  1. @ZaneI made such a list last year. Worked for me as well. I am happy that you found the method 12 years earlier than me!
  2. @Ryan_047 Hi Ryan, last year I really into the deepest of a depression. I had a strings of different jobs that seemingly have no connection. Every time after 3 years I had enough and quit. Next job. Something was missing every time. I started personal development 2 years ago and started the life purpose course a year ago. Trough the assessments and inner reflections, I really got to know myself. I had a lot of aha (eureka) moments. Some tests are so damn accurate that I shouted out from happiness "Fathermockers! that is a description of me, better than I could write it myself!" You will know when it is your passion when you feel fire burning inside, when you picture yourself doing it without getting money. Do the Life Purpose Course on Actualized.org! All of your questions will be answered in the course. In hindsight, I'd pay USD 10,000.- if I had it. If not, I would still be complaining my ass off. I am writing an autobiography for later just to remind me how I got there. Too long to post here...
  3. @Kimasxi Try the videos on Actualized.org > All videos > Confidence I suggest titles like: Self Confidence, How to Be Yourself, How to be more confident, and How to overcome Shyness. Or look for the video "how to be Funny". Remember that a lot of people are as shy as you and are really nice when you talk to them. They might have a unfriendly face, but just start a conversation and people will open up. People enjoy conversations. If they are rude to you, that is their problem and says nothing about you. Start a conversation on a superficial level: wheather, music, gas prices. Then you can go deeper along the way. Do not start a conversation with a stranger: "what do you think about enlightenment or lucid dreaming?" Success!
  4. CURACAO....Netherlands Antilles________ Any other Actualized castaway on this tiny island...? Or am I the only one...? (Originally from the Netherlands, but living on Curacao)
  5. @Nexeternity What's your next step? what is your life purpose now? Are you maintaining your current job? Switch careers? Become a life coach or spiritual teacher?
  6. @Sultan That is true. Whenever I feel resistance, I use both the knowledge in The Sedona Method as The Power of Now by Hale Dwoskin and Eckhart Tolle respectively. The message is essentially the same in this context. The techniques work perfectly. It is just that you have to DO it, not just READ it. It takes some practice before you get the hang of it. It took me a year to really see and feel the benefits. But I am a lazy soab so that's why it took me so long. Success!
  7. @actualized1 David Deida's book is the best (most practical and helpful, insightful) book I've read last year. I wish I had read it 15 years ago. I did not take notes on the book because I practically underlined every sentence in the book. I recommended it to a friend of mine and he said "I do not like books that manipulate women into sex". Boy was he not knowing what he was talking about. Way off.
  8. @Sultan One advice that might not resonate now: do not resist the resistance. It is okay to feel resistance. Welcome the resistance, allow it to be, observe it, don't try to push it away. That will only increase the resistance. There are also several good video's on this by Leo: Bad Habits, Understanding Resistance, How to stop Moralizing (to eliminate the 'shoulds' from your life), Awareness alone is curative, etc.
  9. @HereNowThisMoment Anything that provokes the mind or body but is physically harmless. Maybe you can try to listen to some music you really dislike. Or stare at a photograph of someone you dislike. Or a smell/smoke you dislike. I sit in a "bound angel pose" that stretches my crotch uncomfortably. Or heat up the room to an uncomfortable level. Or where people stare at you. Anything that makes you less comfortable. Success!
  10. @spicy_pickles Nice! Hearing that makes me happy!
  11. @spicy_pickles Seems you are having a (mild) depression. I think you should see a psychologist for it. I did. In hindsight the depression was the push in my back I needed to take action in my life. To stop, pause and question my life. It could not go on like that. Start watching Leo's videos, start meditating, read books, and remember; there is light at the end of the tunnel. When you're ready: do the Life Purpose Course.
  12. @LadyfaceLou I also find myself in the same situation you describe. But I want to watch out for "feeling superior" than others. Like Eckhart Tolle says, "people just act according to their level of consciousness". That is not to say that you can feel superior because you are more conscious. That would only be making your ego stronger. In those situations I just observe without criticizing, sometimes the person gets more conscious, and sometimes I find that the person remains super unconscious and I take action: that might be saying something or walking away. Sometimes walking away forever from this person.
