Depends on the position of power of the person in question and what you're wanting from the whole struggle. Also depends on the specifics of the issue. In certain situations, you will have to fight. I was talking about the video in question, where it shows white people who are unhappy with the movement and the general reaction of 'racist' white people and SJWs judging them for those reactions. This specific issue shows a resentment of white people towards BLM. They weren't technically denying systemic racism, they were expressing their dissatisfaction with how it was handled. Were they racist? Yeah, but so is everyone else. Human beings are biased creatures. I don't agree with making an enemy of it if it isn't warranted, or it doesn't cause problems. -

There's only one way to get them to listen without being triggered - We expand our circle of concern to include them. If they feel neglected, it's very possible that they are. Of course White people were the slave owners and Black people were the slaves, so if you look at it from a 'social justice' perspective, White people are 'privileged' over Black people. So we will have to let go of the concept of 'social justice' or 'privilege' or 'equality' in order to really resolve this conflict. Tbh, I never really understood the concept of social justice. The way I understand justice, it is about preserving the integrity of the rules of the community. That is the whole point of punishing 'bad behavior', i.e. it's bad from the perspective of community survival. I don't quite understand why 'social justice' is needed, i.e. why do we need to re-surface past conflicts between races, sexes, etc. It isn't needed for community survival. I understand when minorities, women, LGBT community, etc. want to empower themselves, but when it comes at the cost of taking away the power of the majority, that's when 'social justice' becomes problematic. A lot of times the fight for 'social justice' becomes about taking revenge for the past. This doesn't solve anything, in fact it perpetuates the same cycle of hatred and resentment. What's really needed here is conflict-resolution on a mass scale. All parties involved need to be willing to come together and honestly resolve it. That won't happen if we cling to fighting for 'social justice'. It also won't happen if we try to manipulate this process for our own selfish ends. We could debate on what's 'natural' all day. My point is that the human mind is fundamentally biased for survival purposes. I don't think this is changing anytime soon. I understand what you're saying. The unfortunate reality of our world today is that most people will never know what compassion is. This does not mean we can't get them on our side. What we need is genuine resolution where all parties are willing to go through with it. -

People are triggered because they don't believe that BLM is for Black lives, they don't trust BLM to be true to its agenda. It can come across as anti-white. When you say BLM, it can come across as ostracizing and neglecting white people. It's not about making them bad. Here's the thing - SJWs in general come across as anti-society, or as antagonists to society. You will get antagonism back, especially from Blue people. Most people don't really make the connection between the problems of today's Black people and slavery in history. Even if they did, their reaction will be 'Why should I pay for my forefathers' crimes? They owned slaves, I don't.' Racism is not the exception, it is the norm. Everyone has unconscious biases, and they aren't necessarily bad, they're natural. It takes much more of an effort to be politically correct and not offend people. Maybe you understand why SJWs care about social justice, but you yourself don't really care about it. If you don't really care about social justice, your normal reaction will be 'Why don't white lives matter?' This is rationalized as racism by SJWs. -

I find it interesting that you expect people to trust BLM. Why should they trust you when you've been out rioting on the streets? Why shouldn't they be pissed and mad? It is natural and normal for them to ask the question 'But what about White lives?' You're basically showing them that you don't care about white people. Calling them 'haters' and 'racists' is a big rationalization. Even if you stand for something good and noble, so does Christianity. So do the KKK Alt-right Nazis. The mental story is always 'I am a good person and I have good reasons for doing what I'm doing.' -

Do the Dems have a plan of what to do if he does drop dead, or become seriously ill? It's one thing to stand for election, it's another thing entirely to be the President for 4 years. What happens if he drops dead when he is President? -
Parththakkar12 replied to Eren Eeager's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
@Eren Eeager Because The Great Donald deserves only the best and nothing but the best!! On a serious note, here's why - The problems that today's America faces are complex systemic issues that progressives haven't really evolved to understand and solve. Also, the issues were in the shadows where most people were denying them. In such a situation, it can get difficult to put your finger on them and really understand them. The Devil can do it's work in the shadows so to speak. When you're faced with this, from Universal perspective, the most efficient way to make progress is for those issues to come out of the shadows into plain-view. Trump represents all of the shadows of today's America. He basically serves as a bearer of bad news for us all, that we have a lot of work to do and if we don't, shit could get pretty bad. His egocentrism and impulsivity is very attention-grabbing precisely for this reason - he represents our shadows. The more we work on ourselves, the less we feed him with energy, the more likely we are to beat him. -

Ok fine. Lets just say they're able to continue their spying activities. How will they enforce any 'breaking of laws'? Will there even be a force to use? They will get very crippled after the collapse. They are beatable. You just gotta strike when the iron is hot. -

