  1. Yea I think the game will be to regulate it and let our kids enjoy it without it turning too much into an addiction/over-use
  2. It goes really in depth in different ways, there's also a lot of illustrations, it's actually quite easy to read and advance in the book But also it's divided by stages and you don't need to read more than 1 or 2 stages ahead of your current stage, so in the first 100 pages should be already most of what you need to read
  3. Youtube/smartphone might have some possitive aspects although imo there are a lot of negatives effects as well (of over-utilising i'm talking), like weakening focus skills and becoming more reactiv to instant gratification/stimulus, amongts other But as @Jonac say I don't think it will be really avoidable, when all the 6yo kids will have their smartphone there probably will be a ton of resistance from your kid if you put a 0 smartphone policy, and even besides that, maybe that might have negative effects on the kid's ability to bound and make friend and whatever when he's the only kid in his class that doesnt have his smartphone and has no idea what all the other kids are talking about Giving the smartphone specifically when the kid cries to distract him is definitly bad though, that's literally given a reward for crying and for sure this patern reinforced because it will be the same all the time) will be picked up by the kid and here you have some really bad conditioning, Eckhart Tolle talked about it in a video as well (not specifically with a smartphone but to give a reward to the kid crying so he stops crying)
  4. It's the same for the Goenka vipassana retreat (although there it's by audio tape, not memorizing) I think it's fine and a good idea, as soon as your organisation/teaching spread massively the only way to keep the teachings intact is to keep it 100% unchanged, if you allow any change in a huge structure like that there will be minor change there + minor change there + minor change there which will make big changes in time, some who would be good, other that will just lose the value of the teaching in the first place, and in the end it's just gonna be a big chaos/random kind of
  5. Check out the book "The Mind Illuminated", everything you want to know and need is there (there's a version available online I think)
  6. - Reactive energy can get a really powerful momentum so there's a part of just being really careful on the begining of the day to not fall into reactive energy, and then if you start proactivly it's gonna build up proactiv momentum as well, so really plan and make a routine of proactive activities starting the morning - Get your WHYs on point, Why do you want to get that exam ? what do you want from it, why is it important for you ? why is it good for you ? And also check some inner contradictions, what could be bad about getting that exam ? what would you lose ? put some light on awareness on that and then you'll be able to eventually make some change or something to solve/get at peace with those inner contadictions, also just puting some light on it and realising that it's not that important (the Why nots) might solve them on its own without changing anything
  7. It's a term used in the book "The Mind Illuminated" that someone else suggested, if you're serious about meditation get the book and it's gonna be the biggest turn in your meditation path (there's a online version available as well if I'm correct) If you want a little preview of what dullness is, let's say it's the amount of clarity/precision/richness of your perception (that would be no dullness), so dullness would mean when you're sensations/perception is less rich/clear, typically for example before you fall aspleep, another comun example would be when you're driving or doing something on autopilot, sometimes the mind gets so dull that we don't even remember what we were doing There's a little corelation in that reducing dullness and geting a more clear/rich perception might increase the mind distractions, but in your case it seems that the way you want to go if you have little to 0 distractions but dullness
  8. If you don't get benefits/progress out of meditation with 1 hours+ siting daily for 6+ month, yea there might be something incorect Check that post, maybe that's your case too, especially since you say your biggest problem would be falling asleep, which is extreme dullness, it seems to corespond with the case described https://www.reddit.com/r/streamentry/comments/8ee9dt/practice_dead_ends_on_the_meditative_path/
  9. Yea I would put Logic well developped also, definitly at least solid green that's for sure He also did a song about the "the egg" story that's going into non duality Where would you guys put Kendrick btw ? he also seems really well developped in a lot of ways
  10. Really good advices from @Hello from Russia , I think that should be your number one priority (as it will also give you freedom in the future and develop a lot of things on the way) And as he said don't try to pick something that you think will be a juicy domain or something like that, literally you could make a living out of anything, so chose from what you like (and are good/want to become good) and what you're interested in mostly
