Fair, but I think there is some nuance to be had here. I know the levels of bliss is incomprehensible to me, but I certainly was not in a really bad state. Which I grabbed from your statement those 'suffering' you meant those who are suffering to a major degree. Like depression level stuff. I was probably as good as most can be as far as being unaware gets. -

Is curiosity and exploration suffering? -

Depends on your goals. Yes it "works" but animals are purely survival driven. This kind of work is often transcending the pure focus of the survival of the self and to care about all life. We didn't change any natural course, we ARE the natural course. We are doing exactly as nature designed us to do. The men vs woman divide is largely because most of humanity is still stuck in such identity complexes. Being male or female is a very deep identity. The mind is a tool, one that can certainly be used for a variety of cases. A hammer can kill a man, but it can also build a house for him to thrive. -

Definitely not 100% My awakening was accidental through drug experimentation and I found this place via a friend recommendation because he thought i'd like the spiritual material. I'm happy, maybe not as happy as I can be (How would I know the limits of bliss?), but I just have a drive to explore and follow what I am passionate about. -

I go by egalitarian too. Feminism is an egalitarian movement so by being egalitarian, you also are feminist, feminist just doesn't paint the entire picture. Its probably a context sensitive thing which term you use, although I do like how egalitarian can curve the negative societal perception of feminism getting bunched up with the extremists. @Serotoninluv Very insightful read. Good material for me to reflect on myself. -

It's not as binary as attractive western women having it easy or not. Some do some don't. Of course the US is a pinnacle of orange materialism and is only starting to slowly move out of that. It will largely depend on who, what, and where you surround yourself. In my town, woman around here range from blue to green and really just want a successful relationship over a rich guy. They go to finding love to satisfy their need for intimate connection and aiding in their survival needs. Usually someone in their own class rather than higher class. Go to somewhere like Vegas and you'll probably find way more gold diggers. The western world is really varied but I think perceptions often of the US often derive from the major cities where all the rich people hang out. Go to San Francisco and half of the cars you see will be Teslas. Go to Tennessee and you might find a really exotic sports car if you know the right person but most will be older beaten up cars. Of course that varies a bit if you are in the country or cities but there is a huge disparity in overall wealth. Same goes for values. -

@Ibn Sina Of course hypergamy is a thing. But this is a result of survival based mechanism and stage orange mentality. Lumping this with feminism is contributing to the distorted societal perception that I mentioned. Nobody is attacking your character. But they are pointing out how character and arguments are linked together. Like I said what you are lacking is nuance in degree of such occurrences but your statements are broad labels. People ask if you've ever talked to a woman because there are many woman even beautiful ones who do not have access to the opportunities you think they have, which is again lacking in degree. Oh and as far as woman not serving in the military, thank stage blue role mentality for that, not feminism. -

@Ibn Sina I hear what you are saying but I don't think this is a result of 3rd wave feminism itself. A lot of what you say is just typical stage orange materialism. Your perspective isn't without some truth but it lacks nuance on degree. This is a common perspective to have when men feel attacked or that they have something less than woman. Theres more kinds of woman out there than the ones who just want to marry a rich guy for their own survival. -

Neither am I honestly which is why I added the parenthesis. Rape on men is largely understudied imo and its not taken seriously due to perceptions that men always enjoy sex no matter what or that men can't be raped. Not to mention legal definition of sexual assault. -

@How to be wise Short on time but https://slate.com/human-interest/2014/04/male-rape-in-america-a-new-study-reveals-that-men-are-sexually-assaulted-almost-as-often-as-women.html -

You are creating separation between things. Yes there is a paradox here. -
Shadowraix replied to Robi Steel's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
Well at least in the US men are raped as often as woman so it's probably better for that to be an egalitarian issue (if the stats are accurate) but I do think they are harassed and cat called way more. -

