  1. Imagine an apple that has been rotten for over a month. Would you eat it? Definitely not lol. No one In their right mind would, since you would get sick and that's disgusting. Now imagine all of the negative thoughts you eat. They turn you sick and cause you to have things like depression, anxiety, stress, low-self-esteem etc.. Practicing gratitude is eating freshly picked apples from a lovely tree. I credit Prince Ea for giving me the idea for this comment. I don't really watch his vids often but I thought this may be a nice insight.
  2. This may sound like a joke but I have been doing some thinking. Whenever we think about ourselves we think that we are "alive." But whenever you ask a toddler if they are alive or not then they won't have a clue of what you're talking about. I feel that being alive is just an idea you get from your parents. When we think of life, we classify it as something that grows, reproduces, gains energy, (usually through food) and so on. But you can literally program a robot to do everything that a human can do. Perhaps you can even give them the idea that they are alive as well. So are we all just biological versions of robots that are programmed to think we are alive and different from rocks? And is the only thing that separates a non-living thing from a living thing is the idea that one thinks it's alive? I don't really mind if I am way off. Just curious.
  3. Woahh... reality is pretty deep.. I'll definitely do more research on dualities since I'm very ignorant to what they are. I mean I know what they are but not that well. I think it's very cool how deep a single comment goes.
  4. Given how psychology and neurobiology can trace human thought and action back to chemical reactions in the brain - is it still reasonable to believe in a soul?
  5. I am not depressed at all, personally, but I am wondering why others get depressed. It's very strange since it doesn't really solve any problems. Usually if we touched something really hot then our arm will immediately move away without us giving it thought. But depression literally doesn't protect us from anything. In fact, it's deadly.
  6. @lmfao I had that same experience 2 months back. Didn't last very long... I have been meditating daily for 15 months.
  7. I often see people in the loop of getting depressed over the fact that their life has no objective meaning. I even found myself In the same loop so hopefully this thread will help you. I'd like to say that it's dumb to be depressed over this if you really think about it. If your life had meaning then you would be much more of a slave than you already are. Society already controls a lot of your life so if a bearded man in the clouds assigned meaning to your life then you would not be reading this comment or doing anything else you love to do since you'd just be a slave. The beauty of life is that our lives don't have meaning but we can come up with things that we want to do in our lives. Let's say a father gives birth to a daughter and this father is a cruel and crazy man. He uses the daughter as a slave to clean up the house constantly and cook food. He assigned meaning to her life but why should she care that her life has meaning when it's a horrible reason to live? You would be no different than this girl if your life had meaning. The very idea of you wanting for your life to be meaningful is absurd in my eyes. If there truly was a man in the clouds who had infinite power, do you really think that he will use such power in a positive way? Definitely not.
  8. I think it depends on how you want to live this life.
  9. I can't believe trump is the president. Good thing that it at least wasn't Hilary. She was even worse deep down. People often make assumptions about the personalities of others and Hillary used that to her advantage to gain a shit-ton of followers. Making assumptions about others isn't something you can't not do since it is for survival. Keep that in mind.
  10. @tashawoodfall The reason of why there are so many zombies is the fact that they don't know that they are zombies. I cam across actualized.org by pure dumb luck and it made me realize how unconscious I am compared to how I could be in the future.
  11. @Thanatos13 I am very sorry that you're still suffering.
  12. I will probably never take a psychedelic when I'm older. It seems scary lol. I do agree with Leo when he says that there is a lot of stigma about them but I still get the shivers when I think about taking one myself as an adult when I'm older.
  13. I think contemplating death is a great way to not waste your time in life. Glad you made this post to remind me
  14. I am sorry for talking about a negative subject but I feel that it is necessary. School is a really bad system in my opinion. Doesn't teach you anything you can't learn in an hour, wastes a ton of time, kids become zombies by using their phones during class. The reason of why everyone is capable of enduring school is the fact that they own a phone and they aren't very conscious of how bad school is. I don't which is good since bringing a phone to school is awful for your psyche. In fact, phones are like cigarettes unless you're wise. I feel a deep negative emotion whenever I'm at school. What are your thoughts on this subject? Also, for some reason I can't access actualized.org on Google unless I use internet explorer or a different computer. Idk why.
  15. @lmfao I never really enjoyed being rationally minded since I feel like it's boring xD. I usually believe what I want to believe, even if it's completely false, I don't care. I do find it interesting how people don't have free will. I would have thought that me moving my arm whenever I want counts as free will but Leo's vid on free will was very interesting.
