I think this goes along with life purpose. A monastic living, in any belief system, is only something the most dedicated followers undertake. It’s not something to dabble in with the hopes of waking up eventually. So, it is certainly a viable method for ardent believers of Christianity, but only brings suffering for those who aren’t.

If it’s something you’re passionate about, don’t second guess yourself and overthink. Live your life. Experience things.

Friendly banter between coworkers can be misconstrued as mean-spirited and disparaging by the receiving party. Are you certain it was meant to be offensive? I can understand being in a bad place mentally and not being receptive to their humor, it has happened to me also. But there aren’t many people who would take pleasure in kicking someone when they’re already down.

Location, location, location. Cost of living in all the places shown in the OP is much higher than most of America. I have little doubt some of those homeless people could live well elsewhere.

It sounds creepy superficially, yes. There’s nothing saying that two people with an age gap such as that can’t have some deep connection.

The value is all make-believe anyway. If people all around the world unanimously decided that the US dollar is worthless and to invest elsewhere, it would be worthless. We keep printing more money and going farther into debt because of the level of confidence that it won’t happen. There’s no limit as long as people agree to it.

How many acres of wind and solar farms would it take to replace the power generation of 1 nuclear facility that occupies about the same space as a Wal-Mart or Costco? It would probably rival the size of some big cities. All forms of power generation need to be well-maintained to stay efficient, and I’d rather maintain a Wal-Mart than a city. Also, the nuclear facility doesn’t rely on the weather at any given moment.

That’s just, like...your opinion, man. I’ve had this internal struggle myself where I am demonstrably more self-aware, less destructive, and live a simpler life than many people around me. If I point this out to them and give myself an appearance of superiority, would that be helpful in any way? I doubt it. But it’s hard to resist sometimes. It’s just ego trying to hijack the concept of consciousness for its own gain.
