  1. I guess it's better to be happy even when alone? Maybe your mind is just talking nonsense, or I don't understand your issue
  2. @mandyjw My family sometimes thinks, that I am insane, because I meditate I reply: What is sane about watching TV, playing video games and smoking? But you know, this could also be recontextualized into: I meditate and become a zen devil, because I have so much pride in me. And they overcome their heaviest addictions and start self-actualizing, while avoiding my mistakes. It really is not all that simple... Even what you call selfless intention might sometimes be just naivety.
  3. My friend has told me about a book, that talks about some tribe in the rainforest. They live in mutual fairness and compassion and stealing, backstabbing etc... is not natural to them. People tried to make them compete and look for the winner mentality in them, but it just wasn't there.
  4. @Barney Nah, I wanted to ask you, where does your purpose end and your normal, everyday life begin? Aren't they the same?
  5. Yeh I also feel this.
  6. @Barney What is the duality between purpose and casual life?
  7. I guess you can watch them with rests? It takes me multiple days to watch one video nowadays And it is even better, because then you have time to contemplate and apply the insights.
  8. @pluto8 They are right, ask yourself, why do you behave in such a way? Why should anyone take you seriously? Why should you have a serious self-image at all?
  9. You really motivate me to read Ralston Thank you for that. By the way, do you know what is his view on authenticity, what it is? I understand it as that, which arises from nothingness (no biases, no beliefs etc...), but maybe he goes more in-depth in his books?
  10. @tecladocasio You can, sure
  11. @tecladocasio Of course, I also have some problems with Leo, but sometimes you need to actually think about what he is trying to tell you. (like in this example) You cannot run from your ego forever
  12. @tecladocasio There are some more developed people than Leo on this forum and obviously in other parts of the internet, but don't neglect the stuff, that you can still learn from him.
  13. @pluto8 I mean a master can give you some good pointers, but then, when you sit in meditation, it is not effective to just think about concepts you know? Because you need to become more independent, nobody can give you direct experience by answering your questions, teachers are there to be transcended. It is extremely important to contemplate for yourself. I am asking, because I want you to realize it. I just quote you multiple times and delete all the other stuff, it can probably be done in a better way Like highlighting a text and pressing the quote button that appears. It is kind of funny, because I can do this:
  14. You can always go deeper. Nobody tells you to have a good relationship with anyone, it's not a must. After all, we need to kill our Buddhas at a certain time. All these thoughts just stay in the way of God. Yes, it was basically an extreme example That was the point. Do you see yourself fighting for your survival? Why be obsessed with survival, when you cannot win the battle?
  15. @pluto8 It is very hard to talk and understand what spirituality is, when you don't actually do certain practices. I haven't tried psychedelics myself, nor do I think that I understand what spirituality is all about, but some people are just too off and Leo is trying to get you back on track. Do you see, how your ego gets triggered, when someone, calls you a devil? (He called me a devil too yesterday, so I know how you feel ) Humble down and move on. By the way, I was on a speech about duality. The woman said, that modern spirituality is institutionalized and that it is basically the same thing as New Age and religion. She had probably zero or very little direct experience (someone asked her about it), and was saying, that if she would've had it, her understanding wouldn't be objective enough. Her field was literally called theoretical spirituality. This misunderstanding can go as far, as someone becoming a zen devil and then teaching about his or her beliefs at a university and being paid for it.
  16. @Paul92 It won't help you Paul... Try contemplating it yourself
  17. @Leo Gura Ok Maybe my question was unclear, I'll try to be more direct - what does the word authentic mean to you? (I've already tried contemplating it, but maybe I need to go through some paradigm shift?)
  18. Can you apply this rule to ANY habbit? Like lying for example?
  19. @Shaun You have so many limiting beliefs, drop them!
  20. @Shaun That's a bad excuse. 40 hours is not all that much.
