I woudn't worry about it. Society, culture, influences from peers, upbringing, etc are more than enough to deconstruct. You don't need another model to be anxious about Besides, that hierachy model is not set in stone. As others have said, everybody's different and everybody has different needs. Although do take the time to figure out what works for you. It may take a while and you may need to experiment a lot but in the end, it'll be worth it. You'll know what you need to work on, where you should go, what you're lacking, etc. / Also, watch out for spiritual bypass. Let's say you have some emotional issues (lack of self-esteem, lack of self-confidence, childhood trauma and so on) and saying "oh, it doesn't really matter, I just should let it go, I should just ignore my ego, all is one anyway, yada yada" does not work.

Great thread! I stumbled upon a short book the other day and I read it in one sitting (just as it is recommended according to the introduction :D) https://zenhabits.net/little-book/ Even though it's short and free, it has great value to it. I seriously want to implement the ideas from the book in my everyday life.

I asked myself the same question when I was doing meditation, yoga, self-inquiry and other spiritual practises. Why am I even doing this stuff? What am I trying to achieve/attain? This went on for a while but basically I couldn't find any reasonable answer so I took a step back and started focusing on my basic needs. I kept my meditation routine but I started building healthy daily habits, dealing with my career stuff, learning new things, dealing with my emotional issues and so on. I wanted to skip this step thinking my spiritual practises would solve my other issues but the thing is, it doesn't work that way. Also, it's perfectly okay to deal with "lower" needs before you jump into hardcore spirituality. -
Just wow.

Explained and Mind explained @ Netflix Awesome documentary about various things e.g. meditation, weed, billionaires, cults, even psychedelics. -
Start asking questions. Literally. Get a notepad and a pen and write the question on the top of the page: "Why do I feel like a defective human being?" Then, allow yourself to write anything without filtering. Whatever comes to your mind. Remind yourself that nobody will read that paper so feel free to express yourself. The deeper you dig the better. Mind you, this is not an easy process and probably it's gonna be painful. Give it some time and be patient. You'll have to return to this question a few times, I guess. And when you do find the answer, that'll be a huge success already. Ideally, you'll know what the problem is and you'll be able to start working on it.

Check out this book: https://www.amazon.com/Not-Nice-Pleasing-Speaking-Unapologetically-ebook/dp/B076VVH14M It may look like a generic self-help book but actually it has several great insights about people-pleasing behaviour to a great extent. I'm only halfway through but I strongly recommend it.

I've experienced something like this twice. A bit hard to explain but it was pretty much what you described. I was meditating (focusing on the breath) and it was a regular session, nothing fancy. Then boom, out of the blue I felt a warm, fuzzy "feeling" arose from my belly area and it sort of filled my whole body. My heartbeat and breathing sped up a little and it felt like I was floating. It lasted a few minutes (I think) and it was pretty much like a low-key orgasm. -
Some high quality sitcoms: - The Office (I only saw the US version but I'm pretty sure that the UK one is great as well) - Hello Ladies (I really-really like the humour in this one. It's pretty much like The Office but it also has some offensive/sexist jokes) - Arrested Development (Not my cup of tea but it has some great scenes) - Parks and Recreation - Brooklyn 99, Modern Family (these are also good but these tend to be a bit silly and not in a good way)

Been doing Kriya for like ~5-6 months and If I'm being honest, I haven't experienced anything out of ordinary yet. I read so much awesome things about it here (e.g. bliss states for after like 2 weeks) so I naively execpted that something similar would happen to me as well. Don't get me wrong, I didn't get into yoga just for that reason. Also, I'm well aware that people who practise Kriya should not compare their progres but sometimes it's hard to resist the temptation. So, word of advice: Start practising it, give it 100% but don't expect anything. Results will come. (That's what I remind me of when I start to get frustrated with my practise)
