Well. . . it's dumb. You can't just explain away ideologies you don't like with mental illness. Richard Dawkins did that and he was mocked for it at least by sensible people who don't think religion comes from mental illness.

Never claimed he's a high-quality source. He also unironically thinks the majority of nazis (and certain kinds of hippies) are mentally ill. And generally speaking, anyone who doesn't even know Spiral Dynamics is a thing doesn't understand 99% of human behavior. He's still entertaining as hell sometimes, though. I don't watch almost every one of his videos unlike someone like David Pakman. Though admittedly, Pakman's uploads are very short.

This is all just speculation. Not even particularly substantiated speculation.

Vaush is a game streamer too actually. But he tends not to do political commentary and gaming at the same time unlike Destiny. I also think Vaush tends to be more interested in self-education and research.

He used the N-word one time to try to shock an obnoxious Nazi who kept literally saying "N-word" during a stream. The Nazi was clearly just taunting so Vaush said the actual word himself to throw him off.

@Max_V I rarely watch any of Destiny's content and even when I do, it's only a small portion of it. I think he doesn't have the vision to create fresh and innovative content topics on YouTube, at least not anymore unlike Vaush. The problem with Destiny is that he tends to focus too much on debating bad political opinions and takes and almost never spends any time talking about how we can improve the systems we live with. Vaush is more of a hybrid of that. @Leo Gura Funnily enough, Destiny did have a pretty revealing conversation with David Pakman where even Pakman was just shocked by how antagonistic Destiny has become. He openly admits to wanting to talk more about Trump, Neo-Nazism, etc. than anything else.

@Leo Gura You seem to be talking about populism a lot lately. Since this is mainly a personal development forum, I'm curious to know what you think are the direct negative effects that having a toxic populist ideology has to one's personal life, if any, as opposed to just talking about the large-scale systemic effects of populism.

Microsoft using shady illegal tactics to crush their competition is an example of corruption. Corruption is the norm in a completely free market. Stop assuming companies will just automatically know how to avoid causing direct harm to the human population. The problem with taking away the government is that you are then giving all the power to the private sector which is significantly more likely to cause trouble since you no longer have central authority that is able to enforce regulations meant to prevent harm. Good luck trying to help a create a world where you can only get policing from private companies and justice from private courts. That would be way worse than what we have now.

Look up the Microsoft anti-trust lawsuit of 2001.

I think that many people who have experienced prison may possibly have had their life changed for the better because of it. I'd much prefer listening to or maybe even employing someone who has spent years in prison and learned from the experience rather than someone who has lived an average life in a traditional conservative environment who thinks they're morally superior to criminals. Check out this documentary if you have the time. It's one of my favorites and it really shows how someone with a criminal history can become a completely different person after (or sometimes even during) their sentence. Just observe the way the guy talks and his body language.

The placebo effect has always baffled me tbh. Sometimes, it makes me wonder if we'll even notice a difference if all medicines and supplements have been replaced with sugar pills without anyone noticing.

@Leo Gura Okay then. I can respect that opinion. I'm actually on the fence with the Wendy's case. I recognize that Brooks violently resisted arrest, but I keep wanting there to be an alternative to shooting someone who's running away. I guess it could just be me, speaking as a fragile snowflake who'll never handle a gun in his life lol. (Or at least, I sure hope not)

In my mind, getting killed in this situation is still too harsh. Do you think the Atlanta incident is an example of over-policing or was it okay to take a risk by shooting at him?

@Kinjal It's spelt 'moral'. Morale is a different thing. Morals and Ethics appear to be inter-changeable. But I think their relationship is akin to that of intuition vs logic. Where morals are more intuitive guidelines on how to live life whereas Ethics are more based on direct thought.

I think you missed the subtext. I was only talking about anyone in this forum who probably is self-aware enough to watch out for their own ignorance. Most people are knee-deep, neck-deep, or drowning in their own ignorance.

Anger is ignorance. Technically okay to be ignorant but why would you want to be?
