  1. Thank you for this video! "Check if you yourself are contributing to injuring another being." "The Truth, the basic understanding is that we are one, love is our nature." "Each one of us (body and mind) has different proclivities to express this love."
  2. @Evilwave Heddy Hi. Look for persons that already do what you want to become. In a slightly other field (Rome) see Darius Arya; lecturer, consultant, archeologist, historian, tv-presenter, etc. etc. Multiple websites, face booker, twitter, instagram. Young and active. http://www.dariusarya.co Or see Michael Scott https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Scott_(author) also young and very active. Or old and active, Maarten Van Rossem: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maarten_van_Rossem a guest in a lot of talk shows, news programs, writer, has his own glossy. So, find your niche and use modern technology to display Ancient Egypt.
  3. Self inquiry meditation not care about what others think I should be doing
  4. @MarcusJ I assume you mean awareness/consciousness with 'higher self"? I absolutely don't know. Experiences just happen. Not any experience is wrong or good. Living and dying, happiness and sadness. All experiences. Only to an ego is an experience wrong or good. Awareness does not care, because it has no agenda. It is timeless, it will never die. Only the body and the ego can die. Why should awareness/consciousness care?
  5. @Matthew Lamot I know you don't like the idea of a thread about Advaita Vedanta, only to be forgotten in three hours. But I do it anyway. I read the document you linked to in your signature, but I miss some concrete steps to do. I am interested in learning more. What are some sites you can recommend to learn more? Any books you can recommend? Any Youtube video's you can recommend? Any meditation technique or self inquiry technique or question you can recommend? (There are no Advaita Vedanta teachers in my country)
  6. What names? What are the names of your teacher(s)? Other question; You mentioned in another post that "It works for me". How do you know it works? What "results" did you have? How do you measure progress? How do you know you are following the right teacher/teaching? What problems have been solved?
  7. @Naviy I got away from my toxic wife. I saved some money last year. I did the life purpose course. I am still not 100% sure of what to do. I am thinking about OR going on with my job and do more meditation in the hope my life purpose will come from within. The money I saved over the last year was to start my life purpose or do a course/education for that life purpose. But since I do not know it yet, I was also thinking about option 2: taking 2 months sabbatical and do a home meditation/vipasana retreat in the hope that my life purpose pops up from within.
  8. Today I did 55 minutes of strong determination sitting. The first 30 minutes I had a lot of thoughts. After that I began the self inquiry / neti-neti. I asked myself: "who am I?", "I am not my body, not the sounds I hear, not my breath, not my feelings, not my thoughts." "What am I when all this falls away?". Then at one moment I saw myself in an elevator shaft, hanging on to the ramp with one hand, clinging to it. A voice said: "let go. Just let go". I let go and what I felt was like an orgasm. It was a release. I fell down the shaft. Everything went black as I was falling down in this black hole. I felt a tinkling sensations in my whole body like an orgasm (not in the genitals btw). Mostly in my head and spine. But as I got emotional about this breakthrough sensation, I started thinking about it and then the effect stopped. Anyone had similar experiences?
  9. That is right. It was actually the day before yesterday that it happened and yesterday and today I was frustratingly trying to have the experience again, but the more I want, the further away it seems to drift. Only when I surrender the experience comes closer. But then when it comes closer I get excited and it drifts away..
  10. Before reacting to your reaction, I decided to read the pdf you so actively promote around the forum. I begin to think that you are a shareholder of the Shining world Corporation It is actually quit interesting, though I do not understand everything because it's not in my native language. But there were some passages that made me thinking like "After all, someone who strives for the experience of oneness does so because he or she holds an ‘intellectual’ conviction that experience is the only path to enlightenment." But on the other hand, don't you (Matthew) agree that an experience can be helpful? quote "And the ‘experience of non-duality’ gives a glimpse of the Self which can be an aid to understanding." And lastly, "The many seekers of self experience that eventually become disillusioned because they are unable to obtain a permanent experience of the self need to convert their quest for experience into a quest for understanding if they wish to free themselves from bondage to their attachment to experience...which prevents them from enlightenment."
