  1. Be careful about preaching the preach
  2. @ZenAlex For how long has this been going on with you?
  3. Hope you find this helpful! https://academic.udayton.edu/jackbauer/Readings 595/Koltko-Rivera 06 trans self-act copy.pdf
  4. @cetus56 @Serotoninluv I've almost always found answers like those pretty terrifying, but on second thought, it seems like the only valid answer. The kind of insanity I know just melts down in silence so it's all cool, rabbit holes are nice
  5. @Serotoninluv What kind of insanity are you talking about? (I mean the one caused by spiritual work) I've had these periods of feeling like I am going insane but I was able to let go and transcend that and my friends who are also searching have been telling me something similar... Is there something deeper, more dangerous perhaps?
  6. @Serotoninluv Wow, thanks for this amazing reply! I even feel like I understand what you've just written This world needs more professors like you. What would be the other factors? I always wonder about this, because we can basically fix our mood and psyche with these very abstract and woo woo practices that are hardly based on any science and everything ends up working just fine, but at the same time we cannot ignore the physiological side of things if we want to further increase our understanding - where do these things overlap? Is there any serious research being done on the topic of the nervous system's relationship to spiritual practices, like how hormones, neurotransmitters, electromagnetic waves change with meditation, yoga etc...? It kind of seems to me that the changes in behavior that lead to spiritual growth happen intuitively, but maybe we can enhance these effects? What do you think?
  7. @abrakamowse There is still resistance there, it's fun when you realize this abnormality has always been inside the norm. And that it isn't really you who is going crazy.
  8. @Serotoninluv Does purifying yourself of trauma and thought stories make any difference on your genes?
  9. Anthropology of the Middle East is very interesting, when you realize that they have all these natural catastrophies there and poor conditions... When you live in that kind of place where you cannot even get yourself a glass of water that isn't full of some weird insect larvae, saying everything is God's Will and we should just deal with it doesn't sound like a bad idea at all, I actually think it holds them together, without Islam, they would struggle even harder.
  10. This is fascinating, if people taught us this in psychology and biology classes at school, that would be awesome. Does goes beyond Samskara (Death?) also have some genetics to it? I wonder how that would look...
  11. @Eugenio What you think or believe is irrelevant to Enlightenment. Enlightenment speaks for itself so clearly that you don't need to think about it, it's impossible.
  12. @Eugenio Enlightenment doesnt mean you become a narcissistic superhuman wizard
  13. @petar8p I mean, some people are just so deluded, that they would listen to almost any bullshit ideology and it's a real thing. I remember when this Reeves guy used to be a thing on this forum, I would justify his opinions and stuff and Leo and others had to delete my content, because it was corrupted with selfishness. Then I had a lot of inner conflict to see where I was going wrong, because it seemed to work just fine on paper... I had to really trust the „higher people“ (higher person for me is someone who lives a happier life than I do, I don't care what colour are you as long as everything works for you well) and kind of go in a direction that I saw no meaning in, but then it turned out to be the right way and I am happy I did it Does that make more sense?
  14. There are just some things that don't work if you are serious about living a more enjoyable life. If somebody advised you to go eat every meal at MacDonalds and watch porn for an hour every day, would you seriously question their opinion or just go away? I mean, if you didn't have any sense of hierarchy in your mind, your head will explode from so much mental mess. Some people just aren't worth listening to. Also there is the influence of hipocrisy, people, who give advice to others, just for the sake of giving advice, without actually living their words, that's the worst for them and those who listen to them and it definitely happens on here on this forum, even though less and less. That's my point.
  15. In my opinion, it's a useful system, because this work is so full of traps and paradoxes... I remember that it happened many times, that someone who was clearly spiritually mature but didn't have a green name, wasn't taken seriously and people didn't recognize it, until they've eventually become a moderator - then people finally listened to what they had to say and I think it made a positive change... But that's just my perspective.
  16. My experience with following gurus is, that I am very lucky with finding amazing, uncorupted teachers and friends everywhere... I remember that I used to be very inclined towards falling into many ego traps and I seriously saw a lot of meaning in them, but it was the faith that the teacher is right, together with some experimenting and listening to my feeling, that got me to open up to different possibilites, so I have a positive experience with following someone (almost) blindly. But in the end, everyone has to give up their guru in order to become aware of Freedom.
  17. My view on this is, that it is so much fun to live in society, but sometimes I feel the need to go away by myself... I heard some stories from a friend who used to live in a monastery that certain zen monks actually believe that zen stories have actually happened I never thought it was possible before he's told me that...
  18. @The Don Try perceiving it as normal and natural, don't think that you are going insane or what not, that really helps
  19. @Nak Khid No, that's not what I am doing Sorry for bothering
  20. If everything is spirituality, you cannot get out, that's the point. Being in a different location doesn't change anything about Love. If you can design your life in society in a particular way, it can also be a very effective way of becoming conscious.
  21. @Nak Khid You can already see many videos about this on youtube, Leo clearly focuses on things that are original. I think you don't understand what he is trying to communicate, giving up everything you love as a human is an example of leaving your comfort zone This belief that he needs to go somewhere is just distracting you from getting where you want to be.
  22. I feel like it goes deeper than you actually think, try to find it yourself, what it means He has some interviews with Peter Ralston on youtube.
  23. Anything you do is spirituality, you don't need to be in Burma or China or India or wherever else
