I think what many on here are talking about is empathy. I fall into this trap of why others don't do something they 'should' be doing which 'I' think is good for them. When this happens to me, I tell myself that the world is perfect and then let it go. Not easy......but simple nonetheless.

Were we all segregationist's in the past for, as Leo is saying, survival. For instance, a Nordic person may struggle with an environment near the equator, as a person from Kenya may struggle in an arctic environment. With modern inventions and technology we have gained comfort so the struggle does not exist.
-
I think what Leo was getting at was collective genetics. So yes, I guess we are all slaves. That is, if I understood what Leo was saying.

In Milwaukee, Wisconsin they just spent over 800 million dollars on a trolley train which goes around a two mile loop. The Mayor and the city council said it will pay for itself with the amount of riders. Few people are riding it and the city is hemorrhaging money to keep it going. The Mayor and city council are proposing a 1% increase on sales tax to continue funding it, and get this......Expand. This does nothing, in fact, it hurts the poor. this is how I see things going with BI. It makes people feel good about what it is intended to do. However, when it doesn't work, they will say, "it's because we need to dump more money into the program", even if it doesn't work.

I have witnessed this type of behavior with older generations and I have also seen this tamed down with later generations. As Leo has said, we are all slave owners. I think we are collectively growing with each generation.

@Serotoninluv Thank you. This helps me understand where I have been, where I am now, and where I am looking toward. Watching the videos and doing the work has helped, but getting involved in the forums helps with many things, such as mindfulness with the action of dealing with people.
-
@Serotoninluv I don't think it should be illegal, I don't think it is healthy for me. So....where does that fall into SD?
-
I'm not sure where I am on SD but this comment represents what I am striving for. Does this make sense to you@Serotoninluv

People helping people is much more effective rather than government helping people. I wonder if we will ever have a choice in which non-profit organizations our tax money would go toward. Maybe the government could give the tax payers a list of them, and then we could choose a handful of organizations. Government makes these choices for us now, why not allow us to choose. Just a thought...

It happens daily....

I should have been more clear about what I was attempting to convey. I understand the differences in forms of socialism. I was interpreting what the impressions are to the average voter, because most do not understand the differences. Bernie and Warren talk about some revolutionary policy changes, in which, I don't think the average voter resonates with. This is where the term Socialism may make some of the Centrist Democrats nervous.
-
People vote for the candidate who best resonates with themselves. The Dems need to put out better candidates than Hillary if they want to win. I don't think that is happening with the top three Dems. 2 socialist professors and a career politician who is all over the map. Also, Trump and the Republicans just put $1,500 in the voters pocket annually. That will resonate with the many voters down the road as well.

Unless I missed it, he isn't for higher taxes.

I agree, I think a better measurement of employment is the total number of people employed with an averaged income. Maybe an averaged income per job.

I think if Bernie is the candidate, some of the moderates will sit out. If it is Biden, some of the Bernie supporters will rebel and sit out. Trump has as much of a chance of winning Wisconsin as he did in 2016, IMO. I think the convention may be the motivator which gives the Dems the edge though.
-
In 2018 Democrats won governor here in Wisconsin as well. Trump won Wisconsin by 20,000 votes in 2016, and in 2018 the Dems won governor by 30,000 votes. I don't see a shift here, with the on exception that the Dems are motivated. It comes down to turn out and motivation. I get a sense that many of the Dems are discouraged with their choices thus far. They either want to move big with Bernie, who won Wisconsin in the primary, or go more moderate with Biden. It should be an interesting year in politics here.
-
In Wisconsin Trump is down 8 to 10 points to the top 3 Dems. It may be due to the excitement over the convention being held in Milwaukee next year.

@Revolutionary Think I don't think I agree with Nick on the taxes of the rich would lower unemployment. The unemployment rate in the U.S. is at 3.6% which is less than half the rate in EU. Did I miss something in his talk?
-
Taxes are forced upon people, in which, is not a good idea for the long term. Programs are added to a government policy, never deleted. Government takes their share......first. Think about this......our government pays farmers to not farm. Give people their money back and, we the people, will do a much better job on poverty.

New York State has passed law stating that if a baby is born during, or with the intension of, an abortion, the mother and doctor shall consult. If the conclusion is that the mother does not want the baby, the baby shall be left to die. The reason I used 30 days is because, the baby could possibly live that long. I was only giving an extreme example to make a point. Reflecting back I should have been more clear that it was only an example and not an opinion. I think some triggers went off with some people. Don't worry, it's just an ego LOL
-
the states of New York and Virginia call that abortion. Does it really make a difference if it is 1, 2, or 30 days?
-
Seriously.....I was giving extreme examples to make a point. And, okay, I should really not talk about abortion because seriously.....I'm not a woman.
-
Not sure if it is absurd. You may be okay with abortion 30 days after birth. I may be against abortion in any case. Are either of these absurd, or just different.
-
I like much of what is said here. However, it seems obvious to me that there are two distinctions. 1 - People who genuinely want to help people 2 - People who genuinely want other people to help people
-
Wants are not needs. Yes, people should be able to do whatever the fuck they want. As long as they not harming anyone. Government in the U.S. was put in place to protect the people, and that's all. We are truly messing things up though. I noticed the word freedom was left out of your comments. We still have freedom here in the States. That is, until the liberals prevail.