  11. @Abhijeeth Leo has a lot of videos in meditation. Start at the beginners video's. Try it for at least 30 days and determine for yourself what works and what not. Also remember that it may take a year to even see positive results. The beginning of meditation can be frustrating, stressful, give you illess, sleepless nights, etc. It all depends on how much rubbish is in your 'attic'. Meditation is cleaning up the attic. If you have a lot of shit stored up there, don't be surprised to find some rotten corpses while cleaning up the attic.
  12. @Grue Welcome to the forum. I can't give you a good answer, but here is your first Reputation! Of course you are a soul which in this context is synonimous for awareness, consciousness, God, etc) At the same time, all these words are just labels and just pointers to what you really are. You CANNOT think about what you are. You can only be it. The label you give it... Soul, is just a label.. Ooops, I see now that I DID give an answer...
  13. @BHL_20 I think you could say that a fetus and a baby are enlightened. They see the world as one; non dual. But already whilst being a baby, grown ups are injecting the kid with duality: giving it a name, saying they are mom and that...labeling EVERYTHING around the kid. So from that moment on, the kid gets more and more separated from it's essential being. It sees itself as being separated from everything else. It thinks it is the ego. It has become an ego. This ego builts up and up, until you get enlightened.
  14. @Taavi I think I am in a similar position. I think that being more conscious, the life purpose will come more and more from within. It will be more authentic. Read the book on the recommended book list "D....... Y... L... P......" by R... T..... He explains your life purpose on a spiritual level. I found it very helpful.
  15. According to Rupert, it is the only purpose... (of course there are more levels of life purposes.. on the level of spirit and on the level of form)
  16. @Spiritjunkie Then look for other friends. Move to another city if you have to. But remember that friends cannot fill a void if you are feeling a void. You will have to fill the voids yourself. Friends can only be complementary... a cherry on the cake.
  17. @Eelco1981 The course works for everyone. In fact there is a whole section that explains that your life purpose is possible. If it is not possible, then it is not your life purpose (you will not become a professional basketball player if your height is 1 meter 50 cm or if you are over 70 years old). Education, money or social status never are an obstacle you can't take. You can move to another country, work your ass off, study your ass off.
  18. @Samuel Garcia It is very important that you choose your values based on what you feel, NOT based on what you THINK SHOULD be your values. Act according to your feelings. Your feelings might change over time and thus your values.
  19. @Aamir King Yes, I am at 95% of the life purpose course. I started in June 2015... I love the process. I take my time. Read all the books.. put everything into practice.
  20. @Aamir King I don't know. If you feel lazy then you might not have found your life purpose. I found mine (partially) and I really do not have time for TV anymore (that's why I sold the tv and cancelled the cable subscription), left some whatsapp groups. My time off consists of going to the gym, yoga, meditate, walk in nature.
  21. @Baul I am doing the course. I bought the book. I am halfway and went from 170 to 400 Words per minute in English, which is not my native language. Just read a lot and do the drills.
  22. @Spiritjunkie Do not make the mistake by thinking there is a elevator and a stairs and that the stairs is better. There is no elevator to success! That means (to me) that no one is going to take you there. Many people can give you advice on where the stairs begins and the best methods to climb the stair. There may even be people that can walk with you on the stairs! To motivate you and give instructions. But there is no one going to carry you on the stairs. And there is no elevator (no magic pill, no machine) that takes you effortless to success. You have to get off your butt and do the work!
  23. @Spiritjunkie Sounds like you have a feeling that something is missing. You feel a lack of something. What is it? You lack love? Money? Purpose in your life? Companionship? Or is it more like a fear? You fear that now you have what you want.... now what? What am I supposed to do now? Is this all there is?
  24. @Aamir King You have to get clear on you life purpose. If you know what you are doing it all for, then also the boring necessary stuff will become meaningful to you and less dreadful. And as soon as you know your life purpose, you will drop the things that are preventing you from getting there, like gaming, TV, gossiping, etc. Here is a kick in your but. Use it as many times as necessary:
  25. @Canadian First, don't worry, you are only 17. There is still a lot of time. Second, if you watched Leo's video's 20k or 21k times, you should be familiar with the term "mental masturbation". I think you are mental-masturbating a lot. I like it too.... But you really need to take ACTION now. Just DO it. Don't just read and watch video's. Really implement it. Like Russel Simmons wrote "The pain that is created by avoiding hard work is actually much worse than any pain created from the actual work itself." And this one is also for you. As a gift:
