If you do a 'selfless act' with the intent of becoming enlightened, by definition, it isn't selfless. -
That old say 'If you think you're enlightened, try spending a week with your family' comes to mind. My younger brother and I used to fight incessantly whilst growing up. Now we're the best of friends. That may well not ever be the case for you. Even so, in these instances it can be incredibly liberating to acknowledge that you always have a choice. You cannot take responsibility for his attitude, actions or outlook, but you can and must with yours. I would strongly consider question why its important that your be respected by him. I grew up in a household of very smart, academically minded people. For a long time, I wanted to prove to them that I was intelligent and knowledgeable. Then it became blindingly obvious just how insecure and narcissistic that mindset was. On a more practical level, moving out and establishing a more independent lifestyle may well be the best thing you could do.

I'll delete the comment if requested but the deep web is more than likely your only bet. But for Christ's sake, do your research first.

To clarify, just thought I'd add that a 15 gram dose of 5 star rated truffles is in no way, shape or form a 'recreational dose'. The largest truffle dose I've taken was about 23 grams and that was like 'buckle your seatbelt Dorothy, cause Kansas is going bye bye'... -
If you want to quit smoking, you will. You'll reach the point where you realize that you're not actually enjoying it anymore. But if you want to quit because you feel like that's what you should be doing, then don't bother. You may as well just keep smoking.

Not so much house, but it's almost hard not to meditate on psytrance. Of course, it will provide you with a single point of focus as opposed 'true meditation' where you're letting everything be is at is. To be honest, I don't think it's something that'll produce many insights or ongoing benefit. Definitely cool though, especially when you're baked. -

For what it's worth, I can strongly recommend the site trufflemagic. Their strain Hollandia is great! -

Preach! For me, it's not so much the films themselves as it is my experience of them. I think I've always been chasing the experience of movies that I had as a kid. When you're that age, there's this sense of wonder and mystery that seemed to bring everything to life. The closest I've come to achieving that is watching movies in altered states (most notably for me being Bladerunner) If you haven't seen them already, I can recommend checking out The Man from Earth, My Dinner with Andre and the philosophical commentary that Ken Wilber and Cornell West did for the Matrix trilogy. -

I think psychedelics can be both tremendously beneficial as a well irrevocably harmful depending on the individual, where there are at mentally and emotionally as well as set and setting and of course, dosage. I've taken mushrooms a few times now and as Leo eluded to in one of his videos, they seem to act as a proverbial 'parting of the clouds'. You start to challenge the assumptions you've been making for such a long time and get an experience of life without as many of the filters operating. In that moment, life seems to get more paradoxical, uncertain and ambiguous. As such, it can be a pretty uncomfortable experience. Almost analogous to doing homework. Whilst they can point you in the right direction and provide a plethora of a-ha moments, you still have to do the heavy lifting for yourself though. No shortcuts, or so it would seem. Personally with mushrooms, I keep returning to this question of 'what am I actually doing here? what's the point in all of this and why am I even bothering?' I haven't yet learned how to transcend that space and reach a more positive and beneficial realization. Anyway, that's my two cents. Cool thread!

Hi everyone, If this feels too far off the beaten track, please let me know. The last thing I want to do here is piss people off but would greatly benefit from reaching out to some like-minded individuals. Last night, I had an 'experience' as a result of taking magic mushrooms. I know, very stupid. Not a smart choice, hence my apprehensiveness in making this post at all. That being said, I can safely say that it was the most terrifying night of my life. The absurdity and pointlessness of everything became painfully apparent. I no longer identified with my body or mind in any way, shape or form. It was an irrelevance. Like we're just along for the ride and could be anywhere or anything. One of the most palpable qualities the experience had was that time no longer existed. The past and future are just concepts. Only the present is what you can be sure of. As a result, everything just....is. It felt like I had woken up from a very, very long sleep and received a cosmic kick up the ass telling me that I must LET GO.
