  1. Dont watch this if you're depressed to begin with.
  2. @Joseph Maynor If allowed the use of imaginative conjecture. - I'm thinking the embodiment of not caring overrides it mostly.
  3. @DrewNows Because you have the same major influence of Essence type as me. Congradulations! ??‍♂️You're a Saturn type mixed with another type of Essence,,,,? Essence characteristics we can't change. We can take the sharp edges off it though. It's the other part of our nature - personality- or ego/false personality where change can be effected. I say this to give a frame of reference to this concept out of the Fourth Way. It's not true unless you can apply it and it's useful for you,,,, Below is a quote from a good book on Essence (Endocrine) types which elaborates my foolishness. I extracted and pasted the sentence description within the paragraph of Saturns, just below. Take heart, Abraham Lincoln was a Saturn type. "If we are Saturns we cannot stop trying to control others always for their own good--- no matter how strenuously they object When we are able to recognize types and predict the characteristic reactions, we find that this information is liberating, both as it applies to ourselves and as it helps us to understand others. Once we know that virtually all limitations, weakness and shortcomings are not things for which we can be blamed, most of us feel the lifting of guilt that we have carried for most of our lives. If we are Lunars we cannot be outgoing and emotionally demonstrative, no matter how much others urge us to be and how much we may want to please them. If we are Saturns we cannot stop trying to control others--- always for their own good--- no matter how strenuously they object. If we are Venusians we cannot be aggressively ambitious no matter how much our mothers want us to be and how much we may love our mothers. If we are an emotionally centered mercurial and find it impossible to engage in repetitive tasks day after day, word processing in an isolated cubicle, or putting shingles on roofs, then we should begin to understand how hard it is for a moving centered Martial to experience his own emotions, much less express them effectively. ,,,,,
  4. A memorable quote from Ken Wilber's 10 cd set Kosmic Consciousness -- "Here in the relative world. If you're in a bar and you see Hitler and you happen to have a baseball bat,,,, whack the boy!"
  5. YEAH!! That's rich! To me, that's a good example of what's referred to as the state of Self Remembering in the Fourth Way. Or it sounds like it to me. There's an actual feel of more awareness and presence. Self Remembering with a capital S. ?
  6. @Joseph Maynor Thanks for chiming in. I feel the forum would be more balanced if we could all be a little more confessional of our weak spots. With hopefully a more mindful and spacious atmosphere developing. Where just the confession of a shortcoming is allowed to sit in quiet with some kind of subtle acknowledgements from others who are also doing the Work. @Hellspeed So true.
  7. @MsNobody I like the quote. It speaks of finer energies. I also feel the truth of it. The need to be right all the time. This relentless tendency of mine I've observed in my Inquiry. My sanity has been helped by the discovery in the relief that's always there to be had by a return to beginners mind,,,,, In spite of that I still 'forget' and catch myself too late. It's a slow build, for me.
  8. @LastThursday I love what you articulated here! I took it as pointing towards the integration of our multiplicity, culminating in what some traditions call the Pearl beyond Price. A richly diverse Being. Not just Enlightened, but also Realized. Your post made me think of Jean Hustons last talk at the SAND conference. In it she speaks of us being "myriad minded" It starts slow but she ends it with some inspirational thunder,,,
  9. @seeking_brilliance From the Gospel of Thomas. lo·gi·on /ˈlōɡēˌän,-jē-/ noun a saying attributed to Jesus Christ, especially one not recorded in the canonical Gospels.
  10. @Aakash Hurray for you man! I get identified with something and stumble all the time. The idea that in Actualizing or becoming realized or enlightened, that it's a one time threshold to be crossed, needs to be dispelled. There needs to be more of this kind of confessional stuff here on the forum. This is REAL work and when someone is honest and brave enough to share something unflattering about themselves, the last thing they need is to be talked down to. Thank You!!! ??
  11. @Bill W My harsh criticism above about belief equaling imagination wasn't aimed at you. What I've always referred to as holding things in an 'as if category', in spirit, aligns closely with your comments on faith and belief. The topic I started yesterday on one's need to be right in discussions with others hasn't been very popular along with other topics of that nature in the recent past. It seems just about any honest, unflattering, self observation here on the forum gets met more often with subtle if not blatant condescension and being talked down to and unsolicited advice that often doesn't even apply, in addition to intellectual one-upsmanship, complaining, emoting, pissing contests, platitudes, self congratulatory qualifying remarks and all the rest of it as Maurice Nicoll would say. ? Yes, I'm guilty of all that stuff to at times when I become identified. ??‍♂️ @Shin Jesus is my brother and friend. Jesus is just alright with meee, Mannnnn
  12. This is a paraphrasing of Logion 102 from the Gospel of Thomas when the Pharisees were the fundamentalists of the day. In esoteric Christianity, the references about the Pharisees in the parables applies to everyone. We all have an 'inner Pharisee' in ourselves to overcome who are sure of themselves in unknowing blind belief (imagination). This is a part of Awakening, dying to old self and rebirth. A dying to our old selves who are legion (many i's) and trapped in polarity consciousness and interprets the scriptures literally that kill the Word, the Spirit. Christ pointing to what we refer to as nondual being.
