I read him as being self serving above all else. If the pressure was put on him in the opposite direction I don’t think he’d be sacrificing himself for some ideological goal.

A lot of them were protesting for a ceasefire a while back, but it seems the government was able to distract them by attacking Lebanon. I also believe most are against annexation of the West Bank. The issue is the extremists threaten to leave the government if Netanyahu doesn’t do what they want and if they leave they will collapse the government and it’ll have an election which could lead to Netanyahu losing and being going on trial for corruption, so they essentially control him.
