Tripping is very nuanced, and there are so many variables as mentioned here^ above. The OP refers to undeveloped people, the reply quoted mentions immature people but these are judgements which overlook the key fact that how the tripper holds themselves to be is just as relevant. What is their hedonic tone ie what has life been like for them in the days up to the trip, and its effect on their underlying state of ease/disquiet? What does "a spiritual experience" mean to them at their current level of understanding, and are they open to not allowing these notions to shape how they interpret what they experience whilst tripping? The setting, including "Ayahuasca retreats" with mature experienced people will also have an effect on the trip which again relates to the trippers pre-conceived notions and ability to relinquish or simply exchange them for the beliefs of those present and "providing the flavour" of the setting. Psychedelics work on what you bring to the table, and how tightly (or otherwise) this is held on to; they also produce a condition of such openness that manipulation (which can be intended or not) can readily be produced. This manipulation is less of an issue if one trips alone but the paradox/rub is that tripping alone is very risky for the inexperienced, and in order to get the experience required to navigate successfully one has to learn to trip with others present, and become cognizant of how the presence of others affects the trip. -
A little discussed topic here is the phenomenon of the 5 MeO DMT "reactivation"; this is pretty well documented elsewhere and "I experienced" one for the first time several days ago. This was in the setting of being 2.5 hours into a 100mcg 1p-LSD trip and was utterly remarkable insofar as it was complete from having the taste of vaporization and full propulsion into the non-dual state. On emergence the duration had been several minutes with the full-bodied effects one sees/feels (for want of a better term), the familiar recognition of "How could it be otherwise?", and a sense of getting there by simply forgetting to forget "who" I actually am. Moreover, for the subsequent 3 hours I experienced a novel state of synaesthesia in which the words which made up thoughts evoked their own particular tastes (known as lexical-gustatory synaesthesia), along with an enduring sense of loss of the subject-object relationship which has remained in which all is experienced as a flow, including thoughts which are evident as a part of this, akin to the 6th sense gateway. The subject-object interpretation remains accessible, but naturally and effortlessly seems no more compelling than the state of flow currently experienced, and both are held as valid without requiring maintenance through active cognition. One has not displaced the other but it seems more like an expansion of perspective which incorporates both with no tension between them. It would also seem that we as human beings are like a locus of feeling/experiencing which automatically convert these into language-representations to ourselves in order to give a form or sense to what is experiential, and ultimately this is not bound to these interpretations, nor to anything else. We imprison ourselves within these, and yet freedom is not elsewhere. 5 MeO DMT reactivations are anecdotally more common around the time of falling asleep and can occur within clear consciousness ie no other psychedelics on board; I would imagine that these could be profoundly disorientating because what happened in my case ie effectively indistinguishable from 12+mg vaporized, occurring unexpectedly would be a cause to question ones mental well-being. 5 MeO DMT is no joke, and this stuff can utterly destabilize ones perceptual/cognitive foundations. This is something all users should consider carefully.

Absolutely, but consider the effects on establishing the prevalence/incidence of the disease in a population particularly when applying this test to those who are purportedly asymptomatic cases, or labelled as such. -

It is possible to detect RNA fragments from other viruses which may be the same base sequence but are known to be not exclusive to the SARS-Cov-2 virus ie the false positive test. Heres some info on this: https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanres/article/PIIS2213-2600(20)30453-7/fulltext The clinical behaviour in Trumps case, if what we have been told is accurate, would suggest he has the real McCoy. -

We live in interesting times. What is often overlooked is what is meant by "testing positive" for the virus and this has not been clarified in Trumps case. If the diagnosis has been made on a RT-PCR test of a nasopharyngeal swab this means viral RNA has been detected but doesn't tell us if this simply means fragments of RNA are present, or if he has whole virus present which would confirm active infection. The assumption made is if symptoms are present along with a positive test then covid-19 virus is the cause which may or may not be the case but the clinical behaviour will reveal if the assumption is valid. Culturing the virus is the acid test but this takes time to perform, and antibodies which are also confirmatory do not develop until 1-2 weeks after infection begins. -

Of course that everything stated above is rather pointless if your intention by using the word Mind with capital letter was to refer to a certain meta concept of mind. Please clarify. By the way, I am thrilled to hear how did you experience Brahman. Yours, Batman I like this post. Something I have noted which relates to the quote within the quote- the infant lacks language as the absent mind faculty. If you pay very very close attention you can discern that the voice in your head which we typically label as "thought" is associated with micro-movements of the tongue (and also the vocal apparatus-but this is harder to detect) which are a miniaturised version of the corresponding movements which are made when the "thought words" are uttered aloud. This becomes much more apparent if you think the words, then think them again with the tip of the tongue opposed to the roof of the mouth, and then think them once further with the tip of the tongue protruding between ones lips- you can note a subtle but clear difference between how the thought "sounds" between these 3 states. It would seem that this component of mind only exists because we are kind of mumbling to ourselves constantly. This may also explain how trying to anticipate ones next thought can produce a period of absent mind chatter, until one starts mumbling to one self again. -