@FlowerNote There is. Mining is rewarded, hacking attempts are punished. -
Parththakkar12 replied to Lindsay's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
@FlowerNote There is the reward and punishment system, which will penalize you for tampering with the blockchain. Other servers will catch on to this as the blockchain is publicly available. Because the consensus algorithm is public, you need more than 50% votes to make a change in it. That's where regulation on the validity of transactions can really happen. -
Parththakkar12 replied to Lindsay's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
@Leo Gura It's decentralized, but it's not unregulated. It's very heavily regulated. The regulations are publicly voted on, i.e. they're not enacted by a central authority. -

Hinduism. My mom believes in praying to certain Hindu deities. She does so religiously everyday. Meditation is done like a traditional ritual in my family. This was started by my mom. By praying I mean chanting mantras, reading scriptures, etc. -

@Akemrelax I've been there, a Stage Blue dogmatic fundamentalist religious person when I was a teen. When I got out of my house and into college at 17-18, I got exposed to Orange for the first time after which I grew. I have a strong Blue foundation of hard work, discipline, religion, morality, desire for social cohesion, good manners, etc. I was dogmatically forced to meditate when I was a kid. I didn't like it very much back then but it's really helping me now! Because my foundation is so strong, I grew very fast through the other stages. The stronger your belief is in religion, the more you'll feel betrayed when you learn that it isn't the Absolute Truth, the more aggressively you'll question it and move towards atheism. This kid seems to have a desire for the Truth and he looks like he's on the path. Only he's been indoctrinated with Blue. When he learns that it isn't the Truth, he'll most likely start asking the good questions that lead him to the Truth. -

@Consciousone35 You understand the problem, but not enough to actually go about solving it. I'd suggest a deeper understanding of the problem first. Also, protesting/memes fundamentally don't solve the problem, it puts pressure on someone else to do it. If you call this your life purpose, you're gonna have to do better than that. -
Parththakkar12 replied to Consciousone35's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
Why is this a problem for you? If you've got an idea, go ahead and implement it! Tier 2 involves understanding that 'sexual assault' is not an isolated issue, it's connected with other issues. For example, a guy who grew up in a ghetto, wasn't well educated grows up to sexually assault someone. It involves getting to the root of the issue and working on eliminating that in your own way. For example, it could involve pushing for better education in underdeveloped areas. It could also involve creating better, cheaper mental healthcare for parents. -

Here's what I'd suggest - figure out what makes an offender. Maybe it's poverty, maybe it's divorces, maybe it's addicted parents (so addiction), maybe it's lack of sex education, maybe it's taboos around sex. You want to be looking at those factors and helping out potential offenders so that they don't offend. I'd suggest a preventative solution instead of a curative one. I personally don't have a lot of ideas to help survivors, other than for them to use available facilities, heal themselves and move on with their lives. I don't see a reason to encourage them to dwell too much on the past other than for healing purposes. As far as justice goes, that may or may not be beneficial to the healing of the specific survivor. I'd suggest going ahead with the fight for justice only if it's healthy and empowering for the survivor. This would be an individual decision. -

It is brave and honorable, no doubt about that. The problem though, is that the chances of your meme taking off aren't very high. Even if it does like #MeToo did, it'll not be received very well. I'll tell you why. Courage and honor aren't really enough to excite people, to move them forward. It's very respectable and most people are decent enough to understand that. But, it isn't necessarily inspiring. Society gets inspired by high-achieving leaders who are able to give people a sense of direction, who do great things, who have a life purpose. Putting a bad guy behind bars isn't really a life purpose, it's not really positively motivated. It comes across more like an abuse victim fighting for her survival, which is kinda ordinary. Ordinary doesn't take off, you must stand out somehow. The best case scenario in which you get a little bit of reaction, is if other abuse victims get inspired to share their stories like #MeToo. It can be helpful for people who've been through similar struggles to come together and support each other. But, the rest of society will feel sorry for them at best. The chances of someone else getting inspired to do something are pretty low, like what happened with #MeToo. The emotions you're triggering are: Fear, Guilt, Shame, Embarrassment, Pity, Powerlessness, Hope (at best). Not inspiring emotions. Memes also take off because of entertainment value, but that's simply not what we're doing here. (I hope not. The last thing we want is someone laughing at an abuse story.) -
Parththakkar12 replied to Consciousone35's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
There is a deep reason society doesn't like victims reporting and why it's a fight. Collectively, we'd rather turn a blind eye to sexual assault rather than face the reality. If we face the reality, we'll have to take responsibility for it and admit to enabling it. I'd highly recommend you watch Leo's video on The Devil, or 'The Mechanics of Evil'. If you understand that video, you'll understand me when I say this: A fight for justice doesn't really contribute much to society. I mean yeah, it puts a bad actor in jail, but we're still resisting the problem of evil. Justice is fundamentally about survival of the collective. It is fundamentally about upholding the integrity of the rules of the community, which is a collective survival function. This is why it can get very difficult for you to create a society where victims are encouraged to report and fight for it, because survival isn't inherently exciting, or inspiring, or meaningful. I'm not commenting on the fairness/unfairness of this, the point is to look at it from society's perspective. If you really want a solution to the issue of sexual assault, I have a much better solution. Start by looking at your life and seeing how you enable the issue of sexual assault. Leo talks about this in his video on Evil, that it is a part of You. I'd highly recommend waking up to this reality first, before you really take action. -

