  1. Hey guys, I've found a local teacher who teaches TM. He charges money for giving a custom mantra that you're not supposed to tell anyone and instruction for how to use it. I don't know how that mantra is special or how effective the meditation is. But I want to try it and see it because I've met a couple of his students and they say that TM has changed their life and meditation itself is very effective. Have you tried TM and if so, what were your results?
  2. Yeah, I understand that, but then the question is, why can't I use any random silly-sounding mantra? Something that I come up with. Why is it important to acquire it from a guru? That's the part I'm not getting. Sound is sound, right?
  3. The teacher I'm talking about does this for like 25 years. I guess there is only one way to find out if it's valid or not. I'll try it and see how it goes, maybe there is something real in a custom-given mantra that I don't know at this point yet.
  4. @Space Don't know for sure, but one person I've talked to seemed to be a person you've described, a spiritually gifted one because he was telling me stories from his childhood when he was feeling connected to the universe and things like that, without even any meditation. And now, as he claims, TM made him able to connect to universal consciousness and God. Don't know any other details. I was thinking about how that mantra can be effective, I mean, it's just a word right? How can some custom mantra words repeated and observed be helpful for becoming more conscious?
  5. @Leo Gura What about meditation?
  6. @Leo Gura Will you at some point share how did you do that (in your episode) ? I think you already did in some of the threads on the forum, but still... Sounds like a very important issue.
  7. @Leo Gura I've been doing his exercises for some time in the past but didn't finish it, to be honest. I didn't notice any improvements regarding my self-esteem. Do you think that self-esteem issues can go so deep that simply sentence completion exercises cant fix them? And what do you think are the actual mechanics of the way that the process of sentence completion helps building higher self-esteem?
  8. @Leo Gura I am about to try detox cleanses that he suggests. Have you tried them? What were the inaccuracies that you've found in his books? Just curious..
  9. @Leo Gura What about in less developed, stage Blue countries, where people have this idea engraved into their minds that sex until marriage is wrong. There isn't the same cultural context in every country, right?
  10. @Leo Gura How would you define a conscious relationship? What are the main characteristics of it? I mean, specifically, how does it differ from the relationships that most people have?
  11. @Leo Gura How many hours did you sleep when doing that? And didn't that affect your performance overall?
  12. @Leo Gura Sorry for the little offtopic but I wanted to know your opinion about something. Do you see Art, Programming, and other mediums like those just as tools to develop something? Do you see a value in learning for example web development just for its sake? I mean, isn't what you develop more important than the tools you use? I'm asking that because currently, I work as a web developer in a company, but from childhood (I'm 24 now), I also loved art and played with Graphics software and drew well too (I draw sometimes even today). Now I'm torn between those two domains because if I transition from a developer's position and start learning Art and Graphics, I'd struggle financially, lose a couple of years of coding experience, network of people, etc. I also like what I'm doing right now, but I also want to do much more I think a life lived in coding 8-10 hours a day is a waste... I think you make some bold career transitions in your life.
  13. @Leo Gura Do you think it's important to go to an Art school or university to learn all that? Aren't online courses, books, and seminars and those kinds of things sufficient enough?
  14. @Leo Gura What kind of detox? Is there a specific detox protocol for heavy metal toxicity?
  15. Hey guys, Yesterday I did a Holotropic Breathing session for 2 hours with a group, and the main thing that left me a bit scared was the "demonic" howling that I couldn't control and also the body movements like the ones you see in some videos where people are doing some kind of exorcism and are getting rid of demons or something. What got me a bit scared was that I was the only one experiencing this in 16 people. So, I guess it isn't as common as I thought it was. I got no visuals, even though many people described their visionary trips after the session was over. So, I don't know what to make of this experience, and how should I perceive it. I think it shows that I have many unconscious things to deal with and the sounds coming from my mouth and the strange body movements were just the expressions and a form of release, but I'm not sure about that. Have you experienced something like this?
  16. @Malekakisioannis Actually, from what I've researched and seen, it's quite common. What makes you say that it's not?
  17. @cle103 Yeah, it's pretty scary, but when you kinda accept it and just observe it, and you already have experience of having it, you know that it will pass. What got me curious was how breathing can create such an experience, or what should I expect after lots of those kinds of experiences, that's what I don't know. @Visionary Yeah, it's always like that for me as well. How long were your sessions?
  18. @Leo Gura In what way? I'm trying to see how does that "demon leaving the body" thing works. One thing to mention also is that this week I was doing a juice detox for cleansing purposes (haven't eaten anything for 6 days, just fruit and vegetable juices, was feeling very good), and after the session, I thought I was gonna be more motivated to continue it and other things as well, but I ordered junk food and ate it :)) Also didn't sleep very well. So, that is the sign that the breathing session worked successfully I guess And @Leo Gura I'm planning to do those 2-hour sessions regularly, whenever available, I guess it will shed some of those "demonic" layers and will be beneficial overall. What do you think, have you tried anything like that?
  19. @James123 yeah, I understand that. I would say I was more confused than scared, and I still am. The confusion was the factor that popped up during the session. Like, "why the hell am I doing this". And that's what I'm trying to figure out.
  20. @Leo Gura So does that mean a fundamentalist Christian can actually go in Heaven or Hell after their death? I mean, if what you say is true, and the life as we experience right now is also a dream, and consciousness can dream up whatever it wants, does it mean that those Heaven and Hell will feel as real as life right now?
  21. @StripedGiraffe Yeap, that's the way I see too, and that's why I try to read lots of books on lots of different subjects. But yeah, I can easily imagine a person reading only about his or her favorite perspective and deepening the dogma more and more. So yeah, books can become a tool of a devil, or an angel
  22. @Leo Gura Why do you think that reading books are that important? There are also ideological traps that one can fall into while reading books right? So there is also a danger in reading lots of books without contemplating the nature of ideas and ideology.
  23. @Leo Gura Isn't there a label for a person who isn't entirely introvert nor extrovert? I am kinda in the middle, more towards introversion, but I also like being social and having fun with friends and that kind of stuff. I value solitude very much. I get my batteries charged when I am alone. I guess that's the definition of an introvert. But there is also a social part in me, who likes to do all the social stuff. I guess I have to integrate the two. Are you like that too? Or are you in the far end towards introversion on the spectrum?