Thanks for clearing that up. That explains why I pissed the bed this morning. -

Psychedelics are mis-represented on this forum; their utility is unquestionable but is not unlimited. IME, DMT confirms ideas about eyes and the theory of visual perception are way of the mark when it comes to "seeing", and 5 MeO DMT confirms that the self is an activity. This is at breakthrough and full release doses respectively. Anything more than that is unwarranted conceptualisation and presents significant risks of misleading. -

When @Nahm 's posts have you no longer thinking "WTF is this guy on about?" -
DMT HCl? You have no idea what you are talking about. DMT HCl is not stable in solution. This is the reason why DMT Fumarate is the preferred prep for IVing, as per the Strassman trial and more recent work at UCL.

If you needed 3 inhalations to have the full release then your technique needs work; the freebase oil pipe is very variable in how it delivers unless you are very proficient in its use, whilst being alert to the fact that different freebases behave very differently in the pipe. 20mg is a very heavy dose to casually suggest to another; should it be the case that the person you suggested this dose to was to have a "lucky" (or unlucky) blast and got the 20mg in one breath they would probably not thank you for it. It could be at best just a whiteout, or at worst a very damaging experience. This site is too casual in some of the advice given when it comes to psychedelics. Harm reduction seems low in its list of priorities.
-
Dangerous advice- this ^^ is in response to someone using an oil burner pipe to smoke freebase 5 MeO DMT. People have been seriously mentally traumatised by 20mg vaporized properly. 20mg IF vaporized optimally would be less than one full inhalation for most people. Maybe working on ones vaporization technique would be better for ones mental state and stash, rather than half-assing it as per the above advice.

Again, you are defining; but you know that, right? This forum is entertaining. -

Is the 5 MeO DMT "experience" enlightenment, or is it enlightenment as defined by Leo? You have only the stories of the Buddha to derive any conclusions from, don't you? I do agree though- Neo Advaitans present a disingenuous picture. -

My wording was "as subjectively real", not "more realistic". Your question implies only 2 possibilities. There are IME certain factors which have a bearing on the experience- these include dosage, rate of delivery, whether one has music playing, what ones intention for tripping is, and any subtle expectations. What unfolds can have a coherence which makes sense at the time ie some constancy with "sensible" evolution. At higher dosages this breaks down and it becomes incoherent yet not abstract/trippy-visualesque at all- one gets short-lived flashes of ultra-HD images which are like 4K photos of the real world and can be of the most mundane subject matter, yet are utterly immersive. 45mg of DMT using a convection device if taken in one breath will produce this kind of effect. This is potentially very traumatic and not recommended, and also should cause one to raise ones eyebrows when reading reports of DMT trips of 40+mg which discuss insights and the like. Poor technique would be the explanation. -
Thank goodness someone made this qualification.

A breakthrough dose of vaporized DMT will result in the construction of a world more intricate but as subjectively real as the world we usually inhabit, even with eyes closed. The metaphysical implications of this are intriguing but remain speculative. -

Insights in the immediate post-trip integration phase could be described as rambling, incoherent or shocking. Others failure to understand should not be an issue if these are "Truth" and thus irrefutable. Have faith in your capacity to convey, and perhaps credit the listeners a bit more. Wouldn't it be more accurate to say "I don't put much stock any more in the reports of the awakenings of other teachers/humans" because the stock is based on reports only? Your access is thus limited, is it not? To conclude "childs play" on this basis? Hmmm. Seeing things- lots of people have seen things and very likely more so than Leo, but they don't make a living out of deriving conclusions which may or may not be accurate, or complete, from whats been seen. But credit where its due- a fine business model undoubtedly. As in all things being offered, discernment needs cultivating or wishful thinking will reign. -
Work on your snorting technique. The drip suggests you are inhaling with too much enthusiasm.

I personally do not find it to be that bad at all. The discomfort does however last longer than a few seconds; I would describe it as similar to inadvertently getting some white pepper powder up the nose.

No but I am a qualified physician with a particular interest in neurology. Alpha and beta waves on the EEG refer to the frequencies of the spikes on the trace in terms of Herz and have nothing to do with alpha and beta in the way that Elliot Hulse uses them. There is no correlation whatever. -

You assume more than perhaps you care to admit. Could you perhaps be assuming that it is possible to communicate, in language, and in a "linear" fashion (ie the minds operating system) that which cannot be communicated? If it was possible to do so, then we wouldn't need to do any work, or psychedelics would we? And we could all go home awakened. Also note, for what it is worth, the utterance "x is imaginary" only became a thing in the threads in this forum after Leos use of the phrase. It could be right, or not, but note how attachments to the phrase have developed. This work requires one to be grounded and to experience how the mind will seize on to these while denying it is doing so. -

Perhaps qualifying this statement with "in your experience" might make it reasonable. So is imagining a necessity, and what makes it so?
