because the fish that has jumped out of the water cannot be at ease when it's out of the water. do not jump out of the water, then you will be at ease... you are wanting to be at ease whilst out of the water. this cannot happen. this "I" is the fish out of the water - but thankfully, this "I" is not you. It cannot ever be in the present moment, because the present moment is infinite. there are no pieces in it, it is whole. the fragment cannot be whole. don't let the fish jump out of water and you will be the present moment itself. and when the fish does jump out of the water, and it jumps from presences, then it's not the fish that's jumping out, the present moment is jumping out into itself. whole to whole will be whole the slice cannot do anything to become the whole pizza. it will, by definition, always be a slice.

ultimately there's just the absolute subject - you are that. you watch the movie. the movie has a character living in a world. but you watch the movie which is character+the world as one. the POV experience of the subject looking at objects is known subjectively. you are this knower - ultimate subject. singular. one which unites the rest into one thing: MOVIE (character+the world) as opposed to two things: character AND/IN the world.

you are also the living machine there's only this - call it dreaming or living. that's just a term. but this is all there is. it's temporary being watched by the permanent. you're the permanent.

@Vibroverse take a book for example. past, present, future of it - is all already written. you as a the reader can scan and read thru the pages. but the entire plot from start to end is already there. same case for reality. it is potential which exists. your becoming conscious of it is the creating of it. like a blank piece of paper - we can say it holds infinite numbers on it... in that one can write any number on it. all other numbers already exist on it (have the potential to come into being when written) again, all concepts and ideas but that's the gist of it.

@Tovius one can wait for an eternity when waiting for something which is already the case. can the fish in the ocean ever find water? it can swim around - searching to no end... "I've heard of thing thing called water, it's the most obvious thing, too obvious, and that's why perhaps most elusive" the waiting for it is what puts a veil over the fact that the fish is always and already surrounded by water. waiting denies and overlooks the current and expects something in the next moment... when what will end the search is already here and now, then the searching based in finding it "there and then" will go on for eternity.

@Max_V WHY IS IT RANDOM? The best answer to the way you're asking the question is this: because it's already the case. It's kinda like If you were searching for your glasses in your house while already wearing them the whole time. Looking right thru them / overlooking them and searching for them. Now, one may ask, why is the finding of the glasses random - and it's because it can be discovered at anytime as it's always in sight... as they aren't truly lost. the illusion can be seen thru a minute into the search and also 10 hours after the search. something like a sneeze can bring one's attention to the fact that he's already wearing the glasses, or perhaps passing in-front of a mirror or maybe sitting down after tired of searching and then focus shifts on the glass in-front of the eyes - RANDOM because there's no 1 thing which is the ONLY way to bring about the discovery - especially a discovery of something which ALREADY is the case. enlightenment... it's already what you are. thus Random is very much likely yet, there's ways of increasing the likelihood - don't forget that. if the goal is to be struck by lightening, one cannot expect much success if hiding in the basement during thunderstorms. perhaps going outdoors, on top of a hill with a metal rod will increase the odds of this still very much random event of being struck by lightening

@diamondpenguin you've got the essence of what occurs right here: Like an eagle that thinks it's a chicken what happens the moment the eagle realizes it's an eagle and not a chicken - nothing happens. the false drops away. what happens the moment you see that it's not a snake but a piece of rope - nothing happens (in the sense there's no sudden wind or a sound or a background music) yet, what follows that moment can be talked about the eagle then spreads its wings and takes flight, the eagle then goes on a hunt for food that will actually satisfy its hunger. the fear transforms into laughter upon seeing the snake for the rope it always was the realization is sudden and instant. like a bolt of lightening. but it plays out in time. then sure, you can go onto learn to morph your reality to your will... you already are doing it as you move objects around with your hands and walk from one place to another... but you open the door to another dimension (in time) where you can learn to think and affect your world (think Mathilda style) - sky's the limit. another analogy is like this - think of a fan that's running at full speed. you pull the plug, the power is cut off right away, but the fan (old conditioning running) comes to a stop in time... then perhaps it can start to turn again, but in the right direction - instead of a fan, it has become an engine

this guy's channel on youtube has like a 100+ videos of his sitting down for 4 hours in each video and just smiling i found out about this guy prior to all this spirituality stuff comments under the video and my thinking back then too was just this guy is doing craziness or doing it for attention i now wonder if he is doing SDS and just recording it for the heck of it lol i am sure even if he was doing it to mess with people, he might have found or had that brief state of non-dual awareness during one of these videos and then continued to do it. anyhow. it's pretty cool
