I bet she would like too after what she's been through! -
I've heard about zen koans for a while now, but fail to understand the meaning of them. Two hands clap and there is a sound. What is the sound of one hand? What is a zen monk supposed to do with this? If he reflects on the enigma, his mind isn't silent. Or am I thinking about this the wrong way?

I think I'll put aside the koans for now -

I read in this book that 5-MeO freebase degrades over time, but salt doesn't. I'm not sure about the best way to store it, sorry

How does psychedelics inhibits objectivity? -
Should one plug 5-MeO freebase or in a salt form? Is one form preferred over another?

This is, quite honestly, one of the best video on non-duality ever made

I will also add this video to the thread : I know Sam Harris gets a bad reputation around here, but I think he explains fairly well what spiritual enlightenment is. Please do correct me if I'm wrong! -

There's no point in finding a life purpose if you are enlightened? -
FredFred replied to Fountainbleu's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
You talked about it in one of your life purpose course videos. The first was finding a life purpose, the second was getting enlightened. I remember because I watched said video not long ago, and I do in fact agree with that statement. Does it still hold true to you? -

Perhaps that's not the right question to ask. Why are you *not* using these substances? -

@Hellspeed It's easy to answer poorly researched comments like that isn't it? ADHD is a very real and complex disorder, as you can see by this long-ass research : https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2626918/ People affected by ADHD aren't simply lacking motivation or discipline. The general consensus seems to point towards a malfunctioning dopamine system, resulting in boring actions becoming ultra-boring actions. It's a tangible neurological dysfunction that cannot be simply be solved by "grounding". It is however very manageable, which is kind of the purpose of this thread. -

I've been diagnosed with ADHD 2 years ago. Classical vipassana meditation helped me a lot with my concentration over the past couple of months. I haven't tried a lot of other technique so unfortunately I can't help you on this one. But one thing for sure : do not take amphetamines prescription. Those meds will fuck you up. -
Hello everyone! I was wondering why this forum doesn't have a debate section? A place to debate on politics, social issues, world news, education, philosophy, etc. Not only such a section would encourage us promote our point of view, but also develop our abilities at creating strong arguments. Users could be encouraged to post only truly researched content so that each thread consists of only highly valuable information. I don't see how anyone wouldn't benefit from this. I do see how such a section could get very heated up over certain subjects, maybe that's one of the reason it hasn't been created yet. No one wants unnecessary flame wars. What is your opinion about this?

I agree with your statement, but only partially. Yes relationships are a kind of social norm, as in you don't absolutely need to have any relationships to strive, but they also can be a useful thing in personal development. My partner knows I'm interested in personal development. Not only is she fine with this but she also tries to help! I talk to her about things I read in books, on the internet, etc, and how I could implement them in my life. She listens to me and sometimes brings forward perspectives I did not think about before. The same situation applies with good friends. My closest buddy is also in personal development. We exchange views on certain subjects all the time, It's always very interesting and helps us to develop even more.

Not only is it possible, but it is essential! I've made the mistake of entering a relationship while not being happy with myself 3 years ago. Very rapidly, I started caring about my partner a lot more than I should have. She was literally my other half, I couldn't live without her. I invested so much time and energy in our relationship that I completely forgot about myself. My personality was gone, out. I stopped doing plenty of things I liked before, I lost friends because I didn't have the time to see them anymore, etc. About one year in, the relationship started to crumble apart. I was completely demolished. I cried a lot, slept a lot, lost all motivation to do anything. I lost my job because I wasn't able to work anymore. I was very depressed in general. Eventually I got back with my girlfriend. I saw the mistakes I made before and tried to correct them. More alone time, a private space in the apartment, etc. We're still together now, happy and trying to make it work in the long term. You cannot afford to lose yourself in another person. You cannot afford to lose what makes you YOU. I feel like this video explains what I'm trying to say a lot better than I could, a must watch

It's okay, don't panic, I got you covered.

I've never done any retreats, but have heard about the benefits they can have. These 10 days will change your life for the better, I'm sure of it -
FredFred replied to gib65's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Hello gib and welcome to the forums Of course this will work! I believe it's called positive reinforcement in psychology. Here's a wikipedia article on it : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reinforcement I'm no expert on the subject, but this technique makes sense to me. Let's say you're studying for a test, you write down one sentence and repeat it until it gets in your head. Your basically doing the same thing here, saying something out loud until it sticks with you. I'm not sure about the limits of the technique, that would require further research. -
I haven't watched the video yet, could you give me a timestamp of when he says this? Edit : forget my question, I'm dumb. This is really interesting though. I'd like to know more about the subject. Like Leo said nobody seems to really know anything stronger than 5-MeO, as far as my quick google search.

FredFred replied to The Don's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Hahaha you can do better than this Leo https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2855614/ It looks like green tea has lots of beneficial effects. Protection against degenerative diseases, prevention of many types of cancer, relatively good treatment of diarrhea and lots of other more complicated stuff. The last chapter of the research tells us about the adverse effects of green tea. Higher doses (it is not said what is a higher dose) can cause damages to the liver and pancreas, as well as the usual adverse effects of caffeine. Appart from the caffeine, I don't see lots of beneficial effects on mental performance. Maybe it would be because there are none? Or maybe it would be because they didn't research this particular field when doing the study, who knows. I like my decaffeinated green tea. It taste good in my mouth. And usually when something taste good in my mouth, my mood is better. That's a plus for mental performance I guess -

@Mikael89 There is no right path. As you said, many people that didn't get any spiritual insights from taking DMT. This statement assumes some DID have insights. Something ridiculous for you might be huge for someone else. From the way that you wrote your comment, am I wrong to assume to you never tried DMT? If I'm right, you're talking about something that is foreign to you. But even then, I've never taken DMT either so who am I to talk about the subject. Edit: I see you edited your comment. Forget what I said, it doesn't apply anymore now
