Oranges can be vegans no problemo. They can't apply energy in a systemic, holistic, and thorough way to address a problem as massive as climate change in the same way that a yellow or teal can. The yellow or teal will be much more effective.
-
Regardless, they comprise the vast majority of naranja people. Remember also that Orange is the season of the busy bee. They're gonna be so focused on chasing material things, scientific theories, and work/money that even if they think it's rational to help the planet they will be too exhausted to do anything in that direction. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Environmentalism is a collective endeavor and these other things are individualistic. You can only apply your energy in so many places.
-
Naranja is primarily about protecting the self, and the rich peoples are the one that are propagating much of the disinformation and ultimately much of the damage. They're also the ones that will be able to best deal with cataclysimic climate change. The vast majority of businesses (and all fossil fuel companies) do not feel that they will be hurt too badly by climate change, otherwise why pollute. Someone else will pick up the tab. Corporatism / orange in the United States is not concerned with leaving some kind of good mark on humanity. It is about advancing the welfare of people within the United States. And it is the United States that's holding up the planet the most. Most people in the U.S. think of the areas outside of the U.S. as barely different from extra-galactic planets, with extra-terrestrials that we simply have to deal with. There is no connection to them and no desire for synergy. All of this is because of nationalism. Accordingly anything that happens thousands of miles away has about as much weight as something happening thousands of light years away. Because we are better, or something =P

Let's say that hardcore psychopaths have a very limited ability to mold their empathy and increase their consciousness, but that we should still try because they are fellow human beings. Let's say that they are better representatives of the "intelligent" aspect of the universe (albeit a subdued aspect of it) - they live and breathe this aspect of the universe in that they act more robotically and "without compassion" / "without regard to ego". In this narrow sense they act kinda like inanimate objects in a way - a meteor crashing into a planet does not care if it kills everyone on that planet. Note though that they still obviously human and don't deserve to be treated worse. They are life, but act a bit like non-life. Buddhists for example and psycopaths have some important similarities that are not to be overlooked. The main difference being that Buddhists arrived to their conclusions via discipline, whereas psycopaths have a subdued version of intelligence due primarily to their genetics.

Think this is true, but there might be another aspect to it. I.E. OCD is both the mind trying to protect its ego, as well as destroy it. Perhaps the mind senses the inner wisdom that pain/dissatisfaction is the best impetus to be still. But, it is still wrapped in the illusion that the ego matters, The relationship between mental illness and spiritual work is multifaceted.

A large portion of quiet do-nothing meditation has been great so far, but the other week I got a hallucination of wind in the trees (no trees here since it's the Sonoran Desert...), combined with children laughing and some other weird sound that idk. I never got hallucinations before but I definitely won't be doing psychedelics based on my family history of schizophrenia. My main problem is consistency but at the same time it's like way too easy for me to get to a nondual state, I feel like I'm playing with fire since I've seen how bad schizophrenia is. But at the same time, I can't go back to solely drooling over video games or books or any other hobby. I am in a pickle too :> This is so true, I was supposed to see my family psychiatrist if I got a hallucination, but for now? Naaah. -
Curiously, I routinely do a mix of meditation and intellectual fapping to the idea of meditating while listening to any type of music that I like. Songs like "Tool - Reflection" will do the trick, (which specifically mentions concepts like ego-death). So in this sense it is a double edged sword for me. But any song by Eminem will also do the trick as I like the concept that he is not even saying anything meaningful half of the time (by any definition), but also I find the rhymes spiritual in that they display connection between disparate ideas/concepts, even if they are about grotesque subjects. I've gotten something close to nondual experiences pretty often especially recently since I've continued meditating *without* any stimulation.

@Equanimitize Like I said this topic maybe could be advanced further into Yellow/Turquoise, i just remember being on the forums where they were all trashing religious people. Overall it seemed to be like just a niche version of rationalist/humanist/scientific schools of thoughts. Science was seen as the only legitamate way to end pain, and I specifically recall people saying that they wanted to be immortal so that they could play every game ever or dedicate themselves to ending religion. I don't mean to be dogmatic about death (or morose hehehe) but it seems necessary for humanity as a whole to move up the spiral. A large percentage of the world wouldn't recognize anything *other* than death. It is worthy of more investigation though.

Pretty much anything to do with transhumanism, immortalism, and life extension reeks strongly of Orange with a partial green mask (partially due to its niche status in intellectual discourse). At least so far. Can't but feel there is a little red in there too. Anyway it's basically SCIENCE SCIENCE SCIENCE. Maybe there is a way to blend such topics with Turquoise, but personally I don't see it. I feel the universe would react strongly against the ego being immortal, it is definately an interesting topic though. I remember being 9 year old and calling transhumanists poo poo faces on their forums. I still feel the ideology makes me...sad, maybe a little less now though.

I actually work for the Department of Veterans Affairs out here in a Wild West city, and I don't think it hurts your personal development too bad. There's this giant U.S. flag inside, full of blue/orange ideas propagated everywhere, and a portrait of Donald Trump when you walk in (helped me resent him a lot less somehow) I enjoy helping the vets even if I am pretty pacifist.. I'm not sure what to make of it.

