbulent, prevents clear thinking and consequently brings incorrect actions which further exacerbates the situation.
  20. 'When the mind is silent, intuition will speak. ' ~ Prajapita Brahmakumaris Intuition is doing the right thing at the right place at the right time through inspiration. This inspiration rises when the mind is still, equanimous and in present moment awareness. However, a certain amount of austerity is needed for attaining mental equanimity, stillness and be in present moment awareness. This is because the natural tendency of the turbulent mind is to be in past or future, tending to reactivity and negativity, and it takes a bit of practice to orient it in awareness.
  21. I agree with this. When there is creativity or creative challenges, the sexual urge diminishes on its own and one surprisingly becomes oblivious to it. I have also read about the ancient Greeks in the Olympic games practicing celibacy to enhance their physical and mental strength. Same with eastern martial artists as well as international football teams prior to a competition. So people instinctively connect celibacy with greater strength and energy through experience. Sexual release brings with it mental and physical fatigue earlier and one lacks the energy to pursue meaningful activities . Eastern psychology associates celibacy with greater physical and mental energy, along with memory power and mental strength. The sexual energy, if properly controlled and channeled, gets transformed to higher states of consciousness. But as the others here stated, it is something that should be done with awareness and mental equanimity. Spiritual exercises done in early morning can help to bring about the necessary self-discipline needed in this regard. The bliss that comes with practice of awareness or meditation, can also help to reduce the intensity of sexual urges, as the bliss is much superior to sexual pleasure and consequently one gradually loses interest in it.
  22. I consider emotion to be different from feeling. Feeling is connected with the higher Self or awareness while emotion is connected with the ego or lower self . Hatred, lust, greed are also emotions. I am trying to reduce all personal emotions in myself by being impersonal and objective, and cultivate conscious feelings of total love and compassion instead.
  23. Karma is but cause and effect. We sow what we reap. So if we are reaping weeds in life, we need to focus attention on what we sow so that we can reap delicious fruits and vegetables instead later on. Here is an article on Karma by Sister Mohini Panjabi of the Prajapita Brahmakumaris which can help frame a positive understanding of karma...
  24. Awareness is who we are and forgetting that leads to suffering. ~ Vicki Woodyard Being unconscious means you’re lost in thought, in the pictures and stories your mind is producing. You have entered the made-up content of your mind and are occupying it as if it were reality itself. Your ego is invested in this content as being real and important, and very likely as a result you are experiencing some kind of emotion (stirred up by the thinking). You have forgotten that all of it is the product of your mind (even if its content appears to be true or important). As a result, you are missing actual reality, what’s happening in the now — including that you are inventing the thoughts. ~ Jan Frasier Your true nature is awareness and not what your mind is producing. ~ Burt Harding
  25. There is belief in reincarnation in eastern religious philosophies of Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Jainism and Taoism. This is also an esoteric belief in some streams of Judaism, in Druid religion of the Gauls, in ancient greek philosophy as well, and some sects of sufism. Reincarnation is also an intrinsic part of some northern Native American and Inuit traditions. The research and books of well-established psychiatrists Dr.Brian Weiss, Dr. Michael Newton, Dr.Ian Stevenson citing case studies of reincarnation have given enough evidence that reincarnation is not a mere Oriental theory but may have its foundations in fact. Here are two articles dealing with past life remembrance... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1209795/Reincarnated-Our-son-World-War-II-pilot-come-life.html https://www.reincarnationresearch.com/japanese-soldier-reincarnates-as-a-woman-lesbian/
