As an actual career artist myself, I can say that you're talking shit. Art school is highly rigid and standardized in the way they teach art. They care more about making your work look "professional" in a normie sense rather than you finding your own unique creative success. (and even then, I've heard some people say they believe art school has become old-fashioned and doesn't really cater to actual modern industry trends) I will say that maybe for certain specific artistic disciplines, maybe, just maybe, you absolutely *need* a degree. E.g. Graphics Designer. Animator (especially 3D), VFX artist. But for Painters, Cartoonists (like me-self), Illustrators, etc., Internet Tutorials, In-Person Courses, and Books is already enough to get fairly professional advice making art school somewhat unnecessary. And it'll probably be cheaper than having to pay student loans. (My actual college degree is in CompSci, by the way. Even there, sometimes I think I could have just learned programming on my own.) And the best Science is done by visionaries, regardless of whether they're in academia or not.

No, never heard of it. I can breathe but my nose is still fairly congested 24/7 so I will have to look into whatever may help. Thanks. On another note, that is, literally speaking, a problem I had years ago when I first got my Tinnitus and it was a lot worse. Trying to sleep with bad Tinnitus is no joke.
-
@Leo Gura I'm not being defeatist, I'm just being kinda lazy with this particular issue because it's not too much of a problem for me and I'd rather focus on other things. A serious health issue that I have been dealing with for years and that I've been working on largely this year is largely nasal-based. My nasal problems do sometimes worsen my tinnitus temporarily so I may try this Tinnitus Mix treatment if it becomes more of a problem. Though lately, I've been making good progress and I've finally been able to breath well way better than I have in years. I can still make more improvement with it, though.
-
I have mild, probably permanent, tinnitus. I've lived with it for years because I regularly listened to loud music in the past. But it's mild enough now that I barely notice it most of the time. I deliberately have to pay attention to it to notice it. So I don't think I'll be doing this test, unfortunately. I doubt that I would notice much of a difference.

You can still criticize Lex Friedman for being too centrist, though. He's known to have been downplaying the January 6 riots and said that condeming them is "worsening the divide".

Almost time to Post that Post-Modernism video. No, I will not apologize for that joke.
-
How does PM become dangerous? What are the aspects of reality that PM ignores? In what ways can PM be exploited by selfish egos?
-
Currently re-watching your first Postmodernism episode. How different is this new one going to be? Is it like a sequel or a complete remake? So to speak.

@Leo Gura Maybe it'll have some crocodiles hiding in the waters

Still depends on the swing states, I suppose. Let's wait for those poll results. -

More like Donkey theory Anyway, considering RFK had like 5% of polling or something. Maybe around 2.5% average go to Trump, I'm thinking. -

So indecisive, he couldn't decide if he wanted to write 'for free' or 'for a fee'. -
@Leo Gura Well, for one thing, I don't mean to accuse Peter Boghossian as far-right. I just mean they've collaborated in various projects. He mainly collaborates with Stefan Molyneux when it comes to the whole New Atheism business or thing. As for James Lindsay, all I know is that one time with the "Grievance Studies" where they deliberately try to discredit their academic/political opponents by getting them to publish some bullshit papers they made (or at least papers they intended to be bullshit).
-
@Leo Gura Fine with me. But I will still point out that James Lindsay and Stefan Molyneux are both insane lunatics. Molyneux got banned a few years back because of spreading hate speech. and Lindsay recently tried to smear Kamala Harris as a 'Satanist'.
-
Isn't that guy pals with known far-right folks like James Lindsay and Stefan Molyneux? Not to mention he's fairly aligned with the New Atheism movement.

Really good, simple and straightforward video I got recommended today. Fairly underrated and needs more views.
