  1. Pt.3
  2. Sadhguru dropping knowledge bombs like it ain't nothing,lol. ? ?
  3. If you stop breathing,do "you" conscious(ness), still exist? Breath is vital for the body and necessary while "you" conscious(ness),inhabit it,but "you" conscious(ness) are not dependent upon the body for existence. With or without body, "you" conscious(ness) still are. Have you ever experienced the breathless state in meditation?
  4. That which transcends the physical.
  5. That, which is beyond the breath. It's just on loan, It's not yours to keep.
  6. It's a good practice but you don't need to spend money. The practice is just repeating a mantra (distinct sound) in the mind, without trying to control anything. Like,if the mind wanders off of the mantra into other thoughts,it's ok,you just come back to the mantra when you realize you're off it. You don't make any effort to hold on to it, or resist the mind from wandering,, don't control the way the sound is heard (hi pitch, low pitch, soft, loud etc.,), just make sure the pronunciation is correct. Don't control it's speed,or where it's located. The book Deep Meditation by Yogani is a good example of TM, and cheap, not 590€. He was a TM practitioner as well, and the book is basically how to do TM meditation without the cost of paying for the name.
  7. Yeah. Any motivation to seek Truth,God,Realization etc.,can be used. It is often because of suffering that one seeks. No one wants to suffer. It's the reason one seeks happiness in objects, relationships, status, accomplishments etc., We want a sustained joy and peace, not a joy or peace that is temporary which is often the case.
  8. For anyone beginning, or even experienced, with self inquiry it is essential to get what the practice is aiming to do to avoid any confusion that will almost inevitably arise. This explanation from Sadhu Om, one of Ramana's foremost disciples, is well known to be among the few to have gotten the real essence of the "who am I" practice. So take some time to read this and get a good primer on what the practice aims to do. "The feeling ‘I am’ is the experience common to one and all. In this, ‘am’ is consciousness/awareness or knowledge. This knowledge is not of anything external; it is the knowledge of oneself, This is chit. This consciousness/awareness is ‘we’, “We are verily consciousness”, says Sri Bhagavan [Ramana Maharshi]. Thus in ‘I am’, ‘I’ is existence or "being" (sat) and ‘am’ is consciousness/awareness (chit). The feeling "I am this and thus’ which has now arisen mixed with the pure, thoughtless consciousness/awareness ‘I am’ (sat-chit), is what is called ‘thought’, This is the first thought." "The feeling ‘I am a man, I am so-and-so’ (this and thus), is only a thought. But the thoughtless consciousness/awareness ‘I am’ is not a thought; it is the very nature of our ‘being’. The mixed consciousness ‘I am this or that’ is a thought that rises from our ‘being (thoughtless pure awareness)’. It is only after the rising of this thought (i.e., this and that, so-and-so etc.), the mixed consciousness (the first person), that all other thoughts, which are the knowledge of second (i.e.,you,he/she,it) , and third persons (i.e., them, they), rise into existence. The pure existence-consciousness, ‘I am’, is not a thought; this consciousness/awareness is our nature (swarupam). ‘I am a man’ is not our pure consciousness; it is only our thought! To understand thus the difference between our ‘being’ (i.e., thoughtless, silent, awareness) and our ‘rising’ (that is, between existence/being and thought) , is essential for aspirants who take to the enquiry ‘Who am I?’. "The ego, the feeling of ‘I’, generally taken by people to be the first person consciousness, is not the real first person consciousness; Self alone is the real first person consciousness. The ego feeling, which is merely a shadow of it, is a false first person consciousness. When one enquires into this ego, what it is or who it is, it disappears because it is really nonexistent, and the enquirer, having nothing more to do, is established in Self as Self. The correct meaning of the term ‘Self-enquiry’ (atma-vichara) is here rightly explained to be ‘turning Selfwards’ (or attending to Self)." "In either of these two kinds of enquiry (‘Who am I’?’ or ‘Whence' am I' meaning "From what" am I?’), since the attention of the aspirant is focused only on himself, nothing other than Self (atman), which is the true import of the word ‘I’, will be finally experienced. Therefore, the ultimate result of both the enquiries, ‘Whence (From What) am I ?’ and ‘Who am I ?’, is the same ! How? He who seeks ‘Whence (From What) am I ?’ is following the ego, the form of which is ‘I am so-and-so (ex.I am Jon Doe,a student from Nevada etc.) ’, and while doing so, the adjunct ‘so-and-so (Name/Identity), having no real existence, dies on the way, and thus he remains established in Self, the surviving ‘I am’." "Whether done in the form ‘From What am I?’ or ‘Who am I ?’, what is absolutely essential is that Self-attention should be pursued till the very end. Moreover, it is not necessary for sincere aspirants even to name before-hand the feeling ‘I’ either as ego or as Self, For, are there two persons in the aspirant, the ego and Self? This is said because, since everyone of us has the experience ‘I am one only and not two’. we should not give room to an imaginary dual feeling – one ‘I’ seeking for another ‘I’ – by differentiating ego and Self as ‘lower self’ and higher-self’." "It is sufficient if we cling to the feeling ‘I’ uninterruptedly. Such attention to the feeling ‘I’, the common daily experience of everyone, is what is meant by Self-attention, For those who accept as their basic knowledge the ‘I am the body’ – consciousness (jiva bhava), being unable to doubt its (the ego’s) existence, it is suitable to take to Self-attention (that is, to do Self-enquiry) in the form ‘Whence or From What am I ?’, " On the other hand, for those who instead of assuming that they have an individuality (jiva bhava) such as ‘I am so-and-so’ or ‘I am this’, attend thus, ‘What is this feeling which shines as 'I' ?’, it is suitable to be fixed in Self-attention in the form ‘Who am I ?’ What is important to be sure of during practice (sadhana) is that our attention is turned only towards ‘I’, the first person singular feeling."
