  1. @Chosendeer Before you divide the work, you need to find out what you are the best at, and this requires a lot of trial and error. You can literally try every hat possible, but for that alone, it can take you a year or more. It depends what you how much you can call "solo". If you mean "doing most of the heavy lifting and getting shit done", then yes. If you mean "making a game in total isolation until release", not really. With time you realize how everything is connected and how much even people that tested your game have influenced its production (mostly applicable for games that are made for more than 1 week) and how every little preference has shaped it. For Ultra Resonance I found a musician who did all the OST and SFX for the game (the rest I did myself). For April Snowfall I got some help with the main character and the cover from an acquaintance of mine. For Muerna, the art/sound was made by a dude I randomly meet on itch.io when we've talked about some game jam stuff. Usually, for projects bigger than 1 week, I outsource the stuff I am the most inexperienced (mostly audio). However, I also finished like ~8 games completely alone (in around ~48-72h each, as those are quite common rules for game jams). To be fair, after working for 1 year on my latest game, I have realized how important a fresh perspective can be. A team of 2-4 ppl is the perfect setup, but I can talk only about my own needs/boundaries/limitations/desires/experience/perspective. Thus, I can't advise you to make games completely alone, try to work with at least 1 person at a time and find out with whom you vibe. However, if you struggle to find a partner, this in itself should not be an excuse to not start and try your best. If you want an easy way to find like-minded people, try big game jams events (a new Ludum Dare will start in about 2 months) or join a game dev Discord server and introduce yourself (GLD is a good start). @abrakamowse You are welcome. If you need more resources, I can advise later other channels/books/tools/websites, etc. For now, it might be best to just find an engine that suits you the best. Still, I consider the game jam advice one of the best places to start, more information might only confuse you at this point. Just ground yourself in experience and you will be good. Some people here are already drawn to the idea of making a project together, so maybe you can give it a shoot. Also, the GLD server I've mentioned is a good alternative.
  2. @abrakamowse @Chosendeer @BlackMaze I kinda do indie games as a hobby. Right now I am working on solutions how to make a living out of them, and the first big step being just publishing and doing some basic marketing. Here is the Steam page and here are some older games I made (mostly game jam stuff). You can try the demo for my latest game (it's still not optimesed for Steam overaly so It might freeze at moments). As for the engines and such, it reeeeeaaaaly depends on your scope. Unity is a bad choice for non-programmers and very begginers. Your goal when you start is to just make as many finished .exe prototypes as possible. When you only start, it's hard to learn everyhting at once, so don't make your life harder with comlicated game engines. Something like Game Maker 1 or 2 can be very good (Undertale, Hyper Light Drifter, Katana Zero, Nuclear Throne, and many, many more extremely succeful indie games were made with it). Unity ofc is an industry standart, but it makes little to no sense for a indie to pick it unless he knows exactly why he does so. As for the Godot, I can't give any particular advice, but I am planing to move to it after I finish my current game (among many goodies like a more optmitezed engine for 2D games and hardware, Godot also has 0% revenue cut from your commercial games - that's why some gambling sites/studios invest money to keep this engine going on, lol). Also, if I have to pick only one "advice", I wold suggest doing game jams AND finishing them no matter how "awful" your game wil turn out. Here is a huge list of game jams you can try (there are also HUGE jams like Ludum Dare, Global Game Jam, GMT Jam and so on, but I would not worry too much about them). If you are also intrested in game design, this is one of the best game dev YouTube channel. Both the production and material quality are beyond the roof. Just a as side note, for my game I am using Construct 2, but I can't really reccomend it at this point. The engine is very old (even Construct 3 feels outaded, but somewhat powerful for just learning or fast prototyping), but I am just used to it. To summarize - Look for Game Maker 2 if you want 2D games. Try Godot if you want an underdog with potential. Pick Unity if you either have totally no idea what you want or you know very well what you are doing. And ofc, test for yourself and don't trust some random cats on the internet?. @dharm4 Totally agree with your point. You do need some kind of marketing, and this is usually very seinsible to your personality/preferences/circumstances. After I will realease my game and move to a new engine, I am thinking of starting a community (by using my current game as a huge leverage). I have started this as a hobby ~5 years ago, and ~3 years ago I took this dream of mine quite seriously. No idea how much time it will take me to get a sustainable profit, but I am very motivatred + the journey itself is already very good and is growing myself enormously (you not only need to learn how to make games, but also how to market them and basically be an entrepreneur). It does wonders for your self esteem and gives you a sense of purpose/belonging as nothing I've experienced in my entire life. If anybody have more specific questions, feel free to @ me or DM.
