Suffering is an option. Suffering can be from losing a loved one too - not just from deprivation of what is needed by the physical body - but Suffering of the mind. This is far more powerful. But where he was going was self inquiry. He spoke of the subject/object duality - but really this is the self/other duality. To free yourself from other you must first determine that which the self is. Then later other will be revealed as well. Combine any sort of suffering with self enumeration and then you are cooking up enlightenment with gas.

This seems like it would still leave a subject. Enlightenment is the collapse of the subject/object duality. Find this through self inquiry. Inquire into what it is you think is the subject. But the self/other is a duality - the subject should not be emphasized more than the object or the field as you call it. The field could also free itself from the subject. Don't look at it as subject/object- look at it as self/other and then attempt to understand what self is. Later you will find this is the answer to what other is as well.

@Leo Gura yes they do! You can actually manage the entire virtual machine if you want that.. but yeah you can just get a better provider and be OK too..doesn't have to be them.

Smaller providers sometimes don't have good redundancy or security..or good backups...larger cloud providers like Azure or AWS have layers of that...but honestly I thought maybe he still ran it out of his basement..you know- the tower server with 2 hard drives and tape backups 😀😃

Precisely. Now..Awakening is something else. That will literally die. That only takes self inquiry. It does not take 5-MeO-DMT. But if you have access to that go.for it. Otherwise sit in meditation. As long as it takes. When you feel no self then come back and talk to me about it. But up until that - its just conceptual.

@Princess Arabia be careful about turning no self into a belief. It's the biggest trap in spirituality. Truly discovering no self - now that's another matter. That's awakening- or the first and most paramount of awakenings. But if you havent had that then be careful about adopting it as a religion.

Its like developing a game and then putting yourself into the game as a finite player. As the player telling yourself you designed the game doesn't mean much because you have limited yourself and you are now within the confines of the game. So you will lose hit points and take damage. And you will feel it completely.

OK see how that works out for you. I guarantee you find meaning when you are supposed to show up for work and you don't. There will be consequences.

@Sugarcoat that's a good point. Physical pain and suffering exists so long as you are in finite form. If you aren't feeling it then it doesn't exist for you. But it's only a matter of time before you get old and whither away.

I understand but you exist in a reality where there is a construct. A subject and an object. You can go meta on that but in everyday life you cannot tell your boss you were late for work because there isn't a you. You are confined to the rules of the construct.

Well yes. But that is a subjective point of view. You cannot escape your own outlook on reality. No matter how mich you choose.
