  1. @blackchair Constantly feeling like one's misunderstood by everyone around you is the worst. Having a mental cap at stage red/blue would be fun, I suppose. "Live by the sword, die by the sword".
  2. @Spiritual Warfare What I'm saying is that you'll gain nothing from being angry these people because of their faith. It's very unhealthy to be this obsessed with other peoples way of life. Why put so much effort into it when it won't change anything? I think people should get to preach what they believe in. I do believe in a free society after all, where people are free to speak their mind, even if I don't agree with what's being said.
  3. Wouldn't be inconsiderate to just discard what makes other people happy? Not everyone is at the same developmental level. If the Christian faith makes them a happy and fulfilled human being then that's a good thing, don't you think? I see nothing inherently wrong with this, even if I'm not religious myself. If it gives them a sense of purpose in life, I think that's great.
  4. @Spiritual Warfare Why do you bother to harbor such resentment towards a group of people based on their faith? What is it that triggers you so much about Christians in particular? Could there be any repressed aspects of yourself that you're afraid of exploring more thoroughly that's causing this reaction?
  5. It's entirely possible to do both. The moment we stop criticizing we stop improving.
  6. @ici Firstly, BlackRock doesn't control the market. They're a minority shareholder in more than 5000 different companies. They have no control over the management, policies or operations of the companies they're invested in. BlackRock is an asset manager. Their job is to invest on behalf of their clients. They don't actually own tens of trillions of dollars as far-right online conspiracy theorists may want you to believe. They strategically invest their client's assets across various markets in order to turn a profit. This is what an asset manager does. If you google "blackrock market cap" you'll see how much the company is actually worth. You can fit 25x BlackRock into the world's most valuable company, Apple.
  7. Yes, there is a way. You could fry your electronics and go live by yourself off-grid. Then you get to live happily ever after in your little cave, free from the evil globalist agenda that's supposedly making your life so miserable. What you'll quickly come to realize is that you were full of shit this whole time, and that no one is out to get you or your loved ones. You're lucky enough to be living in the most prosperous time in human history, yet still you delude yourself into thinking that the system is somehow against you. Let me be brutally honest with you for just one moment here. No one owes you anything, least of all the system you're a part of. If you want to be successful in life you owe it to yourself to get out of the dark place you're currently finding yourself in. Go make something that's of value to people and you too will be successful. No one is out to get you.

  9. Yeah, I was left with the same impression. If you have to try to guess how the author intends for their questions to be interpreted, that's not something you can draw meaningful conclusions from.
  10. @ici Take a look at this. These are your people. It actually pains me to think about how many people completely lost their ability to think because of one man.
  11. Whether or not there is a larger thing at play, or just blind idol worshipping of Trump as the next messiah I don't know. I would like to think things will somewhat return to the norm once Trump is gone. I think it will take the republican party a long time to heal from Trump, which will cause a large power vacuum in US politics, which I too think is very dangerous for democracy.
  12. I want to know that I did my part in helping assure Trump didn't assume power in 2024. If he became president despite that, then at least I can sleep well knowing I put in some good effort. Whether that is discussing Trump with people online, convincing others to do the same, or actively pushing content throughout social media through technical know-how, AI and automation.
  13. I would demonize anyone that seeks to overthrow democracy, unless they've proved themselves extraordinarily capable to hold such a position, which is almost unheard of throughout history. I certainly would hope and expect the vast majority of citizens in developed nations to be pro-democracy as well. As for calling Trump names, what would be the point in that? And what would you even call him. There are to my knowledge no words in the English language that would do such a name calling justice. This is an individual that's committed the highest level of treason possible. The reason people are calling him Hitler is that we've ran out of words that appropriately describe him as a person, or people to compare him to. Calling him a Quisling would be more accurate, but most people have no idea who that is.