  3. Thanks for that. I am always interested in new perspectives. Never know for sure what to expect around the next corner.
  4. The magnetic pull behind this threat was quite big. Idk about others but for me, a good deal of synchronicity happened around it. Still wonder how/why tho. Sure. Long story short - my intuition/heart/emotions/contemplation/mysticism (even fucking astrology and the book of change) tell me to pursue a life of meaningful deep relationships with people. Meanwhile, I spend too much energy/concern/emotions on spirituality, mainly because of resent, envy, and worst of all - FOMO. Leo did a really good job brainwashing people in believing that awakening it's so important that is worthwhile killing yourself to pursue it and life will be absolutely miserable without it because there is nothing more important than that (I am not quoting him or anything, nor blame him for that, this is a trap of mine own but this is how it feels from my POV). Now I wonder how much and for how long shall I drop this "chasing", or perhaps something else is holding me back much more but I can't even point it out.
  5. To be honest, the message does not resonate with me very much, but I think you are right about following my intuition (even if it's acting quite weird recently...). Thank you once more and have a good fortune!
  6. Howdy @Emerald, it's been a while. I want a try as well if you don't mind. My question: What sacrifices shall I make to achieve divine grace? Thanks.
  7. Thx for replies. @CMacD After I will do successfully at least 4-5 pull-ups in a row, I can consider gym work "complete" for this part of my life. I don't aim for an athletic result, I aim to be more than pathetic with my body. Also, I know that I might not ever fill my "abs skin", however with my current life situation I cannot invest more money/time than I already do. @Knock Thx for the compliment. Ill try to reconsider my whole "gym schedule" to add more pressure to my back muscles and maybe do less variety/more reps for the most problematic areas (chest/arms/shoulders/back). Also, isn't stimulating music like this more beneficial for the workout? I have tried to do work out with binaural beats/classic music/ video games ost/rock and what I found out is that heavy/stimulating music, that I enjoy (aka Hades OST/Dark Souls OST), give me this extra spicy push to move a little further when I feel like failing. Do I miss something, like a mindfulness gap?
  8. Achievement unlocked - Going to the gym consistently for 1 month, hurray! @Knock Now, are you ready to notice me senpai and give some life advice? What I have for now: I go to the gym 4 times a week I usually do 20 minutes of cardio (and idk if this kills or enhance my gains) + 10/20 minutes of stretching + 60 minutes lifting/exercises = 90m I am hungry as hell. I think I doubled down the amount of food I consume, I can eat every 2-3h with no problems. My muscles have grown significantly, but ffs, I still can't do a proper pull up (at least I can pull myself higher by 20-30%, I think I can count that as success) Usually, I do hands on day 1, abs/back on day 2, legs on day 3 and chest/shoulders and some hands on day 4. Now that I have established a routine the question is, what's next? Nutrition/sleep/habit wise it's alright, but how to exercise in the most mindful and efficient way? Also, how much cardio can "kill" my grow? @Michael569 Would you still recommend those exercises to a novice like me or shall I use the gym machines for 1 more month before I "try harder" to improve my gains (I ask this because I still am somewhat afraid of injuries cause of low awareness/experience/muscle strength)?
