  1. Just read this article about the "negative effects" of mindfullness & meditation. I guess that these people have the basic physiological aim of just calming themselves down, and then freak out when they start to get the results that most folk on here would be actively seeking. Anyone here have similar problems? https://www.bbc.com/worklife/article/20210202-how-mindfulness-can-blunt-your-feelings-and-spike-anxiety
  2. The first word you heard as a baby was manipulation. All communication is manipulation. I would have loved to have grown up a Spanish speaker but my parents (unwittingly) deprived me of that
  3. Yeh, I was just going to say the same but there's actually no need to cum. Pressing the pc muscle stops ejaculation. The other muscles go through their motions as usual, but the semen is retained. You'll still feel "finished" and need some time to recover, but you can regain that desire to empty your balls pretty quickly
  4. Not yet, but education systems will surely be developed & adapted to teach kids about mental/psychological exercise & development- in the same way that we had a physical health revolution, there will be a mental health revolution. After a few generations of kids learning that stuff from their earliest years, they will naturally have that desire to develop (as they do when learning languages) & everything in their environment will support it.
  5. I read the article this morning & I don't remember the last time a piece of journalism cut me so deep- absolutely apalling to read. The Nazis had strong armies pitched against them on either side, as well as national resistance movements. There's going to be none of that in this case so no internationally-led way out for them. Maybe when Xi Jinping steps down/dies, his successor will ease it up. That's the best case scenario but I wouldn't bet on it.
  6. And humans come into this world wanting to express themselves on a canvas? Art is expression of life.
  7. I'll be holding back to see what happens to the early adopters. The most common covid symptoms are well-documented now & I'd prefer to take my chances with those than the unknown potential side effects of a fast-tracked vaccine.
  8. That's a really sad way to look at it. Every individual has his/her good sides and you can always take joy from discovering/focusing on those. There is real value in speaking to any individual and indeed to as many different individuals as you possibly can. If 10,000 hours of practice makes you an expert in something, well...
  9. The easiest starting action is def to make the stuff you want to achieve on part of your daily routine. You have to be strong with yourself at the start & make sure you don't miss days but very quickly it just becomes second nature to you & you don't even have to think about it. 1 day turns into 2 days, 2 days into a week, a week into a month etc.
  10. I completely agree with @Nahm about the jobs. I've done so much different stuff & for a long time a lot of it was low level stuff- once upon a time I spent a whole week shredding documents in an attic with no radio or proper chair (but nevertheless legally!). All of it is valuable experience though- the cafe/pub/checkout/call centre stuff, in particular, is an absolutely amazing opportunity to interact with many types of people in different contexts & get a real handle on psychology. Sounds like you need both the money & familiarity of interacting with people on a daily basis so I'd def recommend taking whatever job comes along (NOTHING is a waste of time!) and then do it like a legend for at least a few months. Not just a checkout worker, the best checkout worker in town, the one who always has a smile & a joke for the customers, the one that the manager begs to stay & offers a ridiculous (but ultimately futile) pay raise to. In that time, you'll naturally start planning your next steps & one thing will lead to another & another & another.
