  1. I don't know enough about education, and it seems like a really nice goal, but there may be regulations on what you can teach in a private school? Maybe not though because of the "science" I've seen Evangelicals teach. Surely if they teach that dinosaurs didn't exist, you can teach a kid how to love himself, but maybe not? Was just something to think about, and if you've already thought about it, well you're probably on the right track to actualizing this
  2. While I disagree from what I seem to be experiencing, I can't argue something that I'm not aware of. But we definitely seem to be naturally wired to feel negative emotions without beliefs. Many animals feel anxiety/sadness (seem to). but have no language, thus shouldn't have the opportunity to have thoughts/beliefs, yet still suffer from emotions. There are also times when you say get nervous around the girl, even though you know in your head that there no need to be afraid, you barely know her, who cares if you get embarrassed, you can have every belief/thought in the world telling you not to be nervous and still have the emotion. You're welcome to blame this on a thought/belief I/you are unaware of, but it seems like some of our emotional reactions/ like in the animal kingdom, are naturally wired to help our survival
  3. That's not what I'm saying, you can keep the emotion repressed long after the thought has passed and be left with a repressed emotion that feels like it came from nowhere even though originally it came from a thought/belief. The distinction is important because you may feel like you have to chase down this thought/belief to deal with the emotion you were unwilling to feel when it has long passed and it seems futile (to me) to look for it
  4. I completely agree, but I would just add they can be emotions you are repressing as well that might not necessarily have thoughts/beliefs attached to them
  5. When I go slower, I'm more in tune with my emotions and in the moment more, when I'm rushing it takes a lot of thought and coordination and I can't really focus on existing as much, which I'd rather do
  6. Our boys in blue! God bless them, fucking criminals
  7. So you learn two things primarily in calculus and I'll quick run through briefly how they can be used. Derivatives: you've probably learned about the slope of a regular old line as some constant, it might be 0,1,-8, but its consistent throughout the graph because it's just a line and the slope stays the same. However it doesnt make sense to say a graph of the function x^2 has slope 0,1,-8 ever because its different everywhere. At x=0 the slope is 0, at x=1 the slope is 2. Each unique point has a unique slope, and learning how to take a derivative or a function will allow you to extract the slope of the function at any point. This can be useful because real world system like the position of a particle can be modeled by a function, and the slope at a point will tell you its velocity at that point. There are many other examples. Integrals: integrals would allow you to extract the area under the curve of a function, let's say we have some force that is being applied that can be modeled by that same x^2. So at x=0 0 force was applied, x=1 1 newton of force was applied and x=2 4 Newtons of force was allied. The area under the curve of a force function like this between say x=0 and x=3 would give you the total force for the first 3 seconds that was applied. This should be 3 doing math in my head, this total force can be used to calculate the total acceleration after applying those 3 seconds of force. As you can see it's a lot of modeling, I used physics real world examples cause I'm a physics major, but there are plenty of examples in finance, engineering, medicine, everywhere. Calculus is the math of the real world, if you decide to learn it and need help, I'm a forums message away
  8. What you think is mathematics in high school and below is not what is considered math in college. Pure mathematics is much different than anything you've experienced probably, it's very proof and logic heavy. Calculus has a lot to do with real world applications, which I can expand on if you're interested, it's the most applicable math class in the real world next to your basic algebra. But yeah love is cool, in my opinion!
  9. I think you can study and enjoy western philosophy without believing it will explain the deepest truths of the universe. On top of that, the Osho now wasnt always the Osho then, people change and develop. Finally if neither of those are satisfying, I'd ask you to answer the following question "what harm does western philosophy cause people, and how did Oshos specific lectures and ideas contribute to this harm?"
  10. A lot of people become zen devils from this, may be just the beginning, but it sounds like it's the beginning of something great
  11. Naww theres a thread basically dedicated to Leo's neck, if he keeps that shit open you're totally fine, in my experience these people come on super arrogantly and dont repond to the scrutiny their ideas get from the community in the comment section and just kind of keep throwing a fit until the thread gets locked because they never intending on having a discussion
  12. Interesting stuff, maybe that will resonate with my experience one day, certainly plausible
  13. Maybe a manifestation of inner guilt of eating meat, man that doesnt sound fun but you shouldn't eat meat if you cant accept how it's prepared in my opinion
  14. I've heard it too from ayahuasca ceremonies but never had anything from my shroom or lsd trips. Let's hope people dont start eating a piece of their house pets as a way to "preserve their memory"
  15. Can "the truth" be heard? I agree that its important to be able to have open dialogue with other groups of people, but you can rip out the inner voice, your ideas, thoughts etc out and still have "the path" (atleast the one I'm following) I was skeptical of Leo kind of running a cult of his own, and I think some people just blindly agree with him, but I havent seen posts getting closed that had genuine arguments and discussions going, I see healthy debate amongst the community, and he seems open about his own flaws. You seem to be worried a bit because you put a disclaimer about being banned, but I really doubt you have to be. Find the most compelling argument against Leo and his teachings and I'll help you try and rip him a new one
  16. I've heard that too, but remain VERY skeptical. Have you just heard this or has anyone had a direct experience of this?
  17. I would recommend remembering that it's not the theories/insights/concepts that will make you happy and fulfilled in life, remember to focus on the love and sharing it. You dont want to be the least happy, smartest asshole in the world. But maybe you want to me the smartest asshole, it's up to you
  18. That's fucking right, Professionals
  19. Nothing police, we've heard reports that you aren't using the proper non-dual terminology when describing yourself. On top of that, we're going to need you to pretend like you aren't human and have no interests other than Truth, so you can go ahead and get rid of your personality. Love you Ivankiss, but this attitude of, "I'm just going to be who I am and let my personality shine" has gone too far
  20. Me and him just started being partners, we met on the forums, we exchanged phone numbers, we became accountability partners
  21. Well this was really easy cause my whiteass got burnt a bit through sunscreen and basically took out all my energy so I slept from my 7pm 12pm, thus I did not have any food/alcohol tonight, overall great day
  22. So today I was thinking about the craziest synchronicity I have personally ever had, when I was going through youtube videos and saw a video on synchronicities. I didn't plan on making a post, but too many not to talk about I guess. My Story Me and my friend love smoking and listening to music, but this day we decided we wanted to see if we could find songs to sync up with dance music videos on youtube. So we would watch these dance competition dances and me and my friends would try to guess the vibe early on in the song and pick a song to match it. Now after more than a couple of almost perfect matching up of vibe and beat, ups and downs of songs, I'm a huge skeptic and always will be (maybe), my impression was that well these songs must just work for all songs and I told my friend that, even though we were really fucking impressed. Anyways, here is where it gets crazy, after having this discussion on synchronicities, we landed on a dance and we had the sound off cause we were listening to our music and watching their dance and trying to match them up. My friend found a song, and it just matched the dance so well we couldn't believe it. I turned the CC on so you can see the lyrics and I shit you not, my friend randomly had chosen the song that they were dancing to, and was at the same part of the song, the subtitles literally lined up with the song my friend thought would pick the vibe. This was a random dance video we had never seen before w/o subtitles, and just the first song that came to his mind that he thought matched up, and he picked the song they were dancing to without knowledge and it coincided with the same part of the song they were dancing with. That has to be one in a million or so How about y'all? Anyone had some crazy ones recently?
  23. Still on vacation but kayaking and snorkeling offered some good exercise and I tried to be reasonable with how much free food I ate. Stayed away from too many chippies and will stay away from alcohol for the rest of the night, need to do a better job at staying hydrated.
  24. This is not outside of debates around the education system. It's illegal to not go to school, that has to be considered
