@Jacob Morres I’m sure if we did the same thing with a bunch of conservative college kids, they’d just act cordial and supremely educated the whole time.

Assuming it legitimately was telekinesis, the answer would be the same reason for anything: reality is One and you are God. I’ve not consciously developed such abilities so I couldn’t tell you how to do it. There do seem to be teachers on YT though who can help you if you dig deep enough (Sean McNamara, Trebor Seven etc).

@Rasheed You can find Green and even some Yellow at top universities. My perspective is that Green is currently the leading edge of consciousness for the majority of the planet. Most people are Orange, Blue or even lower than that. So to expect anything higher than Green/Yellow at top universities would be an error. That level of consciousness is already extremely radical for many people. Of course if you’re already sitting at Green or above, than you’re likely to be unimpressed. Green perpetually seems to mistake its level of consciousness as a given. So people at top universities are serious philosophers, compared to the majority of the planet. They may just not be be serious compared to the extremely small proportion of Tier 2 thinkers.

@UpperMaster Yes and no. It definitely could be motivating. And there's nothing wrong with competition per say. Until it becomes a problem. One issue is how do you properly decide who is the "best" in a field? Especially if your field is more subjective, like art. Even in sports, which has statistics to back up claims, people can still barely decide. So you may end up chasing a never-ending phantom. The other issue is that too much obsession with your career or life purpose can potentially distract from deeper consciousness work and / or relationships and other areas of life. So you really have to be clear about what you want out of life. I'm personally not interested in a being a David Goggins type of person. Seems like he has a lot of internal war he is still working through.

Watch his 6+ hour series on this topic. This question will easily be answered.

Why is that so important? I get it that it’s good sex and it feels good. But if you’re sore and it no longer feels good to keep going, kinda defeats the purpose, no? You already said it. Just take some more breaks. Restart when it feels good to restart.

Basically this. If radical Green feminism is your biggest problem, you’re doing pretty well overall. Which is not to say it shouldn’t be addressed. But let’s put it in its proper context.
-
It’s edgy but still in range for going mainstream. Society is not just conservative Blues. We have a lot of Orange and Green too. Orange is unlikely to care about this because Orange has mostly shed the moral system coming from Blue. And Green loves anything that trolls the Blue. Overall we are in fact evolving out of Blue. Blue doesn’t like this and is continuing to push back, but things move forward regardless, one music video at a time.

This is good advice. If you have this sort of lack mindset, it can really turn people off and come across as creepy. But I want to add some nuance for anyone reading this as well. I’ve found that my dating life is always the best when it’s a top priority in my life. And when it’s not a top priority, it starts to slack. This just makes obvious sense. Having an abundant dating life requires a lot of time, energy and commitment to that area of your life. Which requires you to make it a priority. In reality, if I truly have something better to be doing, I just end up doing that thing instead. If you truly have something better to be doing than dating, than you won’t be spending much time dating. You’ll be doing those other things. Either choice is fine and just really depends on what you want. There can be crossover of course. Working on your career might give you the money to be successful in dating later. But still, at some point you have to make dating a priority if you want success in that area. Otherwise, you’ll just be a rich guy who works all the time. And I can guarantee that a guy who is partying all the time trying to meet girls will have a better dating life than that guy.

@Tudo I would already consider it dated. There are some valuable critiques he makes of capitalism, but it be an error to get perpetually stuck on Marxism for the vast majority of people.

@GrandeOrso It's a cool LP if you're really into traveling and the nomad lifestyle. I do feel like the travel blog thing has been done to death though. Unless this is just a fun hobby, I'd be looking at much different mediums than a blog.

People can flake for all sorts of reasons that have nothing to do with you. In general though, people rarely flake when the perceived value of an offer is high enough. So continue to add more value into the situation. This is part of my qualm with people who get dogmatically focused on “you are enough” and “dating is just about being yourself”. These are non-nuanced, simplistic truths about social dynamics. It’s possible that the perceived value of what you are offering is just too low. In that case, people will flake quite a bit. So instead of asking how to reduce flaking, instead ask “how do I make what I’m offering irresistible to those who will also value it?” That second part is key because value is always, always relative. And so one person could see what you’re offering and think “wow this is so amazing, I will drop everything for this!” , while someone else will say “meh”. And they both will be right FOR THEM. So an actual irresistible offer is impossible. There is no such thing that could exist to all people. Flaking still will occur. But it’s still a good head space to be in, provided you balance that with healthy inner beliefs about yourself and don’t fall into perfectionism.

Never heard that story. That is remarkable.

