How to deal with emotional triggers ? In the episode "True growth vs Fake groth" Leo says that a sign of true growth is to look at the emotional reactions in any specific area of life. So, how is that managed ?

In Leo's channel he has videos about Self-Acceptance Practice and Self-Inquiry Practice, but I would like to understand more about the many other practices of Inner Work, since they are the heart of personal development. How to do Contemplation How to do Introspection How to do Shadow Work How to work with Beliefs The wrong ways and misconceptions of practicing Inner Work

Personal growth, Resolve neurosis, Develop Self-esteem (Nathaniel branden's self-esteem) Become more authentic, develop masculinity, understand the mind. Not enlightenment, although I'm OK with enlightenment practices to achieve these goals I just listed, but enlightenment is no my main concern.

These days I got an insight on what contemplation is all about. It's about sitting down and trying to understand experientially an idea.

Is the ego the lower-self ? or the lower-self is the ego when it's threatened ? The way the ego is described is as "Who you think you are, your personal identity", so, it means that the ego is the self-image right ? But the way the ego is usually refereed to usually looks like it's an entity living inside the "I", inside me, like it is all the petty low consciousness stuff on me, exactly like the lower-self. So, is the higher-self part of the ego ?

What is the single most important factor that generates Self-Esteem ?

What do you mean exactly ?

In this video Leo talks about how the model for the emotions is organized from least to most useful. I wonder if it is also organized in level of consciousness, from least to most, and in level of control and responsibility. I also saw a pattern in the way emotions are organized in this model that reminded me of the consciousness level model: Victim---Fighter---Creator---Peace It seems like the more one grows in consciousness, the more one feels higher and higher emotions on the spectrum. For example a victim feels basically 3 categories of emotions : Apathy, Grief and Fear While the fighter feels : Lust, Anger and Pride The Creator : Courage and Acceptance And the Peace stage : Peace

I have a dilema. I am afraid, that if I enter this path for melting the self-image, I will also melt my motivations and my desires. Isn't the desire for sex motivated by the ego ? Isn't the passion for my career motivated by the ego ? Please, try to really understand what I am trying to say here, read it carefully. I'm not just talking about obviously boasting and doing things to aggrandize my self-image, or getting a career that proves to myself that I am cool. I'm talking about the things that I really like to do, the things I do when I have high self-esteem, the way I behave, the way I feel run by desires and passions, aren't those desires and passions run by the ego ? Just answer to this post if you have made any amount of progress in this specific area of working with the ego. @Leo Gura

The thing is that I don't want to pursue enlightenment right now, but the way I wrote my post and the place I posted it made it seem like I did. I think I've misunderstood the goal of Leo's video here. -

Well, that's the goal. -

Trying to defend myself because in some way I felt attacked by your comment... -

Don't you think that's a pretty defensive and emotional response ? -

That reminds me of the consciousness spectrum: Victim--Fighter--Creator--Peace -

That's interesting, I've never thought about it this way. Don't you think that's a pretty self-righteous thought ? -

Thank you very much. That's good advice. -

This is interesting, when my behaviors are not ego-serving, who/what are they serving ? Because I have had this doubt on my mind for a while, when we talk about "the ego" and we say that it is "who we think we are", that includes everything right ? but it seems like it just includes the petty and low consciousness stuff, or just the "lower-self" it seems like the ego is just a part of ourselves, an entity that lives in... we... lives in the "I". I'm going to start a post about that actually... Isn't enlightenment ultimately an elimination of all neurosis ? I didn't say I got enlightened. I said I was able to see the difference between an action that comes from the "ego" and an action that comes from the "authentic self" although I still have a lot of doubts in relation to the concept of the ego and the concept of the authentic self. What I'm trying to say here is that I noticed two actions taken by me that came from "different sources", and one being "more shallow" than the other. But I might be deceiving myself. -

A better way to describe it is by asking : Does Self-Expressions comes from the ego ? is it healthy ? -
What exactly is Awareness ? I wanna attempt to define awareness as clear as possible. How does it feel ? How raised awareness feels different from low awareness ? Awareness is more like a laser that is pointed to a specific thing or more like a fire that can be raised to lighten the whole place ? What exactly are the most important things that need to be seen through the light of awareness ? In which specific ways can I raise my awareness, along with meditation ? PS : Awareness, Consciousness, Observation.. All the same.

I find this very helpful, because that is what I am really interested in. In developing awareness to dissect and melt away neurotic behaviors. -

@Salaam just... Thank you man. This was very helpful, I appreciate it. What do you think about this; The process of raising one's awareness is composed of two parts. One part is to train the skill of awareness, which is obtained through the practice of using awareness, and this can be trained using meditation. The other part is to see things that I was once blind to, using awareness, which then allows me to go deeper and search for more and more. This part takes an open mind, to question and to be willing to see new ways and perspectives, it takes the willingness to look and investigate into places never questioned before.