  16. @Serotoninluv lol speaking of paranormal phenomena..... I still haven't gotten over my fear of ghosts lol. Usually whenever it's super dark or I'm taking a shower. I don't believe in them but the idea of them is enough to scare me
  17. @Thanatos13 You are correct to say that life is meaningless and everything that anyone does doesn't matter. As humans we like to feel the emotion of happy. We even live as wage slaves to do this. The most logical thing to do in life is to commit suicide since it virtually solves all of your problems now and in the future and you won't regret it since you won't be able to. But our emotions prevent us from doing this. I personally choose to live as happy as possible until I die. Yes, my happiness doesn't matter but it's what I prefer out of the options I was born with. Even me posting comments on this forum doesn't matter. The forum doesn't need me. The world doesn't need the forum. The universe doesn't need the world. etc
  18. I'm 15 and you're 27 so there is definitely a massive age gap in my understanding of what is causing your depression since I have no experience with being an adult. Perhaps you have low self-esteem and you want to get more friends or the job you have is frustrating. Friendships are a human need and you can go crazy if you don't talk to anyone for a while. I really hope that you find a solution. Perhaps there are hobbies out there that you can explore. Digital drawing and reading are my main hobbies. The six pillars of self-esteem is a book I recommend. Reading makes you fulfilled and content. What you should also do is feel the full negative emotion of your depression. Feeling a negative emotion head on makes it subside over time. Perhaps sit in a chair with your eyes closed and feel where the emotion is.
  19. The smartest and wisest people in the world cannot help you since you are not looking for help. No matter how much anyone strains their mind to help you, it will not work since what you seek is emotional attention. Serotoninluv responded to this thread perfectly.
  20. Boredom is a monster. It makes us turn to drugs, turn to candy, destroys relationships, etc. I wonder if there are ways of using boredom as an advantage to help you in life. I heard that people who read hundreds of books develop very well mentally. I have a mom who has read over 230 books in 7 years and she is extremely wise. My issue is that I play games. I either play them for 1 or 2 hours a day - dependent on how much school work I have. This is a habit that I do not want to have at all since the time committed to playing games can be spent doing something more beneficial. I am 15 years old which is the age when your maturity levels suck. I'd like to spend an hour meditating each day and reading for hours each day but it is very rough due to this boredom that I feel. I only spend about 10 minutes meditating each day which is nothing. I like to watch actualized.org vids every now and them since they provide knowledge that can be useful if you apply it. I think Leo is a great teacher as it's evident that he has traveled and learned about various places around the world. When I first started watching his channel I was shocked to see that he understood that life had no meaning and he didn't see this as a negative thing. That helped me the most. I'm not a weeb btw. My profile pic is a random picture I found online years ago lol.
  21. @lmfao That is literally the same thing that I'm trying to do as well lol. Good luck man! Also, my comment is really late since I fell down the toilet xDDD
  22. Also, if life is so meaningless as you say then why spend your meaningless life on subscribing to a depressive philosophy rather then trying to be happy and make others happy? I'd love for you to talk your way out of that one. (Sorry if you feel like I'm attacking you. I am trying to attack the mechanism that is depressing you. I genuinely think that you'll mature into a wise and great person if you beat it.) Good luck.
  23. @Thanatos13 I don't mean to come off as hostile but I am not surprised at all to know that you are depressed. I have seen your comments for a while now and I knew that you'd post something like this eventually. My advice to you is to get out of your depressive philosophy. You often say that people aren't objective but you put a double standard on yourself. These people who "aren't objective" are usually happy people - or at least happier than you are. Also, you are no more or less objective than they are. You don't need to be objective or perfect. Life doesn't need to have objective meaning for it to be enjoyable. You say that death would be too hard so why one of the countless smart decisions you have of getting out of your depressive philosophy? And nihilism is just a neurotic idea crafted by neurotic people. It's not inherently true at all.
  24. You won't remember where you put your keys or the remote but it can be excellent for learning new things like languages, different parts of the body, (if you're into anatomy) you won't need to write down a list to go to wall-mart and such. you will be able to remember peoples names and phone numbers after hearing it once and so on. Basically, anything that you consciously try to memorize when using the memory palace can be remembered for as long as you'd like. In the book the author Joshua Foer says that students from back in the day memorized a book so well that if a pin was struck through any part of the book (through all of the pages) the the students would know all of the words the pin hit. I know this sounds ridiculous but trust me. After you read the book you'll fully understand what I'm talking about here.
