  1. A lot of people get into a short term mindset for achieving fat loss where they do ridiculous calorie deficits and give up on foods that they love while eating a bland and lifeless diet. This is a less sustainable way to achieve fat loss. After a few weeks of this approach, most people have already quit. Finding lower calorie alternatives to your favorite foods which still taste close to as good, the same, or even better is easier than you might think. The foods I show in this video could easily be made with 30-40% less calories while maintaining 90%+ of the flavor, and these are already better than what most people are eating.
  2. Eat low calorie dense foods Watch drinking your calories too often as it’s super easy to over-consume this way Fat is 9 calories per gram while carbs and protein are only 4 calories per gram. This makes fatty foods the most calorie dense foods Restaurants will add ridiculous amounts of calories compared to cooking the same dish at home Low calorie alternatives such as powdered peanut butter can give essentially the same taste with a fraction of the calories
  3. I will have to try this out. I’m currently doing neck curls and neck extensions 1-2 times per week
  4. @Jannes there’s definitely a lot that can be done with body weight exercises. Some people have amazing physiques just doing calisthenics. If you can make the same gains or better with more convenience, why not though? I’m a big fan of body weight exercises, but I prefer to add weight to them if possible with a belt like you mentioned and have seen better results that way.
  5. @Someone here thanks man ?
  6. Best of luck man. I hope you’re able to quit once and for all.
  7. Gym wins hands down. People who have amazing physiques doing calisthenics only are an exception not the rule. There’s a reason why pro bodybuilders use weights far more than body weight exercises. It’s simply a more effective way to build muscle. One of the most important things for building muscle is training close to or at muscular failure on a consistent basis. It is not as practical to follow common sense progressive overload (lifting more weight or doing more reps than the previous workout in a nutshell) protocols doing only body weight exercises, especially long term. At the beginning, it’s probably fine, but you will get to a point where your muscles are too strong to be sufficiently taxed by doing body weight exercises unless you are doing tons of reps which is tedious and takes more time than necessary.
  8. It looks like the post did what I intended it to ? I’m down to have a dharma talk with you sometime for sure. Just send me a PM and we can set it up.
  9. I hope you realize that going to the gym and eating a diet to achieve lower body fat percentage is nearly infinitely easier and more rewarding than succeeding at changing the nature of reality in the way you want while holding this weak escapism mentality. I will design a workout program for you and give diet tips for completely free if that what it takes for you to take charge of your life again. I included these pictures so you can see how big of a difference a change in body fat can make on your looks.
  10. Maybe feeling guilty for not giving it your all is a good thing.
  11. I second this. Although “because I like it/because I want to” is a completely valid reason. “Work on awakening until normal life becomes more desirable than further awakenings” would be my personal recommendation.
  12. I have some Theravadin masters who I can recommend. If interested, send me a PM. One of them is actually a licensed therapist as well.
  13. People who do not have satisfying diets don’t diet very long. They go back to eating shit 24/7. Create a diet based on healthy options and have some treats for yourself to maintain sanity. This is the approach that will give the most practical results for people.
  14. @trenton well if your body fat is in that range, it’s probably not the issue. I just added that in on the off chance that you were overweight. I forgot to mention that I was getting about 90,000-100,000+ steps per week (according to Fitbit tracking) before I started working out. My job is on my feet 100% of the time except for my one hour lunch break. I was very tired and worn out doing this before I started working out and also experiencing some pain in my feet and behind my knees which has mostly gone away after lifting for a while. If I were you, I would focus on strength/hypertrophy training in an adequately equipped gym. I have spent years as an athlete in cardio-focused sports like cross country, track, and cycling. None of those helped with my energy levels or motivation much. If anything, it diminished energy and motivation. Calisthenics is okay probably but will likely give less results than weightlifting due to there being more difficulty in creating a sustainable progressive overload approach.
  15. Working out and fixing my diet has substantially increased my energy levels over the past few months since I started. 6 months ago or so I said to a friend that I probably spent 80% of my life horizontal. Now I work 11-12 hour days, go to the gym for 1.5-2 hours after work, and I generally have energy to be up for a few hours after the gym. Energy is in abundance for the most part. It’s a night and day difference for me. I also was lazy and unmotivated when it came to materialistic/traditional life goals. That has also changed entirely for me. You can get the energy benefits of working out by doing 3 solid sessions per week for an hour each. That’s what I did for the first 2-3 months. I have a bit more energy now working out 5 days per week, but 80-90% of the energy can be gained doing just 3 days per week. This process has also greatly helped my circadian rhythm as well. I wake up in the mornings far, far easier than before. I think that having your macronutrients and micronutrients in a good place is far more important than thinking about individual foods. Having a balanced diet with about 40% of calories from carbs, about 25-40% from protein, and the remainder from fat has made me feel quite amazing compared to before. For micronutrients, taking a decent multivitamin isn’t a bad idea, but I think focusing on nutrient dense whole foods is probably more important. A few servings of fruits, a few servings of vegetables, and lean meat should help you do quite well overall. You can fit tasty snacks in moderation every day if you want. I, as well as many others who maintain 10% or less body fat levels, recommend this snacking approach as it makes sticking to a “diet” far easier. Another thing to consider is that having excess body fat may be reducing your energy levels. Most people find more energy around 15% body fat (for men) or sometimes even less. 15% body fat would be around the point the outline of a six pack appears. I have my highest energy levels being leaner than that, but some people say it’s hard to sleep and that they have too many food cravings around 10% BF. It depends on your individual circumstance though.
