Cut off distractions as much as possible and focus on letting your creative imagination guide the creation process as directly as possible. Kinda hard for me to do, actually. My mind wanders off a lot.

My background isn't exactly massive yet but I have gotten through tons of deliberate focused practice within the past few months. I'd like to hear your stuff too, by the way. I pretty much only use FL Studio for my stuff. I love composing with MIDI and I currently don't record with real instruments at the moment.

I make instrumental music and post I make instrumental music and post it on YouTube. Here's my latest demo reel:

@StarStruck Just finish the LP course, do the suggested book reading and documentaries and things should become mostly cleared up for you. Then comes the tricky part of actually putting it into action. And for the record, I was a programmer myself before I realized that it wasn't what I truly wanted. I've been able to find what I truly desire through the course but making it real is still a huge challenge. (And I'm still in the process of reading the books.)

I actually do happen to have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science but sadly, I've since given up on programming and instead am pursuing a career in music. Thing is, I don't have a degree in music but I'm doing what I can to learn as much as possible from whatever sources I can find right now. A video like this would really help people in similar situations as I'm in, though.

@Leo Gura I'm guessing this is a fairly recent problem? Hopefully, it gets handled soon.
-
What's this? It still failed to process! That's what the question mark means right?
-
@Leo Gura Same thing happened to a video of mine too a few days ago. But it was a small video and just easily uploaded it again.
-
Everything seems fine and dandy for me so far.

@Leo Gura Same here. Firefox user on Windows 10. It sometimes shows 'database error' on the Blog, Forum, and LP content.

So I'm currently 22 years old and I bought the LP course a few months ago because I figured it was time for me to seriously pursue my life's dream of becoming a music producer, specifically for film and video games. I still felt in the dark with a lot of stuff so I decided to buy the course. It's been working great so far but nothing extraordinary yet. Course' I haven't finished the course yet, though nor read any of the books. (Here's to hoping I make it someday) But whatever. . . that's not the point of this thread. I don't want to spoil too much for all the folks here who haven't bought the course yet but I'm still at the exercise where you get to research 3 folks whom you extremely admire. I figured the first person would be my favorite musician of all time, The Sampling Masters. (Okay, The Sampling Masters is actually a duo but their achievements and reasons why I admire them is so similar that I chose to research them as one entity.) Second guy is Leonardo Da Vinci because fuck yes. But I couldn't think of a third entry for a while. I don't spend much time looking into historical educational material yet, unfortunately, so I had quite a bit of trouble trying to think of possible historical figures or even modern figures that I look up to. But then I suddenly remembered someone whose achievements, passion, and life I do greatly admire almost more than anyone else I know of right now: @Leo Gura himself! Why did I feel the need to write about this? Fuck, I dunno. Maybe I just thought it'd look cool. But come to think of it, perhaps this thread could be a place to post content you know of about Leo that could help aid my research into him and his life. Basically, I really genuinely want to get a better idea as to how he went about doing things to get to where he is today.

Heh. Good point. But fortunately, I'm hardly THAT obsessed with you and I recognize that you're not as great as you seem. (Ironically, that's one of the things I admire about you. That you're just some random dude who likely became and realized God) You're not going to be my 3rd entry. I'm going to think of someone else preferably in the field of expertise I'm aiming for. I live in a small province in the Philippines far away from any scenes where I can easily meet like-minded people. My only choice is to look for them online.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's the best way to find out if I have legitimate ADHD?

It's either that or the products of Distraction Inc. You decide. -
Stop pretending and git good! In all seriousness, though, just stop caring what other people think and be authentic.

I dealt with tinnitus back in my teen years and it caused me some amount of stress and anxiety so I sorta get how you feel. But now in my early 20's, it's pretty much mostly relieved now. I was able to get through it back then starting with listening to white noise and also just plain avoiding listening to loud music for a while. This was before I knew anything about mindfulness practices. Even back then, I still managed to eventually reached a point where I forgot my tinnitus was even there and the problem was essentially solved. Even if I can still hear some of my tinnitus symptoms today if I am reminded of it and I focus hard enough on it.

I sometimes like to think he's just trying to teach us the value of patience.

I didn't know a new video was expected to be released. I kinda just thought he took a break for the New Year.

A YouTuber's transition from Stage Orange to Green
-
THIS IS REALLY REALLY REALLY GOOD
-
I don't care about achieving the kind of success that Elon Musk has. I'm a simple moderate self-actualizer.
-
I'll just go and outright admit. I'm still at Orange/Green.

Whoops! Forgot to post the last two episodes. Well, Here they are: Episode 14: Genre: Techno Pop Episode 15: Genre: 90's Happy Hardcore

Hello There. This is actually my third attempt at starting a Self-Actualization Journal in this forum. My past two attempts failed because I would eventually lose focus on it, get lazy, and just stop doing the journal altogether. This time I hope it will be different. Because instead of talking about general personal development activities I tried doing during the day. I want to make this journal specifically about what I've recently discovered my life purpose to be. Which is, to become a musician. Of course, I'm still trying to work out the kinks as to how exactly I want to be a musician but for now I'm quite clear about this career path and am extremely passionate about making music. What this journal will be about is a side-project that I've been working over the past few months called 'Cookie Rhythm OvenBeats'. About a month before I started the project, an online friend of mine introduced me to a mobile game franchise called 'Cookie Run'. The gameplay involves simple runner mechanics with many unique twists but what truly makes Cookie Run unique is its entire plethora of playable characters that has a lot of variety in design and personality types. Being that one of my greatest values in art is variety, I came up with the idea of starting a YouTube series of unofficial theme songs for each character every week. The main purpose of this series, for me, is not to provide theme music for the Cookie Run community. Primarily, I see this an amazing way to get a lot of practice in producing music in many different genres. I'm hoping to keep this series up for as long as I can then eventually start working on more music projects in the future. Even though I no longer play Cookie Run, I still feel very passionate about this project and I hope to post and share every new episode with you guys when they come out. For now, I will post all the 11 episodes that I have currently made so far. Please give them a listen, yeah? Episode #1: GO GO BE BRAVE [Happycore] Episode #2: OVENBREAK LOBBY DANCE REMIX [Techno / EDM] Episode #3: Pink Pop Rock [Electronic Pop Rock] Episode #4: LIME TIME [Beach Pop] Episode #5: Bright Marching Band [Marching Band] Episode #6: WHO AM I? [Dramatic DnB] Episode #7: The HooHoo Song [New Age] Episode #8: HooHoo Rock [50's Rock] Episode #9: Blackberry Fever [Violin Hiphop] Episode #10: Zombie Night [80's Funk] Episode #11: Devil Speed [Hardcore]
