@Scholar Yes, shellfish are golden, they are even more nutritious than ruminant animal muscle meat, contain most if not all the nutrients that plants do not and are not "fed" anything as they are filter feeders, they take in nutrients from the surrounding seawater. I think shellfish solve many of the drawbacks of strict vegan diets. That slate article is interesting but clearly biased and funded by the Kellog foundation, as in breakfast cereals... Were the great plains of the U.S a healthier ecosystem before or after we exterminated millions of bison along with their natural predators and replaced it with corn, soy and wheat? I more than anyone I know personally have laboured under the emotionally taxing process of challenging my worldview and open-mindedly considering disparate opinions. But of course I can't post all of the resources I have considered on this forum right now, that would be asking people to drink from an information firehose, I dont point to these videos as conclusive proof of anything but rather neat and tidy packets of information for us to discuss here. @Nivsch in my OP I mention that CAFO feed lot operations are pure devilry but if you look into the work of Joel Salatin you'll find that his methods are on a pound for pound basis as productive as those industrial farms whilst mimicking nature, moving the animals with seasonal rhythyms the way that predators naturally drive movements of herds. It's really quite elegant how he does things. I realize the extent of damage that has been done to the environment by man, but if our species is to persist we will have to do something about it and whatever that is will be inherently unnatural. It seems there isnt any going "back to nature" at this stage anyway. Ideally we should all just die so the planet can regulate itself properly again. -

I certainly have, I think it is one the most useful models of all time -

but what if animal agriculture was a key way to solve climate change? What would you then do with those animals? Not allow humans to eat them? Also not sure if you're aware but none of the plant foods you see in the grocery store are natural. -

Exactly my point! You just havent been exposed to differing viewpoints on this subject, we're all aware of paradigm lock within the domain of science arent we? I can't argue much with you on the animal rights thing omnivores do experience deficiencies due to several factors, the animals they eat are not raised on their natural diets and environments in addition to dishonoring the animal by throwing away 80% of it and only consuming the muscle meat. my direct experience plus the fact that im a caucasian person who's ancestors evolved in a northern latitude tells me I cannot be healthy without eating animals. -

consuming the milk of another species seems very unnatural as well, so it makes sense humans didnt evolve to digest it properly. I'm sure all monied interest are using devilish tactics to further themselves including the dairy lobby, I also invite you to consider the profit margins that are made on wheat and other plant food commodities on the backs of immigrant slaves and then shipped halfway around the world. -

it's been well established that humans evolved under nomadic conditions, we werent even growing crops at that time, there was access to plant foods sparingly and in season only. Usually people who go on such an "extreme" all meat diet are people who have long been trying to heal themselves, they usually arent people who get suddenly awakened from their SAD diet and go carnivore, generally they already ARE vegan. They do it as a last resort when they realize veganism doesnt work. Be careful with thinking you dont need supplements, plants do not contain several ESSENTIAL nutrients, meaning you must obtain them from diet because the body does not endogenously produce them. EPA DHA, vitamin D, vitamin A in the usable form of retinol, vitamin K2, all amino acids in optimal amounts from a single source the list goes on... not to mention all the plant defense chemicals that can trigger auto-immunity if you dont have specific gut bacteria to predigest and nuetralize them oxalates, salicylates, lectins flavonoids and oxidants etc btw anti-oxidants do not directly lower oxidative stress aside from vitamins E and C, they are actually pro-oxidant toxic stressors that trigger an upregulation of the bodies master anti-oxidant glutathione and by this mechanism overall can help. but there is a sweet spot with this that is easy to overwhelm, the dose makes the poison. Plants want to live too, just like animals, they just cant run away so they'll poison you. ever notice how every plant food has a long list of supposed health benefits or actions on the body etc? this is becasue they are chiefly medicine, but nobody goes taking every pill in the pharmacy and expects to be healthy. Does anyone seriously believe that it was necessary for human beings to consume plant foods to be healthy as they evolved given the necessity of surviving winters??? And for all of you who point to gorillas and massive ruminant animals as an example I encourage you to go into a field and live off of grass and leaves, im sure you'll be fine. -

