  1. Very interesting post Jesper! Well I think both of these effects are rooted in a... denying of reality so to speak. In the impostor syndrome you go hard on yourself and you don't really see the greatness in you, only focusing on the negative aspect. In the Dunning-Kruger effect you simply just focus on the possitive aspects of yourself. Both are denying a fundamental part of reality, we need a balance between possitive aspects (to keep our confidence high) and negative aspects (to keep improving). Moreover talking about my own experience this happens every day, its absolutely stunning how people understimate or overstimate themselves. In my case one of my hobbies are sports, in sports most athletes think of themselves better than they really are, to some extent you need that confidence, but that leaves little space to improve. On the other hand I see the impostor syndrome with my classmates (I study physiotherapy), they are mostly afraid of participating or they fear attempting to answer a question in class and so on, I know we are learning, but if you want to do this effectively you must make mistakes. We could just say that you need a balance between seeing only your possitive qualities and the negative ones to fully understand reality and yourself.
  2. @Endew Glad I helped good luck on your journey, I really hope you boost your confidence and then chase after your life purpose with your head held high!
  3. hmm... I have to say I also had the struggle of knowing which one is the higher self and which one is the lower self, and if this last one is trying to 'trick' on me. In the end I found that most of the times the lower self seeks conformity for the ego and mostly just benefits yourself. When you start to see the difference between that concept and the opposed to it which is most of the times self-less, noble and most likely 'the hard way' so to speak, it becomes clear where each of them stand. I hope I shot some light and that I was able to help
  4. I do think that to find your life purpose and have the courage to follow your heart you might need that extra confidence first. So I encourage you to do the confidence course first
  5. In my humble opinion I do think you need your life purpose before anything else, it's not something that you need to study or read about to find... because it's in you, not outside. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. If it doesn't trigger that fire inside because of what you've done the last year and a half don't worry, just keep looking and don't settle. Good luck in your journey Lorelle
  6. We indeed can change the world starting with ourselves, loved the video. We are messed up but it's up to us if we want to change it or not. Love is the only way!
  7. @Majus I used to have that worry too! And I finally decided that the best way to avoid loosing this concentration is by spending some time every day simply feeding your mind with possitive mind sets and messages as well as images and so on. They will enter your subconscious in the end and really after doing this for some time I see mindblowing results!
  8. Man I love this topic so much and it has sooooo much depth. We could just say that any possitive habit of thinking will have an enormous impact, and if you add other objects to the equation like an image, a smell, a word, something you do with your hands, or really anything it will have so much impact. If you associate these affirmations to more things it will be easier to create that emotion for yourself. Elite athletes use this and it's really effective. You can find a lot of info on the internet I hope I helped
  9. I would recommend you just keep developing yourself and also that you keep looking for that thing that really triggers that fire inside. I assure you, when you find your passion you not only will want to impact the world with it but you will want to be the best at it and help others develop too. Keep looking, don't settle. I'm sure you will find it in no time without forcing it, the genuine drive to help others will come to you if you let it grow inside you. When you try to control any kind of tendency within yourself you will stop the progress, so just be and in no time you will see the efects
  10. Hello! It seems like a really deep problem in every level... But you must understand one thing (which I'm sure you already know), judging someone by his/her appearence is shallow and VERY limited. We live in this society unfortunately that limits itself to the surface because it's the first thing we experience about the things or people that surround us. Nevertheless my humble advice is that you stop worrying about what others say (easy said I know), but just think about it. Do this people know you really? I'm pretty sure that the people that are close to you don't really care about your appearance and love you for who you are. Learn to do that too with yourself and proof them wrong. Don't let a judgment from another person limit you. If you react to their judgments you will just make them stronger... Don't let it affect you, love yourself and slowly you will appear in the external world as the awesome human being you are. I really really hope I was able to drop some insights to your issue Good luck!
  11. I used to struggle with this issue too. I thought that to be mindful on something I needed zero distractions. But what if music helps me focus and whats more important... helps me to enjoy it in a deeper level. I found out that in some activities like working out it really makes a huge difference, but in others like studying it can really distract you unless you're doing something mechanic. So that is completely up to you, every person is different so I just can offer you my insights. In any case I hope it helped you
  12. Hmmm... Of course practice isn't enough to match someones experience. As I see it, you might need mental tools for this task. You did badly on the trials, alright, from there the only thing you can do is improve. Believing in yourself, practicing and trying again until you succeed is what I would recommend so yeah, I hope it helped you!
  13. Well here it goes, I remember I found Actualized searching for a video about leadership, almost a year ago. I loved it, and from there I started to acknowledge that I could develop myself however I wanted. I started loosing the ropes keeping me back by watching more videos. Then I began studying each topic carefuly until now, that I study and learn self-development every day What drives me to live? Being my true self, which I think I have finally found. I study physiotherapy, and my purpose in life is to help people to enjoy life whenever they don't manage to see it's beauty or even their own potential, and of course to experience that myself, being the best that I can be and understanding and experiencing life.
  14. I agree with Galyna, eventhough studying psychology will give you a deeper understanding about the human psyche it isn't really necessary at all. Simply do what you feel will fit more with you, if you study psychology do it because you really want to. Good luck in any path you decide to follow!
