I wish him well. POTS generally is a pretty mild condition. This is the diagnosis Jeff has declared. There are however a number of conditions of autonomic dysfunction which are progressive and really unpleasant. None of us have access to his medical notes to know fully what the situation is.

If you are consuming 20mg in 5 aliquots of 4mg then despite what is believed, one is not really getting anywhere close to what DMT offers/delivers. Feeling like insanity is not being (choose descriptor), and the gap between feeling and being is a gulf too wide to describe. This mode of use may also explain the absence of visuals in Leos case, and to surmise a personal immunity to this facet of the DMT experience without having blasted a full dose could lead to a false belief/assumption.

Using multiple screens was the issue. It is no hassle to actually do a little research into how to get the best out of the device; the info is not hidden. Oil pipe I assure you is vastly inferior to a properly set-up Vaporgenie. Your conception of "just fine" is selling yourself, and the experience, short.
-
Your experience is just that; it also runs contrary to that of many who have used both. Again, many would disagree with this. And you have quantified this, rather than based this on a visual inspection? Could this relate to your set-up in some way? I wonder if when you used the Vaporgenie you may have used multiple steel screens rather than a disc of copper mesh, or steel wool, to rest the DMT on. This massively reduces the efficiency and increases deposition along the glass body, and, sincerely, I would suggest revisiting this device with a more efficacious bed as mentioned before giving it up as a bad job.

If ones lungs are stinging then the vaporization is sub-optimal. And this is typical if the vaporization is via conduction (as with an oil pipe) rather than convection (eg Sherlock Vaporgenie). Ones inhale technique is important but this presupposes that the vaporization is as good as can be because vapor that stings the lungs will affect aspects of the inhalation process. A single deep inhale can give a breakthrough with ease with an appropriate device without having to hold it in till you are gasping.

I wonder why you selected the term psychosis as a descriptor. What does the term actually mean to you? For someone dead inside, imagining running to find help seems a little paradoxical, no? -

Under the tongue= sub-lingual route. Between outer aspect of the gum apposed to the inner cheek or inner aspect of the lip= buccal route. There are reports of the hydrochloride salt of 5 MeO DMT being effective sublingually; @outlandish 's reasoning is sound and buccal application would perhaps work better for the reason cited. Expect to need to use more milligrams to exert the required effect. -

If "I" don't "exist", then to whom could mind possibly belong? -
Corpus replied to Onecirrus's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
The OP framed his question of "mind" with reference to thoughts and concepts, and my reply was geared towards that. To perhaps equate "that which completes jigsaws sans inner dialogue" as being "mind" is still conceptualising of a more subtle nature, which again, as per the above, pre-supposes a mind. Once language is established, "mind" follows. Perhaps mind could be considered as immanent Intelligence? -
Corpus replied to Onecirrus's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Mind is a concept , a linguistic construct, used to signify the source of, or repository for, the very same linguistic conceptualising. If you had no inner dialogue then the concept would be redundant. In a very real sense, mind does not exist. -

Substitute the bracketed bits ( brackets added by me) and insert the notions of "acting" or "enacting the law" and you have policing as we know it. It is an assumption-heavy process enacted through an inherently fear-driven and judgemental prism. -

It is all to easy to get hung up on the word illusion which has connotations to each of us who reads the word. Perhaps consider it to allude to space as not what it seems. We have confused ideas of what space is eg some may view it as the distance between objects, others may also include an idea beyond this which considers objects as also occupying space, and yet others may consider it as that which, in "opposition" to these 2 views, is that which "holds" objects and actually serves to join these rather than separate them. However one views it the notion of space acts as a context for objects to appear within ones visual field, and what if space were considered to be akin to a transparent object which permeates all objects so completely that space and objects were not different? If space is truly infinite then how can objects appear as distinctions within it? When someone meditates and stills the chattering mind, and a "sense of infinite space" is apparent, could this be a conceptual mimic of what is a confused evaluation of ones visual perceptual field? Space is not what it seems. -

The categorization of hard vs "not hard" drugs overlooks a key aspect and that is the frequency of use, and this in turn is determined by ones maturity, knowledge and ability to exercise restraint. These 3 factors are separate from and not beholden to the pharmacology of any substance. There is a very small and discrete population out there who for example derive significant pleasure and benefit from using opiates in a measured and controlled fashion for years and yet do keep this activity very hush-hush because the overwhelming majority of people cannot accept nor comprehend that this is possible. Hence the distinction of hardness is applied to such agents as a "democratic" bestowal because the majority of users are unable to have a productive relationship with them. In terms of "consciousness expansion", a loaded term with much baggage, would the loosening of the up-tight and self-absorbed reactionary self by an opiate such that the user feels complete, generous and utterly at ease for the first time in their life not be a form of consciousness expansion? The problem seed is sown when the desire to again experience this utter fulfilment (which does not necessarily render functioning a challenge as with a psychedelic) is pursued the next day... and the day after..... -

Hajj by definition is an obligatory visit to Mecca; Medina is optional. The Shiites depicted above are not in Mecca, ergo the picture is not of Hajj. -

