I could not decide which subforum to put this; Spirituality, High Consciousness, or Book Reviews. So, I'm really getting into Neville Goddard. Would it be correct to interpret that a lot of his material is Law of Attraction? I'm going to post below some direct quotes from the book above and my interpretation (my interpretation in bold italic). I wondered if anyone else finds his below content quite inspirational? Every feeling makes a subconscious impression and, unless it is counteracted by a more powerful feeling of an opposite nature, must be expressed. The dominant of two feelings is the one expressed. So for me, this could mean fully accepting and sitting with the difficult feeling but then moving on to visualising or contemplating on an alternative, more positive and empowering feeling. Sensation precedes manifestation and is the foundation upon which all manifestation rests (Is he saying that feelings dictate manifestation?) Be careful of your moods and feelings, for there is an unbroken connection between your feelings and your visible world. Your body is an emotional filter and bears the unmistakable marks of your prevalent emotions. Emotional disturbances, especially suppressed emotions, are the causes of all disease. To feel intensely about a wrong with-out voicing or expressing that feeling is the beginning of disease. This reminds me of a section of a Dr Phil book where he argues that we don't get away with dysfunctional thought patterns, emotions, and behaviours as much as we think we do. Think feelingly only of the state you desire to realize. Feeling the reality of the state sought and living and acting on that conviction is the way of all seeming miracles. A change of feeling is a change of destiny. All creation occurs in the domain of the subconscious. What you must acquire, then, is a reflective control of the operation of the subconscious, that is, control of your ideas and feelings. This reads to me like someone who has reached an advanced state? Do you think that the more you can influence your subconscious the more you can attain a degree of emotional mastery? The subconscious is not selective; it is impersonal and no respecter of persons. The subconscious is not concerned with the truth or falsity of your feeling. It always accepts as true that which you feel to be true. This rings very true! The subconscious never fails to express that which has been impressed upon it. The moment it receives an impression, it begins to work out the ways of its expression. It accepts the feeling impressed upon it, your feeling, as a fact. The subconscious never alters the accepted beliefs of man. To me this highlights how we can live on auto-pilot, sleep walking through life like a puppet being controlled by our ego and/or emotions. However, until perfect self-control is attained, so that, in spite of appearances, you feel all that you want to feel, (this reminds me of Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take) use sleep and prayer to aid you in realizing your desired states. These are the two gateways into the subconscious. (He says sleep and prayer, but I am assuming also meditation?) Man awake is under compulsion to express his subconscious impressions. Do not waste one moment in regret, for to think feelingly of the mistakes of the past is to reinfect yourself. Turn from appearances and assume the feeling that would be yours were you already the one you wish to be. Again, Proverbs 3:5-6 as above. Prayer is not so much what you ask for, as how you prepare for its reception. “Whatsoever things ye desire, when ye pray believe that you have received them, and ye shall have them” [Mark 11:24]. Any comments or interpretation on this? Law of Attraction? The only condition required is that you believe that your prayers are already realized. Any comments or interpretation on this? Law of Attraction? All you can possibly need or desire is already yours. You need no helper to give it to you; it is yours now. Call your desires into being by imagining and feeling your wish fulfilled. Any comments or interpretation on this? Law of Attraction?

That's great. I've struggled with the traditional posture though and like to lean up against something to support my back. So for 3 hours, what do you end up mostly thinking about while your meditating? -
Love all these quotes. Good thread. Especially the original post.

Mental masturbation is a pandemic but thankfully the death rates are low. Not sure on the recovery rates though ??✌ -
In what way? Some write best selling books and are prestigious lecturers. Or are you talking about the odd philosopher who has fallen on hard times and become a bum? LOL Wtf man? Your post had me chuckling away for a good few minutes.

I think when people leave the forum it's normally to take a break from mental masturbation, or to practice their mental masturbation in private instead of here on show There needs to be a NO FAP movement to help all people addicted to mental masturbation. But on a serious note, thanks for your comments on my journal, be nice to stay in touch. So the forum isn't meeting your needs or holding your interest?

Thanks Peter. I need to get back into the journal, been lazy with it. Thanks for this.