You're not gonna like my answer to this one. Reporting is fully the responsibility of the survivor. If the survivor doesn't report, nobody can save them. Don't mistake the following for victim-blaming. I'm looking at the objective facts here. If you are a survivor, you have gotten yourself in a position in life where you're getting abused. Technically you are responsible for where you stand. It's an unbelievably bitter pill to swallow, but it is the unfortunate reality. Now, this is your fight. You're gonna have to be willing to use all your strength to fight your abuser, no matter the consequences. You are dealing with someone who is willing to cause you more harm than you are to them. This will have to change. The system is a tool you can use to fight them. It is also a tool they can use to fight you. We know how court cases go, shit gets ugly. This is the real reason for under-reporting - that the fight for justice can get ugly and brutal. A survivor will have to be willing to fight hard, reporting is only step 1. Edit: I'll mention why nobody can save a survivor who doesn't report. Because if there's no victim on paper, there's no crime, so no action. -

You do sound like you have a chip on your shoulder on this issue. I'd put you on Stage Green relative to this issue. I'd suggest you do activism relative to this issue. You'd be able to maybe resurrect #MeToo or start something else like that on social media. When I say activism I mean going on the streets and protesting, doing ground-level activism. You can join some sort of NGO that does this. They'll have their policy proposals they'll push for. You can choose which one you're passionate about and be the loud voice that gets it done. -
Parththakkar12 replied to Nak Khid's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
What if the system is fundamentally incapable of handling the change protesters want? If that's true, the system will simply be unable to stop the violence because it won't be able to strike a deal with the protesters. The protesters/rioters will end up tearing the system to the ground. In that case, we could see radical progress come on the back of major conflict/war. -

You're looking to evolve the people in these rings, who are at Stage Red to Blue. If you really want to help them, I'd suggest studying the psychology of psychopaths, sociopaths and narcissists. Psychopaths and sociopaths get stuck at Red because they don't have the capacity to prioritize acting according to a moral ideology, the way most normal people can. Normal people who are at Blue and above can suppress their emotions and act according to an ideology, which helps us have basic integrity of action, i.e. our actions can match our words. This isn't the case for them. The mind needs to be able to rationalize why it did what it did. So, once they go through an ego reaction, their mind will come up with a moral justification for why they did that. You may feel like you have their morality. But, the next time, they will do something opposite of their previously held morality and their mind will come up with a totally different morality to justify what they did! Because this whole process is subconscious, they will not see themselves doing this. In fact, they themselves will fully believe that they did it because of the morality they stated. This isn't true morality, it's ego-reactivity covered by fake morality. This is Red that's unable to evolve to Blue. Integrity will not be important to them. If you show them a lack of integrity, they will not feel shame for having broken their integrity, in fact they will have a reaction of 'Haha! Gotcha, didn't I?' A lot of times they're physically unable to suppress their emotions. You need that ability in order to decide to act according to your moral ideology. There is only one way with them. Give them emotional mastery practices. If their emotional reactivity has gotten them in a lot of trouble in the past, they will grab it with both hands. This could involve psychedelics. When they see their connection to other people, they won't need a morality to act like a good person. -

Exactly! But the left has no clue what they're doing atm. Trump will take advantage of this. Also, it's all good and fine to talk about economic problems. It's also good and fine to come up with some interesting ideas individually in your room. It's a much much different story to go out and implement them. The progressives need ideas that are seriously implementable and that are sellable to the masses. When someone on the left does that, that will blow away all the Trumpism. Here's the thing: It's very easy for Trump to sit back and slander the left for having bad, un-implementable economic policy ideas. It's much harder for the left to come up with something that's implementable, amidst the shit getting thrown their way. The left have always had a harder challenge when it comes to getting power for this reason.