  13. @Nexeternity I think it was Jed McKenna that wrote that Buddhism doesn't produce Buddhas. I am glad Actualized.org does! ;-)
  14. @Falk That is a good analogy. I can related to that. The mind is MF strong! Now what? go with the flow? or get out of the water and just watch the strong river go by?
  15. @Michael569 I usually sit in a bound angle pose. This is to stretch my crotch in training for the lotus position. The pain that comes with it I use it to focus. Focus on the pain. Dive into the pain as Shinzen Young explains in one of his video's. When I don't feel like having pain, I sit on a chair with my back straight. I think having your spine straight is most important to not fall asleep.
  16. @Electron Pleasure implies there is an opposite: pain. Enlightenment has no opposites. it is peace. Peace with what is. That is why I pursue enlightenment. The second reason for me personally is Truth; I want to know what is the Truth. But yes, on the other hand, you might want to promise your mind/ego some pleasure to convince it to commit suicide. Maybe that is comparable to Islamic promises (I am no way expert in that field BTW) that if you kill your Self, you will get some virgins in the end. Isn't that the promise of peace after your ego is annihilated? If so, it is completely misinterpreted by Islamic suicide bombers....
  17. @NicolasDo you mean you loose concentration and are falling asleep? What I do is I sit against the wall which keeps my back straight. I have my compleet back against the wall and my legs crossed and very close to my croch which creates a tension that keeps my back against the wall.
  18. @Tancrede Pouyat Hi Tancrede, thumbs up for following your dream. Your delivery is rather annoying to me, but that is just a personal opinion. I am sure there are people that appreciate your energetic and humorous delivery. But because of that, I haven't seen a lot of your video's. I DO want to say that I get the feeling you try to copy Leo. Maybe I am wrong and just haven't seen enough. But just watch out for that trap. Don't copy, develop your own style.
  19. @jakdawak What about becoming a real good musician, investing all of your time in it, then in ten years you will teach other 18 year olds how to follow their path? You teach them how to overcome anxiety, fears, lack of discipline, mastery, etc. You would be working in music, writing new songs and performing, and you will be a guide for youngsters becoming a top musician. So you will also be showing the students how the mind works, how to be persistent, teach them about deliberate practice. Teaching them the clarity on the means to their goals.
  20. @Black Flag What works for me is: Find out what your life purpose is. Set the goals. And with everything you do, keep your eyes on the ball (keep your goals in mind). Always remind yourself what the goal is then the strategic actions will naturally follow.
  21. Whenever I procrastinate, I try to break the task up into little pieces/steps. Then I say to myself that I only have to do the first part. Sometimes I really only do the first tiny part, but most of the time I do more pieces, once I am busy or complete the whole task. I find that the hardest part is to start. So if the first part is small, you are likely to convince your mind to start. Success!
  22. @JevinR I think your life purpose should be giving your gift to the world. Find out what your gift/talent is, then share it with the world. Donating money like you describe does not sound like giving your gift to the world, but merely giving money. People are better of when you give them education/coaching/inspiration/love/advice/knowledge and so further to make money on their own.
  23. @UtopiaX I suggest you finish the life purpose course AND read all the recommended books. Probably you will find out what is it you like in programming and what it is you like in writing. Either you will see that both options offer the thing you like, or you melt the two into one profession. I don't want to give away titles to persons who didn't purchase the LP course, but there is a book by RT titled DYP. That helped me a lot in finding out what I look for in a job. That made the choice easier. I also was pulled in two directions, so it seemed, but in hindsight I see that both professions share a common feature which I like. Just in a complete different field. Success!
  24. @electroBeam I regret not having done courses in the past that I liked just because back then I did not see a future (career) in them or I didn't do them because of lack of money. I studied something I saw a career in and finished it. After that I worked in that field for 7 years. Now I really know what I want and I wish I followed my feelings back then. So yes, follow that feeling. If you are unsure about your feelings: talk to psychology students. Go to the university, feel the ambiance. Take a look at the pshychology program. The schedule. Maybe read one or a few of the books of the first year. See if you really like it.
  25. @Obi berjaoui Hi Obi, I have been there also. In hindsight, I am very grateful for the valley I had to go trough. I started to think about life, what I really want, came in to contact with personal development, etc. I suggest you keep following Leo's video's and start reading the books from the recommended book list. Some are so inspiring that they change your whole view on life. At least for me they did. Success!
