  1. Yeah. Anyway I'm still curious about this Green/Yellow thing: What would a Yellow politician do that Bernie or AOC doesn't from their Green perspective? Might they not be Yellow? The US democratic system (which seems like quite a difficult framework to work within) doesn't leave that many alternatives, does it? What would Yellow do differently?
  2. As is also the case with Leo, it seems. But as he has kept pointing out, rationality also has its limitations, giving way to broader ways of looking at reality. But going beyond the rational isn't possible from Orange's perspective, who sees pre-rational (Blue) thinking as the only alternative. That is pretty funny.
  3. I know, I know. I don't hold that belief, I guess I'm just confused trying to make sense of the Orange resistance to Green. Up untill this point I've looked at it as a skepticism toward their inability to get things done, but it seems you have enlightened me. Now, when it comes to this: What separates these expressions of Green from Yellow? In what way is Yellow more conscious in their decision making?
  4. Good point. I guess what we need for society to develop is more people like AOC, showing Orange minded people that you don't have to be lazy to be loving. Now, what is it then about these productive Green people that Orange feels the need to ridicule?
  5. Green is often described with having a "lazy hippie" quality - they care and have opinions, but don't act in a well-organized manner. From Oranges perspective then yes, Green has a loving and caring outlook on things, but what good is wanting to save the planet when you can't even get your own act together? How come you lose the ability to get things done when you go from Orange to Green? Can't someone go through Green, acquiring qualities toward the feminine end of the scale, without becoming lazy and crippled? What is it in Stage Green that requires this great sacrifice?
  6. And that confusion can lead to a trap: Orange might judge themselves as being Yellow, believing that they're just keeping a "healthy Yellow" distance to Green, while in reality, they're Orange and afraid to develop into Green themselves!
  7. Yeah obviously, I've seen the videos. But what are the implications of these "conflicting" points of view? And could a stage Yellow person open Stage Orange's eyes and help them see that Green is the next stage in their development?
  8. Hey guys, I would be really interested in hearing about your perspective on this. How does a Stage Yellow person perceive Stage Green compared to how a Stage Orange person perceives Stage Green?
  9. How do you get the most out of reading a book? Basically I would like a video that explains how to develop an ability to read skillfully, efficiently and consciously. This might include patterns that are useful to become aware of while you read, what to pay attention to in yourself and in the book, and how to separate high quality literature from low quality literature. What are some practical ways to improve your reading skills? How do you read faster? How do you memorize what you read? How do you learn from it? How do you develop a reading habit? How do you find joy in reading books? Should you read both fiction and nonfiction? What about audiobooks? I believe more and more people, especially younger people, watch YouTube or Netflix instead of reading books because it's less effort. Some may argue that videos and films are more engaging (combining images, music, sounds, text, etc.) and therefore have a higher educational value as well as entertainment value. How are books superior? Why should you read books at all?
  10. The way I've always understood it, each human being (or sentient being) has something non-physical connected to and part of them, called a soul. What I'm curious about is how the soul is connected to the spiritual realm. What's the difference between soul and spirit? Do we share the same soul, or does every individual have a unique soul? What's the connection between someone else's soul and your own? What happens when the physical body dies; does the soul reconnect with something greater or does it stay on its individual path, either reincarnating or continuing its journey through realities?
  11. Okay, thanks guys; I will try to be more aware of my own judgement about them, resist the urge to open their buds and instead let them blossom in their own time @universe &@jivvie , you both mentioned pragmatism... Would any of you care to elaborate on what pragmatism means, and its limitations?
  12. @Sahil Pandit @TheAvatarState Agreed, going on hikes sounds like a great idea! And thanks for telling me about the other Norwegian, connecting with people from this forum sounds fun The "being cool and a good example" approach seems to be the one that pays off in the long run, I'll try to stick to that one from now on. @Sir Raz Great input, I'll definately keep that in mind and express my opinion more often without being emotionally attached to their response. @John Lula Yup... Are you also from Norway? @fortifyacacia3 Super interesting points, would love to hear more about your perspective on Spiral Dynamics and get clarification on a few of the things you wrote. And @Markus I guess you're right, respecting their paths is the only right way. But it can be challenging to find the right balance between exerting too much force and being completely passive, if you know what I mean... Great comments, I will try to absorb these ideas and bring them into real life situations with the boys. Helps to get some fresh perspectives on the situation. Thanks!
  13. So, I think it would be really good for my closest group of friends to smoke less pot, play less video games, and have more meaningful conversations. We are 8 guys, and a lot of focus lately is, sadly, on talking about shallow (Stage Orange type) topics, especially sex. I'm a social guy and have other friends, but this bunch really is something special, so I wouldn't want to replace them. It just feels like we have a collective addiction. I'd say my friends are all pretty Stage Green, but it's mainly a couple of them that have these Stage Orange tendencies, which contaminates the group and brings out this nasty vibe. I haven't been spending much time with them lately, and feel less connected to them. Wintertime here in Norway is dark and cold, so when we hang out it usually involves getting high and playing video games. I want to help these guys see our challenges more clearly so that our friendship can truly blossom, but find it difficult to get their attention when talking about self actualization. How do I help my friends out of Stage Orange? Does anyone have any experience in trying to raise their friends' consciousness? Or in initiating healthy communication in a group of friends? All tips and insights are much appreciated