This journal will focus on the Bible and how I'm using the Bible to help my mental health and personal development. The only other source material will be The Life Recovery Bible which links Alcoholics Anonymous material and principles with the Bible. My intention with the Bible is for it to act as a guide with the following; To get out of my own head more. Less time in SELF. With the above in mind, be more useful to others. Not to make me a good person, but to make me a more well person. To handle my resentments. To try and keep the sense of entitlement lower and humility higher. Deepen my relationship with God. The Bible is a great fit for letting go and surrender work. It reads just like David Hawkins Letting Go to me. The Hawkins book being one of the most amazing books I've ever read. I spent most of my life thinking personal development was accruing things, accumulating things and getting things. I then came to believe that in fact, it is more a process of losing things, letting go, jettisoning, dumping, and removal. As the old programmes are removed, new programmes are automatically installed. My previous journal is here

Are you alright? Yep. I was an unbeliever before. -
Great link. Thank you.

The timing of this question. I'm not sure whether you are trying to be funny (and I am actually laughing to be fair), or you are being admirably down to earth and keep calm and carry on! Either way, well played! Even God ain't too keen on messing with COVID 19 right now!

It's people like you that live too long that is crippling the NHS
-
Too true and well said. It most definitely applies to me what you said. As for your DoB on your profile. Be careful mate as you are at increased risk re COVID-19 due to your age group Date of Birth 07/04/1873

Great thread man. Thanks for taking the time. That's a lot of work you put in to give us this. I've bookmarked to come back to and to think about implementing some of it for myself. The emphasis on breathing and also dopamine is nice. I'm in a bit of a rut with this forum at the moment feeling that everything's crap on here and a waste of time to read and i hate feeling like that. So stumbling onto this is great. It's positive and grounds you back to basics. Well done for this and thanks!

I never got back to you! We've all been instructed to work from home at the moment. So I'm doing all my client work by phone, text, and email. It makes me wonder what would have become of me if this whole Coronavirus stuff hadn't kicked off, because I was on the verge on completely falling apart at work. Now, I have some much needed perspective and the pressure is off somewhat. I feel bad saying that, but it's true. I feel saved by the bell a little bit. I can't pretend to feel otherwise. I feel a massive sense of gratitude. I've still got my job. Still on the same salary and working from home with 50% less work pressure because all the job targets have needed to be relaxed a bit. However, it's a private company who get paid by meeting Government targets. Sooner or later the math's won't add up and there could be changes. I've got my nursing status to fall back on if that happens. I'm still a registered nurse. My dad's pissed because the two things he likes doing have gone. Pub breakfast in the morning and then pub drinking in the evening, so I'm supporting him a bit more, he lives over the road from me and he is 77 and on his own. But back to you... As you say, stress can do that. I read once something that always stays with me.... at times of stress we fall back on our existing habits. These habits will either be good habits, bad habits, or a mixture. Whatever habits you have built, you will practice and lean on at times of stress. So, that's where it could be either; booze, porn, anger, manipulation, eating, or it could be meditation, prayer, reading, exercise, social connection or relaxation. If you are anything like me and the vast majority of 12-step programme members, when you have practiced bad habits for 90% of the time over the course of 10+ years, compared to 10% good habits, then guess what happens? Revert to type and get right back into those bad habits unless you purposefully and with complete dedication install and practice new habits.

That's nice Keyhole. Thanks With the group meditation. I much prefer the idea of people meditating or praying together at the same time for everyone, so we are doing it together at the same time if that makes sense, but I know it could be a challenge in terms of time zones. I've always found meditation more powerful when done with others, either in person, or remotely like we are discussing here. -

Your comments about race are more idiotic than the original post. And why is it a threat? You are seeing things that are not there, like a meltdown. It's not worth freaking out on. Now is the not the time to do that. I've been forever saying that. -

Massive over reaction. How many times have you left the forum? -
There most likely is alien breatherians as it wouldn't surprise me that another lifeform has transcended the need for food to survive. Humans are probably the most fragile in the Universe. We need water and food or we are dead. We are too dependent.

Pubs have closed in the UK which is good. I'm hoping when all this has blown over that they decide we didn't need pubs anyway and they stay closed.

OG always meant own goal to me. In football terms (or soccer). So I don't know how Sadhguru has scored an own goal? Unless he has done a Mooji type own goal with female followers. No idea. -
I think it's allowed as long as Leo gets a finders fee.

It's not easy suppressing the male sexual instinct. Doesn't matter if you a turquoise or red

This person has started off a lovely and positive thread. It's a great idea. Meditating is taking action. Prayer is taking action. I love the way the original poster has just responded with even more positivity each time you have replied ??✌ -
You look a remarkably composed and happy for a man hanging on to a tree branch trying not to fall 50 feet. ??