Did Muhammad leave clear instructions about who his successor was to be, and if he did, how can we know what the instructions were? Would this be found in the 6 collections of "authentic" hadiths, which were compiled as collections many years after the Prophet passed away, if one is identifying as a Sunni? How reliable are these collections especially when you consider that Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim were compiled by persons whose first language wasn't even Arabic? Would a wise leader omit to leave instructions about his succession? The Quran says nothing about which of the 4 companions was to succeed the Prophet at all. Islam tends to confer authority for textual interpretation to the scholars and frowns upon one making ones own analysis of the texts (which in terms of Hadith were compiled decades after the events they refer to, making them requiring of questioning); it is interesting to note that it is these same Hadiths which largely state and dictate the need to refer to scholarly interpretation which creates a blind-loop of sorts. The Hadiths, if one does adhere to them, also state categorically that calling one who calls themselves Muslim a Non-Muslim (ie takfir) is again something the scholar only is qualified to do, and not the layman; in fact the layman risks becoming a kafir by making unqualified takfir. It is interesting how naming a thing and identifying with it produces a conceptual reality with consequences of action and belief made manifest in this worldly experience. -

Isn't this kind of happiness the kind which is conditional? This kind does "have a direction", namely predicated on getting, an event typically imagined to come to fruition at some future point. The homeless hungry person might feel that the prospect of a meal and shelter for tonight will make them happy but in his/her case and that of the other whose new yacht has just been delivered, is the experience of happiness for each the same? Perhaps the thing which unites both experiences is a sense of relief from the discomforting force which propels them towards that which will bestow happiness. An alleviation of a kind of pain. Both pertain to survival- the hungry chap is motivated by survival at a "physical level" and the proud yacht-owners survival needs are more conceptual in origin. The hedonic treadmill is all too common but not inevitable. How one approaches money attitudinally depends on multiple factors including the instruction provided by ones parents, both overtly and subtly, which will depend on their history and life experiences. -

The report is slightly misleading I suspect; the culture of the guys blood would most likely not have grown a Psilocybe species. More probable is something like Aspergillus, a fungus which contaminates many things including mushrooms. Drug abuse is bad people; another example would be snorting cannabis resin. That is abuse! -
@fictional_character Thanks! Great stuff.

If one inhibits MAOI and then takes psilocybin mushrooms the result is intensification, prolongation and a qualitative change in the nature of the experience, compared to just taking the same amount of mushrooms alone. This combination is named Psilohuasca and IMO/E goes very deep indeed. One needs to carefully determine how much to amend the weight/dosage of mushrooms used. One one occasion I drank a "tea" made with Peganum Harmala (Syrian Rue) followed 30 minutes later by eating 5g of dried P Cubensis "Golden Teachers", and that was very impressive with a trajectory similar to LSD in terms of duration. Visually it was closer to a stout dose of ayahuasca than mushrooms alone. Be careful if attempting this as it is pretty easy to inadvertently overshoot and get into some very turbulent waters. -

On hearing such symptoms, a neurologist would consider RBD (REM Sleep Behavioural Disorder) and would seek more details of the history, including from those around the sufferer. Spirituality is one perspective; other more practical ones (as applied to this case) also exist. If further history-taking suggested RBD then a PSG (polysomnograph) with EEG and surface-EMG would be useful, +/- other tests. Horses for courses as an aphorism springs to mind. -

I agree with this. How do I change my user-name from Corpus to Tortellini? Again, we have the vagaries of language at work. Nazi as a term can be considered in so many different ways, and that associated with Hitler did not arise de novo, or in a vacuum. There are surrounding world events which shaped its arising including WWI and its triggers/consequences, the havoc and misery the German citizens bore during the Weimar Republic days, communism evolving and getting stronger within Germany and Soviet Russia etc etc. Once Hitler ascended to power there would be clear benefits and practical hindrances which would come with being or not being a Nazi (eg paid-up card-carrying member of the Party, barriers to material survival if one declined an invite to join or had personal objections to signing up) so the whole issue of "Nazi" has many contributors/facets to it. National Socialism (and more derogatorily "Nazi") was the applied label but much of the belief system associated with it actually predated the formation of the party in 1920; two contributors to its under-pinning dogma were Friedrich Naumann who was left-leaning, and Theodor Fritsch who was much more right-wing; these guys were active even before WWI and the German defeat which is "blamed" in part for Nazism. Stuff is always more complicated than it looks. -
Agreed. But the discussion revolves around the notion of "experiencing Infinity" with psychedelics, not enlightenment and content. And that is probably why enlightened people who are not in the business of the business of enlightenment won't likely go around saying they are Infinite, or Infinite Consciousness so much. As linguistic referents they cannot refer directly to that which they claim to represent. Rupert, bless him, is in the business so it comes with that territory he has marked out for himself. This makes no comment on his motivations but most want a quick route, be it being taught or psychedelics. Neither of which do the job as well as doing the work but undoubtedly psychedelics can facilitate the process.

Could it be that conceptual understanding can never be utterly complete/concluded as the creative nature of conceptualization will always create new distinctions and thus more that can be conceptually understood or considered? Could truly realizing the bottomless nature of the activity allow one to slow down the desire for/pursuit of more of the same, leading by default to greater embodiment/Being rather than feeling that embodiment will arise when "I just get this last bit figured out"? Maybe Nahm could add a few words to put a glitch in this ^^ conceptualizing?!!