  9. @AlldayLoop@Michael569 Haha, now my post has transformed into an Athelan X fan page. @WavesI have this feeling that, if I don't get tired af/"killed"/full of pain out of the gym I did something wrong and my muscles/resistance got nothing. I need so much practice before I truly get what my body is telling me. Also, I am not a "really" tiny person, but I can swear that my usual norm was around 1500-2000 and I didn't lost/gain weight for a year or so.
  10. @Waves 3200 kcal... my usual norm was around 1700 before the gym. The app seems nice, is faster to check products with that than to search on the Internet. Mindfulness might be something that I will struggle for a while. I feel anxious as a noobie in the gym, that's why I got stuck in my head when I don't do exercises (yet, doing them is exactly what get me unstuck from the mind). I'll keep an eye over my overall awareness, I am sure that I am not nearly are mindfull as I think. Thx. @SerotoninluvK, yoga is not yet one of my priorities, but ill keep an eye on them. Thx. @Michael569As I said, the first months are just me accommodating to the climate and building a habit. I'll find out later what set of exercises and in wich order better suits me. I eat everything, that's why I have asked about fish, hearts, liver, wall-nut, cottage-cheese and whole grains. I see a lot of guys recommend Athlean X, is he that good in comparison with other channels? Thx.
  11. @AlldayLoop I don't remember any particular insight from this episode besides "relax your body when you feel tension". K, maybe I miss something.
  12. Thx for sharing guys @Michael569 4 times per week seems like overkill, especially for the first month but ill try to keep an open mind about that. Also, is it even possible/healthy to consume 140g of protein per day without supplements? Also ill google later more about "whole-body training", seems like the best place to start my deep research after I accommodate myself with the habit. @Rigel I did that mistake in the past when I thought 100-150 common push-ups are a sign of growing (in a way they were) but only after I started to do more mindful exercises 2 months ago I understood how wrong I was. Fuck, I even remember times when 20 knees push-ups seemed like a lot for me. It took me only 2.5 years to get "serious" about the workout, what a lesson to learn. And yeah, sleep, diet, meditation, and only after workout! Lucky for me I already have the first 3 in place (more or less).
  13. @SerotoninluvThx for advice. 15-25 minutes of cardio + 30-45 minutes of workout seems like the right amount. By Yoga you mean to join classes/find gurus (both is very hard where I live) or just online courses/videos? I am not so sure if I can learn proper Yoga on my own, but if I will feel confident with my gym routine after a while, I might add some home Kriya for "balance". @AlldayLoopThx for the recommendation. The guy seems legit. From my experience, is hard to find quality teaching. Usually, I have to filter 90% of the content I watch. For now, I will stick with Athelan and will see where it goes.
  14. I wish I could understand what "fun" self-improving looks like, I usually prefer and go with the "pain" of growth and achievement, no fun allowed here! @Natasha3 times a week seems like the right number for me too, especially because I know that if I decide to go 6 times a week I will find both energy and stubbornness to continue even if this somehow will hurt me. Stretches -> Cardio -> Compound Push /Compound Pull /Compound Legs exercises days -> Shower seems like the best plan for the first month I have so far. Group exercises sound like a great idea, but I don't know if I can afford them/if the gym I chose have those on the time I go, but at least I will give it a try (especially because socializing is a "subtle" extra reason why I want to join). My diet is healthy as well, but I want to add more "muscle grow" food, that's it. Thx for reply.
  15. @Knock I do get your position. I see 2 "problems" with my general approach: 1)Paralysis by analysis - aka mental masturbation (i have an area in my life where I study "how-to" for more than 1 year, yet I took almost zero action till the recent 1-2 months or so). 2) People suck at building habits. Well, the first one - I already have committed to go to the gym, it's not like "I need to watch 100 videos before I attempt" as I usually do. Second, I am good at building habits/routines. For me it will not be an issue to stick to a schedule, BUT! I need a stable/sustainable schedule. I don't know how many times per week I shall do some sets of exercises and how many other sets. Plus there is a chance that I will get injuries if I do exercises in a wrong way. I will learn from that, no doubt, but I would prefer to minimize unnecessary damage.