my main issue with veganism is that it could potentially ruin the health of some people who go down that road. but thats not the thrust of my post. Individuals who care deeply about these issues are likely to be vegan, those individuals have power to make an impact in the world so it is important that they are as circumspect as possible when deciding how to proceed. -

i didnt think i was concealing any indignation lol. It is interesting that you read it multiple times and didnt see through your own cognitive bias. Genuinely not a dig at you at all, just think that is a great example. I'm not interested in debating anyone, rather prompting people to question their OWN paradigms like you say. Isn't that what leo does? Otherwise this fabulous forum will just become an echo chamber of people "supporting" each other. But here we go not discussing the issue at hand and this thread is kind of devolving. -
montecristo replied to montecristo's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
all we have to go on here are assumptions if you are being honest with yourself. And I do worry about my own paradigm, I constantly question it but you telling me to not worry about other people's paradigm is shutting down civil discourse, so why are any of us on this subforum posting about societal issues then? -

reread the second sentence in my post more carefully, talk about cognitive biases jeez... care to expound on this? I have carefully considered all sides of the issue, also not claiming to have all the answers here as I have no direct experience with the environmental matters, im just encouraging more open-mindedness within these paradigms and beliefs. Because if we practice radical honesty we will realize that all of this without direct experience are made entirely of beliefs and hearsay. -

I'm no chemist so I cant say for sure, but my instinct is to always be suspicious of man made anything. It seems that since the dawn of humanity every perceived solution has only multiplied our problems -

Although money matters within the current paradigm it isnt fundamentally real the way that wealth is. More important to focus on resource management instead of shapes on a screen management -

LOL, i just logged in here to post this video and make the same exact statement. I think this is a very nice technical explication of Leo's "Mankind is the Bullshitting Animal" video. Rebel wisdom along with Jamie Wheal have been great resources to dovetail with what Leo has been talking about I've found. -
I'm wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this thing I would characterize as a kundalini machine called the Theraphi. I want to give my "trip report" with it for everyone. It somehow draws on some of Nicola Tesla's work to produce what they refer to as a neg-entropic energy field and it's amazing! So the session I had was 2 20 minute intervals with a 10-minute break in between because the bulbs need to cool. All you do is lay down. If you watch the video you'll see that they take a fluorescent bulb and it turns on while it is floating in mid-air between the bulbs, I saw this demonstrated in front of me and was blown away by it. What really shocked me was that as soon as the machine was turned on I could feel third eye burning and pulsing kundalini of unprecedented palpaability. It appeared immediately each time the machine was turned on and dissipated immediately each time it was turned off! I also could feel my brain waves shifting several times throughout the experience, it seemed to induce alpha waves subjectively, these among a few other more subtle effects. Trying this has given me massive validation for my kriya practice knowing how far the normal kriya sensations can be amplified with this technology. You guys should do some research on this and try out a session probably $80 if you can find one, I did it in LA. Btw Leo, instead of buying a lambo this would be a neat way to blow some dough, I think they go for like $25k

gratitude is the best performance enhancer I've found. give me situation and I will be able to find a reason gratitude enhances your ability to achieve the outcome you want.

touche! But I think there would be merit in trojan horsing concepts about spirituality and the absolute into these highly secular therapeutic environments. Using the underlying logic of it to start opening people up -
You can say it's always now, because we never experience reality any other way but right now. but where does the past exist? certainly it's still acting on the present in the most intimate way. the past must exist, dictating the now. the future is inevitable exactly the way it will happen to unfold. they can't be any place but now... but?

this is great I totally agree. It seems that conventional therapy is just beating around the bush. Playing with emotions and trying to augment behaviors meanwhile totally overlooking spirituality. If they helped people to become conscious of even some small aspects of the absolute like this example here it would go a heck of a long way. -

@Joseph Maynor So this is saying that we assume we are discovering the causal chain instead of constructing it, right? To bring some present reality to the past I often think about how the light given off by any given event is theoretically observable right now somewhere. If one could somehow apparate to a point 3000 light years away, with a powerful enough telescope they could watch history 3000 years ago play out in real time. but that begs the question, how do you draw a distinction between the light coming off of something and the thing itself?