  11. Same for me, really powerful and useful Also Leo talks in the episode about being careful of the trap of going in an over-tryhard approach of this, I can definitly see the danger of it and see myself naturly prone to that On the other hand though, it's just so damn effective and powerful that I actually want to go deeper on this technique and increase the volume of using it daily, so let's say instead of trying to let go a few times in the day, I want to do it more like 30 times What do you think about it ? (Leo or Michael or anybody else that want to share his view in it)
  12. I'm not a youtube pro but demonetizing and not puting add on your videos when you first start (and wouldn't make any money anyways) to buildup an audiance seems quite like a good smart (not that counter intuitive tbh) strategy Also even later, not monetizing through adds and keeping your video demonetized but monetizing through selling your own products is also a quite good strategy
  13. @Greek-God How you doing ? Did you continue to try to experiment with the technique a bit ? Also Leo made a video about it recently you definitly want to check it out if you haven't done yet And for your particular case and why it didn't "work" well when you tried, I suspect that you did it too much in a tryhard / expecting results way, rather than in a light / playfull / just like a game way, which can be counterproductive because it's easy to build even more resistance and attachments using leting go itself as the object of attachment/craving, I definitly do that too sometimes so I can relate if that was the case for you too
  14. Interesting But always so hard to know what is relevant or not with foods (before testing first hand) since there is tons of seemingly knowledgable people who will say one thing and tons of other seemingly good ones that will say the exact opposite So green tea everyday seems to be not good though ?
  15. That's nice man thanks I don't know that much about chakra but I would have think that 3rd eye is more like yellow spiral dynamics no ? kind of like overall/holistic/detached observer, what do you think ? Also have you heard about frequencyes of emotions (I'm sure there's many names to it) like for example David Hawkins book, something like that Maybe that could be one other model to include
  16. Great post although I'm not on those stages of overcomming subtle dullness yet Can you link Culadasa's Dharma website as well ? sounds pretty interesting
  17. That's a really nice video really touching One thing I'm wondering though, in that scenario what about animals/plants-life, is there reincarnation only on human forms ?
  18. Seems to me as well as it's really not the right moment for you to dwell more into energy practices/meditation other than somes to heal or slow down the symptoms, so definitly not the right time to fly to india or start intense kriya yoga LOL If you really can't sleep I think some sleep medecine as well could be good short term, also trying to see some energic/reiki healer or what ever might be helpful (or not, I really don't know much about it)
  19. I think you actually need already really good concentration (can happen randomly if you're really interested in the inquity then you might be able to concentrate easily actually, but that's probably really rare and/or not gonna last more than a few sessions) to have self-inquiry be really effective And to improve concentration, pick up the book "the mind illuminated" yea, nothing else to say
  20. Thanks I checked it, seems like one of them is exactly what I was doing with the image (simmilar to a candle) so that sounds good
  21. Yea i've seen that Daniel Ingram has some content about that As far as my experience with the technique, so far I'm staring at a light source, trying to blink or move the eyes as little as possible, for between 5 secondes and 1 minute depending on the light source, then closing my eyes, there will be a after image appearing, then I watch the after-image, it will also change form and color When it's disapearing I try to see it again, sometimes it appears a bit again then I watch it, if not I reopen my eyes staring at the light source and same steps as above At first I tried with the LED of my phone but it seems like it might be damaging for the retina long term so I stopped, instead I'm using some images that are made to facilitate having after image after staring at them for a bit, those ones : https://imgur.com/gallery/n2FCnd1 People recommend using a candle a lot rather than phone LED or bulb from what I've seen, those images that I linked seems to be safe for the eye and work for me well so far And as far as result, it's insanely new (just tried yesterday), but seems like it gets me more easily concentrate and calm the mind a bit more than other practices, so will continue experimenting with a little bit of it before my breath sits
  22. What do you think of fire kasina to develop concentration ? I've heard some people say that it's really effective and even a quite fast path to get to deep concentration states or 1st jhana, I've started practicing it a little bit and it does seem easier to get concentrated than other practices for me
  23. I heard codl showers raise your testosterone as well (and other benefits) you could try that as well
