So if a religion discriminated against black people and their schools didn't hire them, would that be any different? -

Actually, most illegal immigrants work their ass off when they cross the border for close to minimum wage, so that they can send it back home. I witnessed this first hand many times as I'm sure many others can say the same. Illegally crossing the border was often viewed as a petty crime, which we turned a blind eye too because it served both parties in some fashion. What did you do to deserve getting free health care and schooling as a child? And as an adult, if you had a disability, what did you do to deserve the free benefits you received? -

The #1 reason I don't want Trump to be re-elected is the amount of laws and policies that are anti-LGBTQ he and his administration have passed. I have a few family members who were effected by these measures and its sad to see our country moving backwards in these regards. https://www.glaad.org/tap/donald-trump -
You have to stop giving them authority, especially in areas that don't make sense. Be confident in your life views, and don't be too judgmental about their views. Maybe they didn't have the knowledge or had to worry more about survival when they were younger. Try to take a positive spin out of what they are saying, be open-minded, and then in turn they will be more open in listening to you and your more progressive thoughts.

The entire US/World/Universe is going more left than ever, and that trend won't stop. -
Is that a complete sentence? Maybe construct you titles better. Also, avoid politics and religion when hanging out with friends. Save those topics for people that don't mind talking about it or online.

Most of the time he is very smart about not directly doing the dirty work. One of the charges against his personal lawyer Michael Cohen (who is currently in prison) is arranging payments to silence women in the 2016 election, who had affairs with Trump. The affairs itself don't bother me, just the fact that he ditched Cohen so quick after he was loyal to him for so long. And how is Cohen being sentenced for that crime, but Trump avoids trouble for this. Now two people who are associates with Giuliani get arrested for campaign finance laws, and there is a lot more to come out of that story as well. Trump is starting to distance himself from this lawyer as well. -

We use taxidermy and put the bodies around the house and treat them like living family members, one sitting at the kitchen, one in front of the tv, etc. -

Actually, the law was changed in May of 2018, not right before the whistleblower complaint like Trump claimed. Also, the whistle blower had both first hand and second hand evidence, so it didn't matter if the law was changed or not. https://thehill.com/policy/national-security/463737-intel-community-watchdog-clarifies-processing-of-whistleblower The Hill is a non-partisan news outlet. -

Because the corruption claim is fairly irrelevant and baseless **The alleged incident happened several years ago in 2015**. Why would he be asking about this now? and its widely believed Trump could care less about this if not for Biden being an opponent. It lines up perfectly that he has his personal lawyer consistently asking Ukrainian officials for information on Biden. Of course Trump doesn't say exactly, "I'll give you military aid if you give me some information I want"-since he knows the call is being listened to by others. There will be more evidence coming out in the next several weeks either supporting the democratic or republican side, so I think one might have to wait. Its basically pre-trial. -

1. Illegally soliciting campaign help from a foreign government -Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971. He is asking for dirt on Biden, his possible future opponent in the 2020 election, on the phone call. The transcript is long, but one quote from Trump is -"The other thing, There's a lot of talk about Biden's son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it... It sounds horrible to me." ** He also has his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani ask Ukranian officials for dirt. This is just one of the Ukranian officials that have made similar comments. *Yuriy Lutsenko, Ukraine's former prosecutor general, told the Los Angeles Times that President Donald Trump's personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, was "obsessed" with potential misconduct on the part of former Vice President Joe Biden or his son, Hunter. *Lutsenko said he repeatedly pushed back on Giuliani's requests to investigate the Bidens. *Lutsenko and Giuliani met in person twice this year, he told the LA Times, in addition to "numerous" phone conversations. *Lutsenko's comments are linked to broader concerns tied to a July 25 phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky — a conversation at the heart of a whistleblower complaint that sparked an impeachment inquiry. https://www.businessinsider.com/former-ukraine-prosecutor-giuliani-pressed-him-biden-probe-2019-9 -

Actually, the call transcripts were moved to a very classified server meant for the most sensitive information in an attempt to cover up the call that happened in July. After the whistle blower complaint was finally released, then the transcripts were released because they would eventually come out anyway. -

Right now odds are -115 vs -115 Democratic Party President vs Republican Party President overall, I would be surprised if Trump won though. Turnout for anti-Trumps should be much higher. -
I would just concentrate on either the reading or yoga for 1 month. Do it at roughly the same time each day(ex. after lunch or dinner), and try to give yourself a small reward after you finish. You can miss a day or so, but not much more than that to make it a true habit. You can still do the other activity, but don't make it a priority. If you want to be able to have a good routine for the rest of your life, take it slow and do it the right way. If you push yourself too hard, you will probably fail like most other humans do. Change is hard, so you have do it the right way.

You have 2 hours of workout, 1/2 hr yoga, 1/2 hour reading, 1 hour meditation, and still have 5.5 hours left? Or maybe I read it wrong. Maybe add more reading and some wandering around outside in nature. Volunteer a couple hours a week.

Fix your depression - by seeing a therapist, reading books on depression, looking on youtube for videos on "how to cure depression", doing more outside activities, going for walks in nature, volunteering, etc.

@crab12 Great post! To change a part of the self that has been that has been there for many years, one usually needs to address it from all angles and use multiple different methods.

How long did you try vegan for? -
SerpaeTetra replied to montecristo's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
Can't some of those ideas in those videos be applied at the same time as people eating less meat? I think the debate is open for vegan diets vs. healthy omnivore diets. Also, I'm open to the idea that it could affect people differently. Most people that aren't vegan are missing many essential nutrients as well though. In the US, something like 30+% of adults are obese. From the research I have done, those people would greatly benefit from a vegan diet. I have seen many many articles from health organizations and doctors supporting a vegan diet, and very few that were against it. Also, Animal Rights is usually the #1 or #2 reason people go vegan. -

Just don't give him the ultimate authority on everything. Realize that he provides a lot of great quality teachings that you can grow from, but he is far from perfect and he isn't going to admit he is wrong very often. Take on his good qualities, and let the other ones go. If you can brush off the stuff that bothers you a bit, you will be much stronger. -

Yes, abortion 30 days after birth is absurd/impossible, since abortion is the ending of pregnancy by removal of embryo or fetus. If you aren't female, you really should keep your opinion to yourself in regards to this matter. -
I think part of spirituality is to strip your ego as much as possible, and this might be doing the exact opposite.
