I agree. Leo says over and over that his material is mainly for serious practitioners, but perhaps he should put an official disclaimer at the beginning of each video that delves into those deep metaphysical topics. Or even a suggestion that before they watch the particular episode, they should go watch certain foundational episodes that will lead up to that topic. I know he does that sometimes, but I do feel like he should take a little more care in making sure people understand what they’re getting into. At the very least just to cover his ass, haha. Cause this shit really can have a negative effect on the minds of people who have not taken the time to build the proper philosophical foundation. Before I ever listened to Leo I had already gone through 3-4 years of my own self-inquiry and deep philosophical contemplation. I had already found out on my own that there was no self, that I was the universe experiencing itself(I didn’t like the term “God” back then), and that I, as consciousness itself, was going to live through every lifetime. I realized that reality must necessarily be absolutely infinite and that everything manifesting within consciousness must therefore be relative, purely conceptual, and unknowable. So by the time I got to Leo’s teachings, these concepts of being the only one in existence didn’t really phase me. I was 27 years old at that time. But there are kids who are like 16-18 years old who come into these teachings who have probably only took one philosophy class in their life, if that, and there’s this talking head on YouTube telling them that their entire life is a dream and no one in their life is real. I can totally imagine the emotional turmoil I might have felt having heard that when I was that age. That definitely could have fucked me up.

I’m awaiting the one about solipsism. Not because I have an issue with the whole solipsism thing - quite the contrary. I’m just curious as to how he will address it, as he’s seemed quite reluctant to really delve into the issue.

I’m actually kind of disappointed. I was hoping for a better argument.

He takes at least a month off at the beginning of each year. -
Last one doesn’t have vocals, but the melody is so sublime. These are amazing tracks to listen to while tripping.

Based on some things that he’s said in the past, I’ve had the suspicion that Sam Harris might actually be a closet non-dualist. That’s probably not true, but one can dream. -

Life’s no fun if you don’t play along with illusions. -

What is this “I” you speak of? -

You are experiencing what I’m experiencing right now. That nothingness that is looking out from behind your eyes is the exact same nothingness that is looking out from behind mine. -

I haven’t the faintest. Was just asking to see if OP had a sufficient definition of the word to begin with so we could decide whether or not the question is even a coherent one. -

Think of the religion like a multicellular organism, and think of the people who make up that religion like the cells that make up that organism. And think of ideas against the religion like germs that could kill the cells within the organism. As an organism, the concept of hell is like the religions immune system which keeps people from entertaining certain ideas and thinking for themselves out of fear. The concept of hell is like religions last line of defense, when everything else fails to keep people in. -

Actually Leo has said that he has had deeper realizations that he hasn’t really talked about because it defies all communication. And he’s always said to never stop inquiring because this goes infinitely deep. So perhaps he’s realized something deeper than yourself. It’s very presumptuous of you to assume you understand exactly how deep Leo or anyone else here has gone. -

ADD is a real struggle my friend, and I too suffer from it, so I’m not going to tell you you should just not take any medication for it. I have been prescribed Adderall before and it certainly helped at first but it eventually started to mess me up and I started have anxiety issues from it. Constant rapid heart beat, frequent heart palpitations, panic attacks. This was very very unusual for me as I had never suffered from anxiety before using it. Personally, I would not use it again. If I were to have to be prescribed another stimulant, I would take Modafinil instead, as it is far less jittery and does not raise the heart beat so much. It more just gives the focus apart from the jittery euphoria you get from adderall. But psychiatrists have other non-stimulant medications that can raise dopamine in the brain and they are effective. I would honestly try those first, and then go to stimulants if they don’t seem to work for you. On top of medication, you should also start to retrain your mind to focus on one thing at a time. -

There is appearance. To deny this is to deny existence itself, which is pure foolishness. Appearance and nothingness are not mutually exclusive. -

“Nothing” is precisely what is before you now. -

Oof. One of the first things you should understand if you’ve had even the slightest bit of an awakening is that there is no self and that your identity is an illusion. This is like, Spirituality 101, my guy. There are greater and lesser degrees of understanding this, but a more advanced understanding is that all there is is simply appearance happening within pure nothingness to no one, nowhere, no when, and no how. And any significance or meaning that is put on any of the appearances is pure imagination. -

Experience exists. This “my own” business is a projection. There is only consciousness and the phenomenon that arises within it. This experience does not belong to anyone and it is not happening to anybody. -

If you yourself don’t even exist, why would you think “others” could exist? -
Boredom is the result of an inactive mind and taking things for granted, blinding yourself to how infinitely fascinating even the most minute aspect of reality is.

It depends on the nature of the conversation and the relationship I have with the person I’m talking to, but most of the time I just literally say, “Hold on.”(while smiling) in a sort of non-aggressive yet firm way just to let them know I expect for them to let me finish my thoughts. This usually does the trick, if the person is even half conscious. A few times I’ve actually had to stop them and be like “Listen, if we’re gonna have a conversation, you gotta let me speak so we can have a mutual back and forth, otherwise we’re not having a conversation; this is just you talking at me.” That is totally last resort, though. It’s usually not worth it to do that if it’s just a casual conversation, because it will usually upset them and change the tone of the conversation entirely. It’s only worth it to do that if you’re having a sort of serious conversation.
