Very good explanation on a topic - I like how Sam articulates things.

No, people don't have children to reproduce their Genes. That's a bullshit strawman. One of the weakest videos of Leo of the past year.

Some places need a strong arm -
I'm trying to wrap my head around this after watching the vid about death. If the awareness in the area of the universe which we call a human can trick itself in believing that it is a self, does any complex structure in the universe do the same? Is there such a thing as what it's like to be a building, or a leaf? Or is it simply the fact that because human perception is so much more intricate that such concepts can form? Is consciousness somehow enhanced by the human capacity to perceive? What about different structures that also have their form of perception such as animals or AI, can they construct a self? Can they become enlightened? Hope it's not too dumb of a question...

Those studies are based on statistics most of the time, so there's your answer

Personal experience. Then also theres the principle of skin in the game. A coach is never penalized if his teachings do not help the student. The student loses out, coach just cashes in the money and moves on to bs the next guy. Trust me,finding an actual good coach is really really hard.

I use Headspace app for that purpose. It's harder if you have to stand, but if I find a seat I can actually go deep.

There is clearly lots to trim from everyone's life, especially when doing this kind of work, I agree. But having a small baby, a demanding job and a long commute also eat up a lot of my time. I hear you about the life coach, I'd be keen on getting one but I've seen loads of frauds and bs vendors which has put me off for now. Any advice on where to start looking for better ones? Thanks

I thought I could make progress in my own in this field, but with a busy life, trying to cram some meditating in the train while commuting won't take me far. So I'm wondering whether anyone here can point me towards people, coaches or groups which can aid in this quest in London, UK. Also, how can I tell if a coach or mentor is the real deal? Thanks,

Don't ask me, thats for you to figure out. That's all life is about figuring out what to do next. -

No the point is do something instead of moaning that the world does not conform to your ideals. Get out of your armchair and fix the issue! -

If you are so worried about it, why not jump on a plane and join a humanitarian organisation in Brazil to save the forest? -

I have started reading the book, I'm a few chapters in. What I don't fully understand is how the actual letting go is supposed to be done? Is it through contemplation? Thinking or meditating about it? Or something more active? Ive managed to cleanse myself of some issues by putting myself in situations where I can live through my worst fears for example and that has helped letting go but how cam you in practice do that for every piece of baggage you have? If I am afraid of being a failure, or being perceived as a failure for example, should I be thinking about it, or live through something like it?

This is very interesting. Can you recommend some more books or resources to understand these techniques?

Tax the rich in theory always becomes tax the middle class in practice. Because the government implementing the taxation can easily be corrupted by the real rich to not tax them. Closing the loopholes and insuring the tax money is properly used is the real challenge, not "taxing the rich"

I think we should focus less on who to tax and more on who does the redistribution...

Where do you get this stuff from? Aren't they illegal?

Can this be sticky-ed? I was looking for the notes for those times I listen to the audio while commuting, and this thread is amazing.

We need morals around sex because at the age where people start to be able to have sex they're too young to understand the world properly. And irresponsible sex can ruin your life. Women are more at risk here than men, but men can also be damaged as well from unconscious sex...

I've watched the video - you spent a lot of time combating the basic ideas that most YouTube and twitter warriors spin around - which is a good thing, but far from advanced. I was mostly reflecting about the second part where you put forth the idea that government must be for everyone and that the purpose should be the raising of consciousness. Now, of course, I have no problem with that ideal but in reality the problem with what you're saying lies in game-theory. It's a prisoners dilemma. Whoever gives up first will likely not survive and nor will his ideals in the long run. Its like in a government of lions and gazelles, we are preaching very hard to the gazelles to think of the poor lion cubs and stop running from the lions... Soon there will be no gazelles and funny enough lions will disappear soon after. My point is that, selfish games are part of what maintains a balance in the world. Raising of consciousness can only come once moral boundaries between self and the other have been defined, and the survival of the self (be it individual or group) is guaranteed. Any polical model must care about this first if it wants to succeed. -
I think that in order to even consider these teachings you need to go through other growth stages first. Otherwise this will spawn a very nasty religion, nastier than the ones we already know.