  16. The problem with your logic is that you mention two individuals who are beloved by hundreds of millions or billions of people over two millennia after their deaths but you look to people who will be almost completely forgotten within 50 years after their deaths. The Buddha is known today because he found a method to true satisfaction which can be replicated which is what essentially every human being wants. He provided immense value to the world. He did far more with his lifetime than all of the people you mentioned combined. It’s also worthwhile to note that the Buddha started life with all of the things your current mindset is seeking and realized that they did not mean much. I do agree with your perspective though when it comes to material success and social standing. After having developed a degree of proficiency with the Buddha’s method, I can now choose when to be dissatisfied to give myself fuel to pursue normal life goals and also when to give myself immeasurable satisfaction within moments to minutes in almost any situation. You only seek material success because you see that as being more satisfactory than having no material success. This is wise to an extent. An enlightened life with the option of influence and freedom in the materialistic system in which we live is better than an impoverished enlightened life.
  17. Go watch the movie Into the Wild. That is serious advice for this situation. In general, the probability that you’ll actually be happier separated from society is quite low. You don’t want to participate in capitalism but likely are already participating in capitalism to some extent in nearly every action you take. The problem is that many of these actions give money to people with likely less integrity, depth, and compassion than you possess (assuming that you’ve been doing the work promoted by Leo since you’re on this forum in the first place). Rather than creating value through a higher conscious business, you do pretty much nothing to impact society by postponing starting a business out of what I personally would interpret as a mostly false sense of virtue. Creating a business that solves real-world problems and creates value for many others while doing so from the vantage point of a higher conscious position is of incredible importance for our modern era.
  18. This is a waste of your time most likely. As far as being concerned goes, let’s just assume that the worst information about reptilians is true. In that case, what the hell are you going to be able to do about it? Nothing productive at all most likely. Imagine a chimpanzee is asking his friends if he should be concerned about humans which he has never actually seen before and only exist as a rumor in his society. Even if the answer is yes in the sense that humans are more powerful and can harm him, what is he going to do differently? Resist the humans and just get punished, sedated, or killed? The wisest course of action for a chimpanzee who is concerned about humans would be to act as normal as possible to not increase his chances of having to deal with humans in the first place and simply know to avoid them at all costs. If the chimpanzee is curious about humans and goes looking for them or to know if they really exist or not, it will likely only end negatively for him. The good news is that you’ll likely never see or deal with a reptilian in this reality as it’s probably BS.
  19. None of this sounds like psychosis at all. This is coming from someone who has been clinically diagnosed with psychosis and seen others in psychotic states.
  20. Awakening is just a temporary human concept. There is stuff which cannot even be called awakening which is far more daunting. To speak of that stuff as a human literally does not compute. Maybe the best word for it would be something like annihilation.
  21. I would agree with what many have said here that what you’re referring to is more in line with psychic abilities rather than pure mysticism. Most serious mystics regard the psychic abilities as distractions and lower forms of attainment, but they certainly do arise from going down the mystical path.
  22. Walking for hours without a doer at the level of base sensations appearing in fresh new configurations completely on their own. When every tiny sensate particle is impermanent faster than you can even notice the change, there is no self. There is no control. Life itself is living itself out, and things actually go better this way, conventionally speaking.
  23. Can a mod give this user a warning for misinformation please? ? 2,100 calories per day is not that low. As long as you’re not getting too much of your calories from fat, you shouldn’t be too hungry. Eating food high in fat is bad for trying to lose weight as fat is more calorie dense than protein and carbs. Fat is 9 calories per gram whereas carbs and protein are 4 calories per gram. This means you can eat over twice the amount of food made of carbs or protein and feel fuller while still consuming less calories than something which is made of fat. Eating less without quantifying how much you are eating is laughable. If you want anywhere close to the best results, counting calories and protein is a minimum requirement at least until you actually have a solid idea of how much you’re consuming and have the ability to eye ball somewhat accurately. If you want to half ass things, you can just exercise and try to “eat less” and get some results, but this is going to waste time and effort. It is far better to spend an extra 10 minutes of your day tracking your nutrition (which actually leads to healthier eating habits on its own) than it is to wait months longer for the same results. A very simple calculation of maintenance calories is BW in lb. X 15 = your calories needed to maintain your weight. This is based on being fairly active. With your activity level, you might have a bit higher maintenance calories than this calculation will produce. You’d be at 2,475 calories based on this calculation. I work out 3x per week and work about 35 hours per week while being on my feet the entire time I’m clocked in at work. I calculated my actual maintenance calories based on my weight loss progress and the amount of calories consumed which were tracked meticulously for that period, and the simple calculation I gave above was within 50-100 calories of my true maintenance needs. A 400 calorie deficit is ideal in most cases. A more aggressive deficit than that will result in more muscle mass loss and often leads to people giving up on losing weight as they are simply too hungry to want to stick with their new diet. This is not good as building muscle takes far more time and effort than losing fat. Make sure to get at least .8-1g of protein per lb. of body weight if you’re trying to lose weight and retain as much muscle as possible. Your calisthenics training should be applying progressive overload (more reps each week put simply) in order to keep the muscle you have or gain a small amount of muscle while in a caloric deficit. With apps like MyFitnessPal out nowadays, there’s really no excuse to not count calories if you want to transform your physique. It’s pretty damn convenient.
  24. After death, mental masturbation on things which have yet to be accessed stops. I hope so at least.
  25. This was the day in which I first felt a palpable sense akin to the 10th Ox herding picture’s imagery. Having reached cessation a number of times and being ridiculously higher in baseline consciousness, I was re-entering the public world while consumed by the Nibbanic bliss the Buddha spoke about, or at least the memory of the cessation “moment”. It is ultimately the most distinct memory of nothing anyone can never have. Taken to full introspection, the state or rather non-state of cessation can unravel experience into whole new directions I highly doubt any other path would produce out of common spiritual practices which are not entirely individual processes.