  14. @What Am I What's the difference between being anti-establishment and being an anarchist? The fact that there are people out there that don't understand basic human nature is wild to me. There always has been, and always will be a small number of people that climb to the highest levels of power. If someone is anti-establishment what they're really saying is that they're anti human. I guess people are free to be anti what humanity has been about for the last 200 000+ years, but they're going to get nothing but ridicule from me.
  15. I genuinely don't know if you're trying to make a joke or if you're being serious. Trump doesn't have any values or principles. His moral alignment is to accumulate influence and power for himself. He'd throw his family and everyone close to him under the bus if that meant he'd get his way. Without a second thought.
  16. I don't really see the need of a life coach. Surely there's no one better than oneself to determine what makes one tick.
  17. The supposed "facts over feelings" gang, doing everything they can to change subject or attack the person whenever true factual statements are being brought up. Like for example, if you try to ask a Trump supporter what they think of January 6th. 99% of them will either disagree on the facts of what happened that day, or they will excuse Trump saying he didn't make them do what they did. If you keep going, they will usually get pretty mad at you, spin their own made-up version of what happened or change the subject. I think a small portion of his supporters actually know what he did, and know the facts, and support him anyway, because they are far-right fascists that want a dictatorship. The rest live in willful ignorance of what he's done, and will quickly lose it emotionally if you bring it up. Whether Trump wins or not, I think will be up to what portion of the American people is completely lost to the MAGA echo chamber. If not, then there should be a near zero percent chance that someone would vote for him, after all he's done. I'm optimistic that Trump is going to say enough stupid shit to completely swing this election in Kamala's favor.
  18. I wouldn't worry about AI replacing developers any time soon. The need for knowledge workers is only going up, and we have no way of automating this beyond overly simple projects. We have nothing to indicate that that's even possible. It first needs to automate everything else. Arguably the only constraint there is energy production. We have to vastly enhance energy production if we are to take this technology to the next level.
  19. What are you most fearful of, or what bothers you the most about America today? It seems to me that quite often, sympathy and support for Trump stems from an irrational fear that you believe he'd somehow solve if he became president. Trump knows this, and it's why he keeps saying he'll do all these great things if elected, while never elaborating on how he'd do it.
  20. @questionreality A Trump supporter trying to claim moral high ground is quite funny to me. "On the one hand you bring up how Hitler killed 6 million jews in the gas chambers, but on the other hand you're fine with assassination of political opponents." Yeah... of course I am fine with that. What is your point?
  21. Lost jobs seems to me a non-issue when you realize the potential upsides in productive output. In a world where humans are no longer needed for most kinds of labor, you simply won't have to get up in the morning if you don't want to. You can pursue whatever you want, whenever you want. AI seems to me to be the natural next step in our evolution, and it also seems the only way to solve world hunger, large-scale wars and climate change. Every physical need being taken care of however, is going to be a very radical change for most people, and a large portion of people are going to need to learn to find meaning within themselves. I see depression rates skyrocketing as a result, but also an increased level of life satisfaction for the average person. We already have the technology to automate the overwhelming majority of jobs out there, the cost-effectiveness just isn't there yet for businesses to be willing to implement this technology on a wide scale. I think it's unfortunate that so many people are afraid of this technology.
  22. @shenanigans +1 for that. Obsidian is one of my favorite pieces of software. It being free and open-source is the cherry on top. Definitely worth checking out.
  23. Absolutely. He managed to grant himself full immunity for his actions on January 6th, ensuring he cannot be convicted for essentially trying to steal the country. It's not like he didn't put himself in this predicament of his own free will. No wonder people are trying to kill him. I actually think that is a sign of a healthy democracy that people don't just bend over for a tyrant that tried to overthrow their country. The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. In the super long-term however, trying to maximize chaos is probably the healthiest option for developing robust systems of governance for the future.
  24. You could utilize AI models to turn your hand-written notes into digital form to also have them stored digitally, not having to worry about one day losing your work. Shouldn't take too much effort to set up.
