@Tim R the others had some really good answers for ya. It really doesn't matter if he was enlightened or not. If you were to wonder though, it would really depend on what you consider enlightenment to be - it's relative. If you consider enlightenment to be accessing non-dual states of consciousness - aka mystical experiences - (samadhi) that accompany realizations of various facets of the Absolute - then yes you can be enlightened as a mofo and your ego can still be addicted to stuff. Because the ego completely dissolves during such states. If you consider enlightenment to be fully embodying Being all the time - even as the ego -and thus abiding in it even back in duality - (in which case the individual works to purify their ego by vanquishing addiction and other things that can trap the ego and mask suffering with "pleasure". This is really where the real work comes in. It takes a lot of inner work and strength to embody God on an everyday basis and not give in to the ego's selfishness. But typically it will tend to be a lot easier and even completely natural to beat these things for someone who has accessed mystical states of consciousness, because these people tend to be pretty conscious as it is of what is real and what is illusory.

@blankisomeone because you as God are dreaming a particular dream that adheres to a certain rule set. Other people are just part of that dream. When you become directly conscious that you yourself as the ego are an idea - that is when you as God will awaken from your own dream.

something infinite can forget that it is infinite which would make it finite relative to that perspective. Relatively it is finite but Absolutely speaking it is still infinite.

Infinity. You are yourself. There is no where to go. When you become directly conscious of this that is enlightenment.

Remember in Leos "what is perception" video he discusses the ego co-opting consciousness. Well in this case there is no one co-opting consciousness it is just Consciousness dreaming.

Excellent. Then keep up the spiritual work Practice makes perfect. Now for me it took a week of meditation. But for you, since you have put in so much work - why don't you take 5-MeO and just demolish the ego. Do not fuck around if you want awakening at this stage. If you want to experience God.

It is. I knew during enlightenment that it was the same thing and yet if that were the case everyone suffering from depersonalization would be awake. So clearly there is an element lacking.

Yes. It did in my case. I had experienced depersonalization before so i knew what it was. But can't really say it was after enlightenment - it was a combination of both depersonalization and God realization.

@cetus hmm perhaps or perhaps thats the lens you are looking through. But ultimately you advance so high that you go full circle and realize there is no difference between any stage.

@Koeke Maybe your ego likes dying. Mine didn't. Or maybe what you have experienced is yet still childsplay. The dissolving of the illusion of death is no small feat even for God - because he buries himself down so deep and then has to climb out. If you still fear death then you haven't died. You haven't died (capital Y) - not small you. Meaning You woke up to Yourself. The small self will always fear death. But it is a part of God consciousness that you take away that knows better.

This thread won't die haha. So think of it like this guys. You are infinite Mind or Infinite Awareness. You limited yourself to a finite level of consciousness in which Oneness has been fragmented. There is you over here - and someone else over there. There are, well other people....Awesome! All is well in the world. But..you literally can have an awakening or mystical experience in which your awareness or consciousness expands 1000 fold. At this level of consciousness - and this is the facet of awakening i call Oneness, i think Leo calls it aloneness - both are accurate - in which the duality of self/other collapses. Its both amazing and terrifying at the same time - because you become directly conscious that all form or content (which includes everthing "else"" is literally held within your mind - which ultimately is the Mind of God. So here you are shifting to God's perspective, so to speak. Like i said it is both shocking and blissful simultaneously because you realize this entire universe is yours. Its amazing frankly. And terrifying because you realize you are completely alone in the sense that everything and everyone else is literally a projection of your mind. There are no other beings you can talk to because you are the only show in town. I remember i left work and couldn't function for several days. So the fucked up part is you can't function as a human being at this level of God consciousness. Its like when you are in a video game in God mode - that defeats the whole purpose of the game. But don't worry you come back to the ego and everyone else comes back too.

@tuckerwphotography after you have a mystical experience or an awakening you will open up. Right now you are still closed off to Love.

There are similarities but depersonalization is a loss of a sense of self. Enlightenment is becoming directly conscious that you are not a self (ego death) but that instead you are (via being) the Self/Infinity/God/Love/Consciousness. The similarity comes in because awakening can have that feeling of no sense of self too, which can lead to nasty ego backlash on the return - but during awakening it is accompanied by immense bliss, unlike raw depersonalization.
