  1. Cool =D I absolutely have had some moments like that in my life too, sad thing their usually so short. I think that part of living consciously, is about seeking to be aware of the beauty in everything =]
  2. That's definitely part of it, one of the things I've been trying to be aware of is the quality of my thoughts during the day, if they are high quality positive thoughts, or low quality negative thoughts. A thing that's helping me with that is meditation =]
  3. This is what I've experienced about living consciously described in the book : To seek to be aware of outer and inner realities. To have a mind that is active rather than passive, a mind that seeks to understand. To be present and to guide action accordingly.
  4. I think this can be useful but it depends on the intention, you can intentionally let go and accept but you need to remais totally aware of all relevant facts of reality. From my point of view, adding to Branden's perspective, living consciously means to be brutally honest with yourself, so you can let go and accept the facts of reality because in the present they can't be changed, and then, take action accordingly...
  5. 17 in march Been following Leo (and involved on the personal development industry) for about a year ! And I'm starting to see some serious improvements
  6. Hey guys, I've been experimenting with not fapping since I last posted on this topic, and now I can take my own conclusions, so : The increase in energy is absolutely true. Even if there is a little influence of placebo, the increase is real. Some days ago I got an ear infection and couldn't sleep enough, which would have ruined my next day, but even so, I woke up in the morning energetically and ready to rock ! The description on "Think and Grow Rich" on the chapter "The mystery of sex transmutation" is pretty accurate, it's like you have more vital energy, more drive, more passion. It's like you can channel all that energy into something else, (As Napoleon Hill describes) like a creative expression ! I did not noticed any change on my voice or anything, maybe is because my voice is already pretty rough I noticed an improvement in my confidence especially talking with girls BUT this is not a very good example because I am simultaneously working on my self esteem so... I don't know about this one. Conclusion : it's absolutely worth it and the results are real ! I don't know for how much longer I will keep my stream but I will certainly decrease the frequency of my masturbation
  7. You know that awful feeling when you want to say something but you just can't get yourself to say it ? or when you end up sacrificing your own opinions and thoughts for the approval of others ? or when you are afraid to do something even when everyone else thinks you can ? I would describe them as distressful. And I couldn't understand why this kept happening. On my journey to find out I got in contact with a lot of concepts and ideas, but none of them worked. Getting a quick fix like improving my skills with girls or socially never worked, and I wanted to understand and solve the root cause of the problem. And then I found out about the work of Nathaniel Branden on Self-Esteem. I loved the concept and bought the book. While I was reading it, on the chapter "the face of self esteem" it seemed like he was describing me when he talked about the behaviors of low self esteem individuals. Applying the ideas of the book into my life is the only thing that really has been making some big improvements in my life So, I'm making a commitment here, to integrate every single one of the pillars into my life ! Starting with The Practice of Living Consciously...
  8. Good Morning everyone So, my routines look like this : AM Sentence Completion Exercises Meditation PM Sentence Completion Exercises (Bookend) Gratitude Practice I wanna keep it simple but super consistent ! The sentence completion exercises are some I made following the model of Nathaniel Branden, in case you are curious : Living Consciously to me means... If I bring 5 percent more awareness to my feelings and impulses today... If I bring 5 percent more awareness to the quality of my thoughts today... If I bring 5 percent more awareness to the fluctuations of my self esteem levels through the day... and then on the bookend : Reflecting on my day, I can see that when I live more consciously... I've been following this routine for two days and I'm probably going to change the exercises in one week, until now I am seeing the current results : I can notice more often when I enter thought patterns that are not beneficial I can notice the activities that makes my self-esteem go up and the ones that make it goes down That's all, Good day people !
  9. @Guest Thanks for the wise words my friend ! Absolutely agreed. Self esteem is not about not having fear, it's about having fear but still acting upon it, and that's the frustrating part for me, sometimes I'm not able to act, like something were holding me back, and sometimes I am sure (on a conscious level) that this is the right act to take, but still can't do it. But the thing for me is, I already got some good results from working a little bit with this concept and that's why I'm so optimistic about this. From my experiences between fluctuations from high and low self-esteem,I feel like there is a slight difference on the feeling of an act that comes from a place of high self-esteem and a place of low self-esteem, and with high-self esteem, it doesn't matter if others aprove your thoughts or opinions when you show them, because the act of doing it is already a reward, different from low self-esteem acts, that desperately crave the approval of others.
  10. Hey Rayana ! How are you doing ? Thanks for the kind words So, I was reading The Six Pillars of Self-Esteem and I saw something that you might find interesting about selfishness...
  11. My journey is just beginning haha. For a long time I was just lost in theory, I don't think personal development gurus and writers stress how much important ACTION really is. To really be effective on personal development we need to find ways to apply the theory PRACTICALLY on our lives. There's a slight difference between knowing something INTELLECTUALLY and PRACTICALLY, and I'm just starting to pass things to the practical side hehehe As Aristotle said: "We are what we repeatedly do, excellence then is not an act, but a habit." I think the best kind of personal development you can be doing right now is consciousness work, why don't you check it out ?
  12. I think the reason why Eckart got enlightened so quickly is because as you said, he was going through a long period of anxiety and depression, which means that his ego was going through a lot of tension. Then he just had a sudden realization and his ego shattered. But I don't know, maybe he's not even enlightened at all, enlightenment is very hard to measure
  13. Hey Rayana ! It's pretty cool that you've been seeking to actualize even with such difficulties Maybe you could use this suffering to your advantage and bring awareness to all the emotions and thoughts that it causes in your mind. Think about how you can grow from your situation
  14. You know it would be pretty awesome if someone enlightened joined the forum
  15. Of Course ! When you meditate your brain waves slow down going deeper into the subconscious, if you are really concentrated you can even achieve theta, which is a highly sensitive state to the subconscious. So if you're trying to use affirmations to change the subconscious it's definitely worth a try. I personally like to use mantras as a tool of mind, to focus my thoughts on a particular direction, especially when they get all messed up in my head To be honest I'm still trying to install this habit and I often forget to use mantras hahaha
  16. @Joel Trinidad Wow dude ! One hour of strong determination sitting EVERYDAY ? You got balls man
  17. Absolutelly agreed :] But I am more interested on the more biological effects rather than on the psychological ones. I think I'm going to experiment with this nofap movement for some time, and see the effects on my energy, motivation, etc. If not beneficial to my energy, it can surely be good to my will power and my awareness of my body PS: I don't know if you've already read it but there's a great book about this subject: "the power of habit"
  18. Hum, this topic is very interesting, but I'm not sure of the conclusion, some say that masturbation is bad, some say is natural. I can see that excessive masturbation is obviously bad but can't total abstinence be also bad ? What about sex, if you're going to stop masturbating you should substitute it with sex ?