@ahmad ibdah Yeah there is a bit of a disconnect here. Many people criticize feminism for those who try to make scientific claims which are actually unscientific and those who are so dysfunctional and toxic they only hurt the movement. Some label them as feminazis now but they have bee perceived as synonymous by many. Its because large portions of the media amplify these kind of behaviors and so they think it is the majority of the movement when in actuality most of the feminists are just normal woman trying to live their lives and don't like being treated as inferior. The toxic woman take coined terms like toxic masculinity, mansplaining, and manspreading which point to all actual damaging phenomenons and apply it to more things than it actually applies which undermines the issues themselves. But this is all because they have experienced it so much they fear of it everywhere they go. The culture is so damaging to woman they end up this way. And many of the dysfunctional hurt men will further perpetuate this issue because they are so focused in their own issues. But again the vocal extremists are very much a minority whos voiced get amplified by media. Yes it is largely a cultural change than legal. Woman actually have the upper hand in many legal concerns. Getting off with lighter crime sentences, getting favored in civil cases. There are many specific cases where men have it shit, but in your average day to day life of just trying to live and co-exist in society, we make it very hard for woman. Everytime I hang out with a woman somebody is trying to harass and cat-call them, send them dick pics and nasty texts. Companies who use sex as a means to sell this product are also further perpetuating this kind of behavior by making them addicted. Of course I am pointing fingers at influences but the root still lies as who is being influenced which would be a much more root-issue fix than symptom fixes. -

I find universe/reality/consciousness become synonymous for many people. @abrakamowse What are you at your core? Now why is it you can desire? -

@Leo Gura What do you think about the many female feminist skeptics on YouTube? They are all about equality, but don't really subscribe just looking through the female perspective which they feel is too one sided for true equality (or equity) but their entire careers are based on debunking many feminist sided arguments through science and studies. Do you think it helps the movement by cutting the bullshit out or are they perhaps disconnect from the majority pov of women? The dictionary definitions are very simple. But the political movements that calls themselves such a word is a much more complex issue and that pretty much applies with any movement. You can say extremists are not x word but it doesn't change that it largely damages the societal perceptions of the movement. At one point it got really popular to upload videos about triggered feminists who are clearly too dysfunctional to be able to handle such controversial matters and it caused a huge twist in how feminism is perceived. Scam artists such as Anita Sarkeesian who twist every little thing to be anti-woman so she can continue to earn money also hurts a truly noble cause and undermines actual legitimate inequality for woman. This is largely where the feminist = egotistical woman come from is these blow ups of a select handful of dysfunctional woman who don't represent the majority of the movement. Its how feminism and feminazi become synonymous for many people. -
@AlldayLoop Love confusion.

@kieranperez Why must you look at the extremes then discount the whole thing for it? Are you gonna to sit here and say that books aren't expanding and teaching people for as long as they have been around? Please go out and look around, see how its power has had a lot of influence. Do some research. You seem to be looking for reasons to discount writing as a valid path. I reiterate: is it actually no passion or are you letting your mind torture you to turn away from it?

@fridjonk Means a lot to hear that! It's the least I could do for how much Leo and this beautiful community has helped me.

Keep working at it. Drop all the theory you have not directly realized. Such theories do not have the proper experience to back them yet which ultimately get distorted into toxicity. The absolute can be incredibly destructive because we can't really handle it. This is why we don't realize it all at once. We must be eased into it. -

It can take some exploring to figure it out. You may even have some aspects of yourself you aren't even aware of! I only realized I loved to teach like a year ago. Its my favorite puzzle to help someone figure out their puzzle. Your passion and hobbies are a puzzle for you to solve and is unique to you.

Always wanted to try peyote. People have told me mescaline in general feels like a much more gentle teacher. Ayahuasca is DMT based so it can be quite intense, but should be a lot easier than smoking it. (Which is beyond comprehension intense) Every psychedelic could have a potential to make you feel insane, but set and setting as well as a good mindset can alleviate a lot of issues. I'd only recommend 5-MeO generally to more experienced users. More traditional psychs can lead to the deep insights you seek. I had my first ego death on lsd! Do your research on mescaline, I think it might be a good first time for you, if you can extract it. Eating the cactus/powder/tea can have varying amounts and the plant matter is nausea inducing. -
