  1. I am a meat eater. I have recently (so many times) been drawn to blogs and vid clips about vegetarians. Is it really bad to eat meat, and if so why? When ever I do go more than a few days without meat, I feel like I need a good feed, even though I eat plenty of nuts, fruit etc... Any input???
  2. @Natura Sonoris Hi.. I think myself think the key to it all, the aim being to rid your mind of 'chatter', is over the long term, just to be aware each day of the chatter, and concentrate on what's at hand in the present moment. I find myself doing something, with my mind racing. Once I realize what's happening in my head, I make a conscious effort to get my mind back into the present. TEven if you are busy, your mind is at peace as long as its concentrating on one thing, i.e. the thing you are doing, or the person you are talking with. Im waffling.. sorry... !! My mind is on the job lol.
  3. I have read about memory in articles of late, and (on the subject of food) the good fats and oils are important as well as 'good healthy gut bacteria'. Lots of new things being found out about the brain and our diets and what foods we put (or don't put) into our mouths. I am re-educating myself as far as food goes, so much to re learn and change in this dept for me. Acupuncture and acupressure are popular these days too. Thanks for the post
  4. @appleaurorae Hi appleaurorae, I'm no health professional by any means, but lately have been looking into my health, and have learned that adrenal function and cortisol levels have alot to do with retaining belly fat. Maybe a check up with a natural dr or naturopath to get things sorted, I had a thorough blood test done with dr, and now im going to see a naturopath to try and get to the root cause of some of my health concerns. Good luck!!
  5. @IVONNE When I seem to have "chatter and excessive" thoughts, I take note of it, and think about what is on my mind, (just briefly), then say "Ok thoughts, time to take a break" and imagine them going into a box, or up to the the sky and being carried away. It's up to us to direct our thoughts, or stay concentrating on them.. we just have to train ourselves to allow them to go when we decide we have thought about them enough. This is what I try to practice, as I have had so much on my mind at times. Don't allow what this family member does affect you, put up an invisible boundary around yourself, and when you've had enough, let the rest of it bounce back off your boundary... then you are safe and more at peace, as you are not taking all the drama in. What they say, is what they say (or do).. but what you allow yourself to take on and get under your skin is up to you. You have the last say when it comes to what you allow to bother you and what won't. We are our own boss when it comes to our mind and what we allow to affect us. Takes practice, but give it a go x
  6. @IVONNE Hi Ivonne, what we want, and what is, sometimes are two different things. You can't make someone call you, message you, think of you more etc. That is up to them. What I find is the only thing I can do when in that same position as you, is to realize they have the freedom to do what they want. I now realize I wouldn't want anyone to be in my life just because I want them there. I want them in my life because they want to be there. Just because someone doesn't want the same relationship as you imagine, doesn't mean they don't like you, maybe it means they were in your life for that time to allow you to learn something. I love this poem... it allows me to realize that everyone who has been or still is in my life, was or is there for a reason (in the big picture of birth to the end!!)... I hope you can come to peace with this situation There are alot of lovely people out there who you are yet to meet. I have come across people in my life, they have come and gone, some I wanted to hang onto longer.. but what I learned was that no matter how long they are with us, we are still worthy, we are still an ok person. You sure are too. Reason, Season, or Lifetime People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you figure out which one it is, you will know what to do for each person. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty; to provide you with guidance and support; to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend, and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on. Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it. It is real. But only for a season. LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons; things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person, and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant. — Unknown
  7. What do you find works best to raise your good cholesterol and lowering the bad. I don't eat white bread, cream cakes or junk food. My HDL is reasonably good, and my LDL is a tiny bit high (which alerts the doctors), who of course suggest tablets, which I refuse to take. So... anyone got ideas about virgin oils or eggs, what is good, what is bad... ???
  8. I think its normal being attracted to someone physically, but you must weigh up the emotional side too.... cant be one way or the other too much. Follow your true heart.
  9. learning to self love... be who you are and not who you think others want you to be. Be happy with your own company
  10. eeeeek!!!!!!!! I know how it feels.. ive tried it..... not sure if i like it!!! Sure does bring you back to the 'now'... but not sure is its comfortable enough!!
  11. @Sarah_Flagg yes.. everything else is good with my bloods...
  12. I have learned to stop thinking about what others think about what I have to say, what others think about if I'm introverted etc.. just listen to what people are saying, really listen to them, and if you have something to add, great, but if not, maybe they are not the ones to be with. There is nothing wrong with being a good listener. Just be yourself and know you are an ok person
  13. “Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I'm not perfect -and I don't live to be- but before you start pointing fingers... make sure you hands are clean!” ― Bob Marley
  14. @Leo Gura "I am completely independent of the good or the bad opinion of others" from Leo Gura. Thanks Leo.. I repeat this over each day... thankyou thankyou thankyou!!!!!
  15. @Lynnel i kind of thought that was the sort of lady he was after
  16. @Lynnel Getting laid isn't the end all and be all of a relationship, there is 'lots' more to intimate fun than just getting laid. One can get laid and feel empty quickly after... so evolution is harsh... its not for the light hearted.
  17. I believe old relationships should be treated in a way we remember them with a smile, but know that they were in the past, and we have become who we are today because of them. We dont have to relive them, only the memory, (for a while) then let it go. x
  18. Pablo Neruda.... one of my favourite poets. “Someday, somewhere - anywhere, unfailingly, you'll find yourself, and that, and only that, can be the happiest or bitterest hour of your life.” ― Pablo Neruda
  19. Hi Stelka, are you happy in your life now with your boyfriend and the things you do together? Or are things boring?? Maybe think about what kind of life you would like and suggest new things to do and participate in with your new boyfriend that may make you enjoy life a bit more. Maybe even get into something of your own, a new sport, hobby, an outings group etc... If you are happy and busy doing things you enjoy, you may not find time to be thinking so much of your ex??
  20. I'm married for some years now, and thinking back to when i was around 25, I suppose women were like you describe because most guys weren't sure how to treat women, and they (men) appeared reckless and insensitive. So the women acted accordingly. It may take a bit longer, and you may have to find different places to visit to meet women who actually like to be treated with respect and gentleness and caring.
  21. Hi kalter, I like affirmations for the reason that when I'm feeling a bit low and thinking negatively, I find by changing my thinking and having positive thoughts, really help. I believe where I have my thoughts depicts my mood. So.... yes I do try and 'talk to myself' in the form of affirmations when i am aware of the fact I need to think good things instead of negative things. If it helps, it can't be bad
  22. In reply to quotes, I love this one: "What other people think of me is none of my business." Wayne Dyer is one who has quoted this I believe.
  23. Me too. This is one of the things in my life where I know I really have to be aware of where my thoughts are. If I find I'm in the past or future, or worrying about things excessively, I really do have to make an effort and move my thoughts to my breathe or to whatever I am doing. For example if I'm driving the car and my thoughts wander, I bring them back to the music I'm playing, or the woman walking the dog on the sidewalk, etc.. and really take notice of something that is happening right now at this moment.