I'm gonna sign up for Phoenix when he puts up the thread.

It has some hidden references to Taoism and stuff, especially Jak 3. Where Dark Eco made Daxter a precursor, yet precursors are the most powerful beings ever. (Loosely suggesting divinity in evil). Now that I think of it... Not a horrible game even by our standards. Pretty watered down references, but they're there. Also the health bar:

I can't help see having any sort of relationship as being conflicting with self-actualization to some degree. I intuit that it would help at the very late (well at least further) stages of personal development though. The idea that you value one person differently than all other people really irks me. That is just me though. I do need to work on this specific area: to not judge people for wanting more human connection than I do..

How'd you know I loved that series.

Skyrim actually helped me a lot when I was pre-transition. I mean I was so depressed that I didn't want to do anything but play Warcraft 3, but I still played the Elder Scrolls games. It felt so empowering to be the other sex and literally lit such a fire under my ass to transition that I did all the steps in 2 years. Other than that I still play too much Warcraft III. (Not 16 hours a day though...)

There's like a lot of universal qualifiers and in this post. "No" "always" "all". Drop them. Add nuance. Well a girl can walk up to you with a pistol and threaten to shoot you. In this case you'd call her evil and not amazing because you did think you were so amazing. There is very little use for words such as "always" never" "all" "none". And luck may exist but it is best to assume that it does not.

In a global context, SD is about trends. There is no reason to try to move such numbers of people up the spiral under such circumstances.

Pretty sure he'd say true death doesn't ever happen in the universe since it is said to be infinite and infinitely interconnected . Egoic death can occur when a bullet lands in your skull, or when you meditate a lot. gg. It might cover how the fact that someone's heart that starts being is literally no more significant in the grand scheme of things than if a carton of milk tips over and spills. How religion defines the birth and death of an individual as pivotal cosmic events when they are not really, well no more than those that are actually happening every second. I might be 100% wrong though, I'm still not very good at this hehehe.

I really like this explanation too. I completely transitioned a couple of years ago and pretty much live as a stealth transgender person. I've been avoiding looking deeper into the causes and effects of my being transgender but sooner or later I think I will have to do more shadow work regarding it. I mean I've had surgery and feel fine about it and everything, but I've been just so exhausted from all the ideology surrounding this topic (as well as the financial and temporal costs) that I think I only skimmed the surface of it. Basically really unfocused unclear attempts at self improvement that seem to have worked so far, but which I haven't explored in depth. Is it even worth it though? If the self is an illusion in the first place? *sigh*.

Yeah I actually specifically dropped everything and moved from Colorado to southern AZ specifically because I get the sense that cactus just *are*, a lot more than other forms of plants ( or anything else in nature). IDK it's weird. I hate being a parrot, but travelling to new places *does* help. When you have firsthand experiences of new types of things in the universe, it's possible that they will resonate with you more than your local fauna. Perhaps sheerly because of the fact that you didn't grow up with them. Cacti definately resonate a lot with me.

I was insanely lonely and so I went for a hike last weekend. Indoors, everything has a purpose. Your carpet keeps your feet comfy. Your fridge stores food. What is the purpose of this saguaro cactus? It's certainly not there to make you comfy. (pretty much a direct repost of what Leo suggests. meh, it's true, it works).

I regularly use a printer at work. And even though it was working fine I wanted to shake it and beat it with a hammer cus the paper moving literally freaked the crap out of me. I saw blank paper pass through the printer to go on the other side, now full with words. It was quite nice, beautiful even but then 3 seconds later I was like : -

This is a really good example of how models suck at representing reality. Seems to be a double edged sword, based on the context, the individual and however its ripple effects dance around in the universe. Let's not paint schizophrenia as if it is a good disorder for everyone - I am sure it can be embraced by certain individuals - but the overall effect on people seems to be of pain on people. Statistically higher suicide rates, high rates of smoking, etc. That said, I believe there are just shades of schizophrenia like there are shades of everything else - everything is blurry anyway. Three of my siblings have had schizophrenia and I've always intuited that there was a dream-like quality to the world. Perhaps a mild form of schizophrenia(ish) jumpstarted my inquiry into nonduality. I believe there is a connection. Some excellent systems thinking and deep insights about conciousness could potentially be used to tackle this issue (aka we need turquoise people, according to your model). -

It's too complex to not vent about it from time to time. Usually I will just spam "OMG this is crazy [exciting] [terrifying] [exhilarating]" to an orangie friend even though he is heavily into science and has no idea what I am talking about =D I can't help it though, stuff is crazy. I do however have a strong sense that on some level talking is really pointless. Like really really...really pointless. Like, why won't everyone shut up? Also amusing in a way though hehe (don't mean to be a grumpy poo poo face). -

Usually meditate outside, as it offers a greater array of discomforts / comforts. Can't beat that 105 degree Fahrenheit sun. (I do drink water before and after tho).
