If there is no controller then your post makes no sense. Obviously, something that does not control , is not aware and can't be aware , can't control , or change its state of being.

You can also try half asleep state, will take some time to get there and keep it at balance to not droop in deep sleep, also probably better to do it when you have no work, or anything else to do next day , because you might not get good enough sleep, at least until you will get used to it. Basically you are asleep and awake at the same time and you keep yourself at line between falling in deep sleep and awake state, can really explain how to do it except that you have to try to stay awake and at sleep at the same time.

Because there are to many interpretations of what is Enlightenment and allot of them talk in poems, trying to put some exaggerate , or strange explanations of what is Enlightenment from their own personalities perspective, which leads to allot of confused people, especially when people start repeating some texts they saw in books , or videos , with some silly interpretations of Enlightenment, they might have realized Enlightenment, but their personalities are still there, so their ego is still there , it does not go poof, it can't, you can be observing your personality and not taking part in its actions , but it does not mean that it does not act on level that it is programmed on, or you can reprogram it to your best capabilities, take more control over its action.

Ohh, I did not say that it goes away without putting in work, I was just telling you what happens after you put time in practice. Actually after while you could say that it just happens, you are not even focusing on it as your goal , just your actions lead to less and less negativity, it becomes like your second nature to lower all incoming negativity.