  13. @LastThursday Maybe like a contrarian investor?
  14. In the Gospel of Thomas Jesus said, "Don't worry too much what the outside of the cup looks like, You only drink what's inside." "Do not let fundamentalists come between you and God's love. They are like dog's guarding a cow's trough. They protect food they don't eat from animals that are starving."
  15. 6-13-2019 21. Biting Through From the text- "It is favorable to exercise judgement" councils a person to consciously affirm his inner feeling of disharmony by saying the inner No to that which is causing it, or to add his assent as a conscious inner Yes to that which is harmonious. By exercising judgement in this way he aligns himself with the Cosmic Way.
  16. From hexagram 27 that I got this morning. Actually yesterday morning. -- The Sage uses this theme of nourishment to refer to what is taken in as food, and metaphorically, to what is taken into the psyche as thoughts, ideas, and beliefs. The Sage distinguishes between what nourishes the True Self and what feeds the ego. What nourishes the True Self adds to the person's existing supply of chi energy.( lifeforce and will to live), whereas what feeds the ego robs him of chi. All thoughts, ideas, and beliefs, affect our whole being. Thoughts that are not in harmony with Cosmic Truth do so in two ways: first, they negatively affect our ability to receive the chi we need from the Cosmos, and second, they affect how we utilize food and drink.
  17. When i become identified strongly about something, I forget myself. A conscious politician would not identify and would be at an advantage over a semi-conscious reactive opponent, who relies on handlers and P. R. Experts to keep them out of trouble.
  18. That makes sense. Relating to the playing card symbolism of Alchemy, deliberateness in speech and movement is a sign of being in the center of gravity of the Kings of Spades and Diamonds. When I'm in Witness Consciousness and well rested my posture is a lot straighter, shoulders layed back, breathing belly breaths. Not just me,,, anybody,, or most people experience this slight change in posture. I thought of this when you told the story of the guys who were triggered somehow when you walked by. Also you being in a balanced and relaxed state set you apart from other people on the street, possibly. Oh, I forgot you said you looked at them also. I pictured their painbodies recoiling from seeing a smile and then lashing out. Angry suffering people have to keep finding new things to feed on and projecting something onto someone else happens mechanically, it seems. I was verbally assaulted in a similar way while doing a slow meditative walk on the grounds of a big hospital a few years ago. You we're trying to remember Abraham Maslow's name I think. From green to yellow in the shift from first tier to second tier it seems that the capacity to Witness becomes a lot more pronounced here,,,
  19. There's a story, purportedly true, of a school board in the heart of the Tennessee Bible Belt wrestling with whether or not to institute a foreign language curriculum in its high school. After heated discussion, the debate was finally brought to an end when one of its board members stood up and said, "No Way! If English was good enough for Jesus Christ, it's good enough for my son" This is from near the beginning of Cynthia Bourgeault's THE WISDOM JESUS. @mandyjw I think you would love this book. @Bill W also since you've each expressed a renewed interest in Christianity and the Bible. For me it articulates the divide in Fundamentalist Christianity as well as an introduction to a contemplative Christianity which many are unaware of and has authentic lineage. Talk about effecting a large portion of US voters. It stands Fundamentalism on its head. If it only could be delivered in such a way in which these church goers who vote for Trump had "ears to hear",,,,
  20. @jbram2002 Even though I sincerely take what Leo says in an overall way, differently than you. I respect what you say. ?
  21. To go fully into disco requires the full participation of my Idiot. One of the more reclusive members of this ship's crew is a real John Travolta. The other crew for the most part just shake their head at this guy. He annoys them outwardly but inside of themselves, truth be known, he scares the shit out of them.
  22. I too have a very addiction-prone personality. Although less in severity than alcohol and cigarettes, drinking Dr Pepper was a very long running one. Hallucinogenics are not appealing to me in the way of being addictive. In the past, I was often doing other substances along with them with my party boy personality. This created a little twist/blindspot in my perspective at times. My one experience with dmt nearly two years ago was anything but pleasant. One lsd trip in my teens was extremely traumatizing. I don't view Leo's partial focus on psychedelics as addictive at all but an alternative approach to accelerated growth. I've really done a disservice to the community here in having a party boy attitude regarding psychedelics in the last 3 or 4 months. Although I still value lightheartedness, I'm going to try to cut out the party boy attitude. I'm making arrangements to have a nn dmt trip in about 2 weeks from now.
  23. 6-12-2019 24. Returning. Line 6 27. Nourishing Council from the 6th line of hexagram 24 -- ,,,,,,,,This line can refer to the fate created when a person adopts the self image of being noblehearted. Such a person is trying to "be like God", whom he believes to possess unconditional Love, which he interprets as overlooking and tolerating ego-behavior. He does not see that this self image has put a spell and lock on all his senses of discernment. The Sage makes us aware of the Cosmic Consciousness, the source of all love, retreats in the presence of the ego, and withholds love so long as the ego is present, and in this way draws the person back to his true self. Practicing unconditional love creates one fate after another --- the disaster mentioned.,,,,,,,