I’ve been contemplating double standards a lot recently, partially because of Leo’s recent video and partially because of things going on in my own life. I’ve seen how my own mind can be very quick to want to distort truth when it truly feels threatened. Like really, really threatened. And its made me wonder if it’s even possible for this not to occur. For instance, how long would your principles against double standard last if you were legitimately looking at life in prison for something you did? Or it meant a loved one would die? Would you really still be “principled”, or would you be doing and saying whatever you possibly can to alter the outcome? Including lying, manipulating, etc. Really try to imagine it. The fear is so strong and the outcome so terrible that it almost seems impossible. Keep in mind, in this hypothetical situation, you will not be rewarded for your honesty or integrity in anyway. The exact opposite in fact. What then? Are we simply always going to have some level of fear / bias? Based on my experience, the answer seems to be yes. We will always have some bias and hypocrisy for our own agenda, although we can improve. But perhaps this is a limitation of my current level of consciousness / development relative to this issue.
-
I generally think you are correct. My point was not to say that honesty is never rewarded and that lying is. This was just a fictional thought experiment where that was guaranteed not to happened. So in your case, imagine you had a signed contract from “the universe” saying that if you told the truth about driving under the influence, you are 100% going to jail / prison for the max penalty. And if you lie, you will 100% get away with it. No legal repercussions . Do you still tell the truth? Obviously this is a hypothetical example and life doesn’t really work like this. We never have perfect information. And integrity / telling the truth is a nuanced thing. Occasionally telling a lie might be considered more conscious / loving. But I still find this an interesting exercise in self-awareness. The point is, where is your “line” where your integrity breaks? And is it possible to develop yourself to where you don’t have a “line”? If prison doesn’t scare you, then maybe it’s something else.

That feels right to me, in the sense we must be finite/selfish to be human and shouldn’t expect perfection. Perhaps it is possible to develop yourself to the point where you are no longer hypocritical, but still have a selfish agenda you are acting out consciously. That distinction would be an interesting nuance to explore. For example, eating another living organism for survival, while simultaneously understanding that if I was on the other side of the fork I’d be fighting like hell. And truly embrace that paradox. I have not heard that story but I’d be interested to. And others like it to see what might be possible. Mega-thread for examples of double standards and no mega-thread for examples of exemplary human unbias. The ultimate double standard

Value is always relative. What do you find valuable in a partner? This is kind of a short list. The more you flesh out what this high value partner looks like, the more obvious it will be where to go. Get clearer on what you want.

For anyone interested in reading about some of the collective problems that may occur from DALL-E, I really recommend reading the second half of their GitHub: https://github.com/openai/dalle-2-preview/blob/main/system-card.md I'm fascinated by what AI could do for art, but we also need to be conscious of how it could further degrade the epistemic commons. Good to see some of these companies addressing these concerns.

@Devin There is a lot of people on the political left who do not believe a 100% transition to renewable energy is possible. The main argument seems to be that what we really are doing as a society is just adding more energy, not really swapping fossil fuels for renewables. You still need fossil fuels for electric vehicles, wind turbines, solar panels etc. And renewables have a lot of issues that won't be solved for that make the swap impossible, like intermittency. I personally feel renewables seem to still be humanity's best option, albeit an imperfect one. Fossil fuels cannot last forever, so inevitably you do have to find some other energy source.

Start talking to girls. You need massive social experience to make up for lost time. There are no tips or resources that will help you if you do not do this.

I would love to see the Venn diagram of Trump supporters and Tate fans.

aurum replied to Carl-Richard's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Carl-Richard Feels like there should be a “both” option for question two? I have done psychedelics and have had both at least one sober and one psychedelic awakening. So really that be my answer. In terms of timeline, I dabbled in MDMA, Salvia and Sass before I ever discovered meditation and nonduality. Those substances gave me unique experiences but I was kind of just partying like a idiot back then. So it’s hard to say how much spiritual growth came from it. -
@Majed YT business gurus are not going to get you very far. You need to pick a business and get SPECIFIC, tailored advice to the business you’re looking to start from someone in your industry. Which likely means paying someone for direct coaching or attending some sort of training/mastermind/seminar.

aurum replied to justfortoday's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@justfortoday These are accurate to me but there’s also a lot more in my experience. We’d need a much larger list if we were really going to try and be comprehensive. -
@thepixelmonk Yes I made a comment about this not that long ago. Basically there’s no magic solution except to just become a real member of your local spiritual community. Depending on where you live, the details will be different. But just attend all sorts of different events. Quick run down of things to look out for: 1) Yoga events 2) Sound Baths 3) Meditation groups 4) Contact improv 5) Ecstatic dance 6) Transformational Festivals 7) Breathwork experiences 8) Reiki circles 9) Book clubs 10) Plant medicine ceremonies Even better if you can start helping out leading these events or even hosting your own. Keep in mind the people at these events will be mostly around stage GREEN. Don’t expect some sort of enlightened meetup where everyone is tier 2 or higher.