  9. Not conscious. It is you, that gives a thought it's meaning and reality. Not just thoughts, everything. So the question should be, What are you, and where do you come from?
  10. If there is no one, there is no tree,no forest,no sound.
  11. Existence/Reality is neither subjective nor objective. Only one existence.Only one reality.
  12. Focusing on awareness is trying to focus on some abstract thing called awareness. This is not the intention of self inquiry. The inquiry is to attend to the experience of Being Aware. Not trying to be some abstract thing called awareness.
  13. Who am I,is to lead you to the direct experience of being aware. Attend to the experience of simply being aware. Hard focus is not necessary, Attend and be with the experience of being aware. If thought takes your attention away from the experience of being aware, notice it,and bring the attention back to being aware,
  14. First, one has to see that their idea of how things should or shouldn't be is a personal bias, and has no relevance in "seeing things as they are". Fortune and misfortune appear on every level of existence, not just to human beings. As far as theories go,karma appears to be the more acceptable one. Depending on ones actions in this and previous lives, ones allotted karmic debt decides the kind of life that will have to be lived in order to rectify that debt. If past virtuous actions outweigh the selfish non virtuous actions, one will have a better quality of life than say, one who's actions were oppositional, antithetical or counter to the universal laws of harmony, agreement, inclusiveness and correspondence. Instead of pointing the finger at "god",one may want to consider that existence is the way it is because it cannot be any other way. If it could be ,it would be. The way It is,is the way it is, and any resistance or non acceptance of that, is a definite set up for unneeded suffering. In the absolute sense there is no one suffering misfortune, but until this is experientially realized, the suffering and misfortune are real to those experiencing it. In consideration of that is where our ability to respond with compassion is needed. Being angry at "god" doesn't resolve anything nor is it helpful in any way.
  15. “ Before this body was born, I was nothing. When this body was born, I was nothing. When I had the body of a child, I was nothing. When the body became an adult body, I was nothing. Now, with an old body, I still am nothing. After I drop this body, I will still be nothing. If I am already nothing, how can I lose something? How can nothing be hurt? Who can steal from nothing? Who can touch nothing? "Be what you already are. Don’t be afraid to be nothing. To be the whole, you have to become nothing.”" ""Only nothing can comprehend no-thingness.”
  16. So,you want Leo to entertain you. To get that dopamine fix needed so badly,eh?
  17. If something is said to exist, then it must exist at all times and never be not-existent. If it is said to exist at one time, but then said to not exist at another, then it does not truly exist and /or have true existence. This is why the "waking" world is said to be a dream and/or illusory. The same for the "dream" world before deep sleep. In the waking state, the dream world of sleep does not exist, and in the dream world of sleep, the waking world does not exist. In deep sleep, neither the waking world, nor the dream world exist. We also don't experience having a body or thought- active mind. So it can be said, that the body and mind are non existent also,as we don't experience them in deep sleep. We don't experience "ourselves" as a person,a human being,a gender,a race or nationality,a certain age or, as anything we conceptualize our selves to be. Yet,what is true or existent, is that which exists at all times and throughout wake, dream, and deep sleep. And can never be found to be non-existent.
  18. The essence of Mindfulness is the question "what am I doing right now?". Throughout the day, remember the question "what am I doing right now?" It will bring you back to the present, now. The question, and the answers to it,both are in the continuous present tense. In this manner, you capture the essence of any moment as it's passing. If you want to use this as a meditation, instead of asking "what am I doing right now?" ask "which thought is on my mind right now?". As soon as you ask this question, you will experience a subtle thoughtless state for a few moments. After a while the mind will wander off. Repeat the question and you will come back to the present moment. Gradually, the duration of thoughtlessness will increase and you will become increasingly joyous and composed. With continued practice,Being in the moment will become more pronounced, stress free, and joyful. The always and present now is the only, the only, "gateless gate" to the Absolute.
  19. "All Avatars, Muktas, Gods, Buddhas, Saints, Arhats etc.,can never equal this Holy Moment of Awareness Now!" "If it is not Here, it is nowhere. If it is not N0w, it is never" TushnimevAsanam SnAnam. –"Abidance in inner silence alone is the holy bath." "All project a world of their own. Humans, animals, insects, a "super intelligent alien" etc. The common place is Reality"
  20. This translates as "but when I try to catch, what the awareness itself is". Be aware of when you are trying to catch, what can't be caught. In trying to catch what can't be caught, what is already there is missed. Inquire:"Am I the awareness I am trying to catch?"
  21. Ask yourself: Where & When do I experience I? "You" are always in the non located,"place-less place", Here, and the time-less, eternal, Now. Here &Now is neither in space or time.
  22. Being nameless,it is all names and none of them. Name is non essential. Giving more importance of the name over "That" itself is seriously missing the mark. The name or word is man's invention, and never That itself.
